I feel so offended that there were tons and tons of cars in the Japanese section and everywhere else only had one to just a handful.:p

Correct.....for the race car. From what I've read, I believe the street version of the M3 GTR used a tuned up, but lower displacement version of the M5 engine. But, with all of the additions to the car, thats where the $$$ increase comes from. Hell, I might be wrong, but if I remember correctly, thats what the deal is.

No. The reason they made a street car is because to race in the GT class of ALMS you needed a certain number of road cars that the race car was based on (engine included...). The GTR wasn't necessary when they were using their 3.2 I6 outta the normal M3, but because of the ALMS air box restrictions it just wasn't able to be competitive. Thus they moved up to a V8 and thus they had to make a road car to base their race car on: the GTR M3.

The road version of the V8 was simply detuned to meet legal road emission and noise level restrictions.

No sign of Henrik Fisker’s Z8 at this stage. Let’s just hope that it is a pleasant secret up PD’s sleave…

The M3 GTR had to use the same engine block as the M3 GTR race car as per ACO rules. However BMW only ever built 1 example of the M3 GTR, and hence the racing cars were heavily restricted and thus useless.

Both M3 GTR Street and M3 GTR Race feature a 4.0L V8.

Yea, I knew that much, but I didn't think it had to be a direct mirror of the race version. Like in WRC, the Suby team uses a WRX and a version of the boxer engine like the street version, but very different engines. Hell, I could be wrong. Either way, the car is a nice piece.

A highly rare M3 CSL with maybe less HP, or a very expensive uncommon SL65-AMG?

Yep, surely uncommon. I see them on the road. All the time. :sly:

Nasty, The WRC has *completely* different homologation rules (or lack thereof, really) in comparison to the ALMS. And as for the CLK DTM... sure, it might look nice and have the engine output to back it up, but it's still an automatic. IMO, I see the M3 GTR as more of a "race car made into a marginal street car" compared to the CLK still being, for all intents and purposes, a road car made to mimic a racer. Picking one or the other for just track use, I'd probably take the GTR. Just a number-driven opinion, however.

Its fantastic to see so many M cars already confirmed for the game as well as the 120i and 120d and Z4.

But I hope there will be a few more streamline models such as a 530i and 745i.

I would love to race my friend in a 745i and he used a Cooper S.

Would be funny as hell, David vs Goliath in the BMW range!!! 👍

And gosh I really hope theres some good 2nd hand BMWs to choose from, maybe the whole range from GT2 can come in as 2nd hand!

The M3 GTR Road Car is pretty much known as the

BMW M3 GTR Strasse

The M3 GTR road version is kept technically as close as possible to the racing version.

I just don't get excited about MBZ, so the CSL would be my pick of the two. Top Gear actually liked the car in their review, but they placed it on the "cool board" in the uncool section because only a true gear head would buy the car and it'd be "uncool" to explain it's features (CF Roof etc.). As for the lineup of BMW's in GT4 so far, I'm seriously disapointed, mainly a bunch of Bangle flame treated pieces of flashy trash, I want my e36 and e30!!! The e46's that are featured are incredibly good though and will probably be the first cars I save up for.

Here's praying for the 850Csi ^_^ and 2002tii

Nope. No Lamborghini or Porsche either. Unless, PD pull that same crap they did with GT3.

I so hope the 8 series makes a return from GT2. That car was so bad! 👍

I would add a convertible E36 (325ic) and M3; but yeah great list, that's all I would be playing with...

E36 M3 Lightweight

I love this one. Probably my fav realistic M3. I mean, the new CSL is nice, but not US bound. And, very expensive. But, the E36 Lightweight was a stripped out, tuned suspension, working aero parts, sweet piece of a car. Only 125 made, but they were only a couple $k more than a standard M3 at the time, and damn were they awesome. A guy used to auto-x one here in Omaha every now and then. Totally stock, but it would kill lots of cars of a much higher caliber. Great piece. Maybe it will show in the game. I'm not holding my breath for it, but it would be a great addition.

yeah 318iS are great cars. Defintely better handling cos of less weight up the front end. However for me........the howl of the straight6 means everything to me :nervous: 👍
