Body modding, custom tuning and GT5...

... if someone wants to paint a Fiat 500 in Gulf coulours then thats their perogative(sp) and let them away,
It need not concern you as you can either leave them in your rear view mirror or eat their dust becasue its the driving that counts...

This.👍

Cannot be put a better way. All of those who use "driving is all I care about, we don't need an editor" as an excuse need to see it this way. If the driving is really what matters to you, then why bicker on about an editor?

Well put, Killinator.

Excellent suggestion, now just to get the backing of one of the worlds largest electronics manufacturers and a team of highly skilled programmers, designers and engineers,
Why it should be simple.......

Maybe its you who need a grip on reality,
Most games developers nowadays accept ideas and criticism from fans to evolve future iterations of their game,

Should the game be tailored to people who don't want to modify cars becasue they don't like it, or remove drifting becasue someone else dosn't approve of it.
No, you give people the option, if someone wants to paint a Fiat 500 in Gulf coulours then thats their perogative(sp) and let them away,
It need not concern you as you can either leave them in your rear view mirror or eat their dust becasue its the driving that counts.

On a last note, car customisation is a massive industy, why should it not be represented in the worlds greatest* driving game.

EDIT* And no, I probably wouldn't set fire to a gulf liveried normal car, just laugh, and enjoy my own drive.

*greatest-has not been proven yet.

I totally and full-heartedly agree with you. Maybe it didn't make as much sense as I thought it did, but you just backed up the point I was trying to make. The game will be made to suit the buyer, not the 5% who get up and complain about how 'it's not pure' enough any more.

I personally, would much rather have people enjoy painting their car in their favourite colour, slapping on some wheels to match and giving it a turbo the size of mini, instead of being bored out of their minds trying to create an exact replica of some classic race car.

It's a game, not the be-all and end-all of motoring. And if it is going to as good as everyone says it will be, it's going to cater for everyone.

If thats the case then mis-understood the context of your post and apologise if I came across as overly agressive to your previous post.

I just posted this image in the Top Gear magazine thread in reference to the V10 R8...but now that I'm looking at the tabs at the bottom for GT Auto, it seems there's one for customizing bumpers, side skirts and wings.

And look at the right most one, a car with race numbers on it. Possibly implying a livery editor?

You're, like, a couple of weeks late with this. And the button on the far right is most likely the race conversion from GT2 returning.

Yeah I know it's an old image, I was digging it up to show we've known about the V10 R8 for some time. Anyways, I didn't even think of the race conversion option. D'oh.

From left to right
1. Car Wash
2. Oil Change
3. Body Paint
4. Rim Paint
5. Rims
6. Body/Aero Kits
7. Engine Upgrade/Overhaul
8. Chassis Upgrade/Overhaul
9. Racing Mods

I believe there is another tuning shop, but I'm not all that sure of what you'll find in it.

Yes, there is another tuning shop. I'd assume in the other tuning shop, it'll take you to the menus from those old screenshots showing the chassis and carbon fiber parts screen, engine upgrade and tire screen, etc. But that leaves speculation to what the engine and chassis upgrades in GT Auto will feature. Who knows, we will find out soon enough.

The pic above says GT Auto in the upper left corner. I imagine that's what's inside. đź’ˇ

That would for changing setups on the cars, such as suspension, tyres & pressures, wings, etc., at least that would be my interpretation of it. Alternatively it could just be a straight link to companies like Mine's, Amuse, Spoon, etc., depending on the car you have.

Look at my second pic. You can clearly see next to the GT Auto choice there is a tuning shop choice. That's what we're speculating about.đź’ˇ

I think you're confused to what I'm saying. Let me try to be more clear:

1. 1st pic says GT Auto in upper left corner

2. 2nd pic is menu with GT Auto in the lower right corner

I'm saying that, when you are playing GT5, you'll be at the 2nd picture first as a menu screen. When you click "GT Auto" it will take you to the 1st pic.

Well that's just taken for granted isn't it?

What I was saying was I wonder what the difference is between the tuning shop and the engine upgrade/overhaul as well as the chassis upgrade/overhaul is going to be.

:embarrassed: Where did you find that image? That Silvia to me looks very much like the Smokey Nagata/Top Secret S15, however the Top Secret car had decals and green wheels on it. Maybe I'm getting carried away because I've just read an article on this car and it just so happens to be a white S15 I don't know. Still, we can dream right?

Edit: Okay, I got a little over-excited! The car I was think of is an S14.5. Still, I definitely recognise those front arches as an aftermarket kit. It may be the PD have just copied a kit to make a few generic ones, it still shows much more body customisation than I ever imagined! Roll on a livery editor!

What I would be worried about would be the attraction of lesser car diehards to the series. Let's not lose the purity of GT's fan base.
WARNING: The quoted post is full of smug. Proceed with caution.

Really though, if there's one thing we really don't need, it's elitists who think they know who should and who shouldn't be allowed to play GT5. I don't have either GT prologue because to me they're little more than a lame demo to me. (and in the case of GT4P, I didn't even know there was a prologue until after I had GT4). Does that make me too "casual" to be worthy of GT5? I've preordered the collector's edition from Amazon, should I give up my order so a high and mighty Hardcore GT Player like Zmann can have it?

Sorry for the RAEG, but I never tire of pointing out the illogic of baseless smugness.

WhatÂ’s going GT Planet like I said before on posting some photoÂ’s of some Body Molding that I think may come to GT5 once released.
I'm very hopeful that you're right, and we'll be able to create our own tuner cars, especially the Standards since those will be most of the cars in GT5. I also like very much that image JDMKING dug up, and hope this is an indication of both the body modding we can do, as well as a hint of the race modding GT5 will offer us.

Now, if Kaz could juuust squeeze in that Livery Editor, GT5 would be ultimate...

I'm really looking forward to the Livery Editor's power now since I received the info I got last night as well the info and got this morning. I don't have the time to look over it due to I'm on my way to work. Once I get home I'll look through it and post any new findings. As of a few weeks ago the Editor as been confirmed.

That Cr-z that`s in the middle of the green challenger and the NSX race car (gt500?) looks like it`s got a aftermarket hood and gold rims. Is that hood carbon fibre or is it painted? Sorry if this is old, but I haven`t seen anyone mention it yet...
