Bonus Race 6 - Indy Road Course - Corvette

I'm interested to hear what time people are doing and in what Vettes with which mods for this one. I estimate that the leader man is doing 1:38's from the get go.

Just add racing mediums. Jobs a good'un. Should get to the front on the 4th tour

Bashed the rear bumper off the lead car
smashed him into the walls
pushed him off the corners...
and won by a large margin.. was a good time.
but not the credit/time ratio I was aiming for...

I wanted to do this as quickly as possible so I used my ZR-1 RM. Won easily.

I've never bought a ZR-1, so I used my Corvette Stingray '69. It was already fully modified after I used it to win some B-Spec races. Even with the modifications I only won by 4 seconds, but it was just great throwing it into the corners 👍

I don't believe you!! I took 3 tries to beat that Camaro SS '10 with my fully upgraded stingray and I was always 7-8 secs behind him at the finish line. That was the best I could do with the stingray even when doing 1:49's (which I think is as fast as the Stingray will do on this track).

I got so fed up I RM'd a ZR-1 and nearly lapped the darn Camaro...

The Camaro is a freaking ringer....while its running on Sport Hard if you look at the replay the car had racing exhaust and it barely rolls in the corner...He was running 1:44s(with like 40+ sec head start on the first lap) on Sport Hard means the car was very much tuned, consider recently I drove a bunch of cars on this track and with some pretty heavily tuned car on Sport Medium only got the time down to 1:36-1:37s(not Corvette).

Although reading R1600Turbo's post though I should be able to do it with the car I am using now...just lost it by 20+ sec.

I was trying with 1990 ZR-1 all mods and hard racing tyres but could not get him even with several attempts and TC on, closest I got to him he was at the end of the straight as I was about to cross the line. Gave up and grabbed my indy grinder.

Try the corvette c4 grand sport '96 with all mods.
i used it and won pretty easy

I did have problems catching the Camaro. I failed the first 2 times, so I just bought some Racing Medium tyres, drove as hard as I could without going of the track and took him near the end of lap 5. Just to be clear, I used the 1969 Premium Stingray which has everything added to it, plus the gear ratios were just right for the Indy circuit.

This one was PITA to do 2am. I tried and tried with a road car C6 Z06 and can't cut down to be closer than 10 sec at the end(~610 bhp, Sports Soft, Max Weight Reduction, Racing Suspension, close ratio 6 speed...etc). You basically needs 5 laps averaged in 1:36 flat to match the lead Camaro's time, so counting first lap being slow(I've done no better than 1:40 flat) you need 5 laps running 1:35 flat. And that was HARD to do, the best I've mustered with that car was 1:36.5 and that was 1 out of 4 laps. The car brakes very oddly as it just seems to lack it regardless where I got my bias or pressure set(actually planning to investigate this further with the aid of the logger next time.). At the end I just gave up and switched to the RM Z06 running at just over 700bhp on RH and just collect the credit...

Corvette in this game outside of the RM model drives very badly, the C5 I tried earlier was a mess too as that car has 0 rear grip....I don't know if PD try to perpetuate some stereo type or something...

I used the ZR1 09 fully tuned with RM & race soft 1.5 million in 6 minutes, and won by 30+ seconds, nice ! shame you cant do it over and over realy .

I can confirm that it can be done with the 69 Stingray and I'm not super great or anything, I just have a lot of persistence. It was very hard to do and must have taken me at least half a dozen attempts. The key is to set the transmission just right and a lot of traction control (by yourself, rather than the assist; in fact turning the assist off might save you 10 seconds): I like to skid, drift, smoke, etc with this car (great drifting car for pavement!) but smooth braking and smooth acceleration will save you much more time on a track than you think. It's a challenge, but definitely not an impossible one.

I only had like 1 hour till I had to leave for the airport... and of course my damn ps3 had to update just that moment... so after the wait I quickly grabbed my ZR1 RM and my Scuderia and earned some loot before it was time to go!

Even with every upgrade (still a lower HP than other cars in this race) and racing tires you will still have to tune the 69 and drive well in order to pass the lead driver in the last lap (assuming you drive clean and don't touch other cars).

This is my second Online Seasonal Events, but I vow to do many of them because of the RIDICULOUS amount of money earned for even winngin 2nd and 3rd.

I bought a used Corvette from the Online used dealership, did an engine and chassis overhaul, maxed out all upgrades, then raced. I didnt know the track at all, but learnt it well enough 10 laps in (two races), each time finishing 2nd.

I am +11s from 1st,

I need to learn how to tune, my top speed is 305km.hr on the straight.

any tuning suggestions on camber and suspension, or should I hunt down these forums for help? I am a noob when it comes to grasping the immediate know-how of tire alignment/tuning, and gear ratios.

I kinda know what I want: I want a car that handles the corners on a good rev to push out in 3rd gear, and a car that flies stable through the indy curve to the straight to top out at 325km/hr. The rest I will juggle.

Somehow I didn't own any Vettes before now, so I saw it as an opportunity to invest in a new ZR-1. Took it stock to the race, and got second easily (though it slides quite a bit), but the Camaro was gaining on me the entire time (first race in this game I've actually experienced that). So I put the RM tag on the car, only adjusted the brakes, and beat the Camaro by 16 seconds. The lead car isn't RM as far as I could tell, but I think it must've been fully modified otherwise.

As someone else mentioned, the other opponents are basically there to slow you down, and it's hard not to get affected by their large, cumbersome size in the turns. I'm willing to bet I made up most of my ground on the flat-out section where I was easily exceeding 200mph.

I'd had a Grand Sport edition in my garage already, so I thought I'd use that; save the cost of credits for buying a new 'Vette.

Wound up dumping EVERY mod in the tuning shop into it to make up the leader time difference. -_-

Bought a Z06 changed the oil got soft sports and ecm tune, got 4th place behind the camaro by 40+ seconds.. got upset at ridiculous lead and race scripting.. bought out eh ZR1 RM ... then profit. I was putting down 1:45 with the Z06 and around 1:32 with the RM.

I have a '09 ZR-1 RM that I just bought and setup for American Championship Indy grinding (full mod, racing soft)...did not sort out the suspension for road racing and ended up in the grass on the first attempt doing circles. Next attempt, after messing with the spring rates, roll bars, and brake balance...made to second place and behind the Camaro SS by about 3 seconds...mostly due to oversteer issues. Debating whether it's worth the effort for a third try to get first since I'll have to mess with tuning further and throw off my oval setup...
