I was trying with 1990 ZR-1 all mods and hard racing tyres but could not get him even with several attempts and TC on, closest I got to him he was at the end of the straight as I was about to cross the line. Gave up and grabbed my indy grinder.

Same car here...the best i could was 8 seconds behind. fully loaded whit racing soft tyres

I just won it at the 6th time of asking with the Z06 C5.
5th try I lost by 0.003. 6th try I won by half a second

I used the ZR1 09 fully tuned with RM & race soft 1.5 million in 6 minutes, and won by 30+ seconds, nice ! shame you cant do it over and over realy .

You can you just don't get the money and XP ;) If you'd get the XP over and over again, I guess almost everyone would be level 40 by now...

Just done this one now and well:

  • 1st try stock ZR1 with oilchange --> 8th 9:23 best lap 1:48:xxx
  • 2nd try ZR1 RM stock --> 4th 8:44 best lap 1:43:xxx
  • 3rd try ZR1 RM with race soft --> 1st 7:49 best lap 1:30:xxx

I'm not the best driver at all but that's not the point, this is just immense what race soft tires do! It's 12 second faster a lap than sport hards :irked: but it was fun nonetheless 👍

That is useful for comparison. All I was seeing is "I won with..." but not the time they did it in. The best I've done with the '06 Z06 I already had is 2nd by about 16 seconds running 1:36 lap times. 616 HP and racing mediums.

When I first tried this I had my C3 Stingray Convertible completely modified. And it very clearly wasn't quick enough. By the last lap I believe I was in 2nd but still about 15 seconds behind the Camaro. Maybe it was just me...

Yep thats what happened to me several times. That's the point when you have to start tuning the car (the transmission) and driving extra efficiently to gain that 15 seconds. It's not an easy victory, but that's why it feels so good when you finally succeed.

ZR1, Soft Tires, wing and the low speeds turbo. It was fun and not very hard, Won for 2 or 3 seconds. After passing the truck is a fun, entertaining and challenging (although not hard) race :).

Yeah, I tried with the C3 but it was hard. I love how well I tuned it though. with the aerodynamics a shiny wellow and a big motor it looks like a race car. It also drives like a dream, I'd like an event to use it later :).

Can someone explain the logic of putting 5 pickups in a race with a Corvette? I thought the idea was to make the vehicles at least look like competition...

Can't wait to do this race! :)

I'm curious to see if anyone could do this on sports tires. Had to put racing tires on the C5 Z06 I used after I finished 2nd on sports by over 30 seconds...

I have a '09 ZR-1 RM that I just bought and setup for American Championship Indy grinding (full mod, racing soft)...did not sort out the suspension for road racing and ended up in the grass on the first attempt doing circles. Next attempt, after messing with the spring rates, roll bars, and brake balance...made to second place and behind the Camaro SS by about 3 seconds...mostly due to oversteer issues. Debating whether it's worth the effort for a third try to get first since I'll have to mess with tuning further and throw off my oval setup...

The default settings on the RM ZR-1 are enough to obliterate and destroy with over a minute of advantage this event 👍.

A Z06 RM holds true with the statement above too, they really made the RMable corvettes shine with the suspension and aero tuning.

I got a C5 Z06 from a gift car ticket; it's enough to pass the pickup trucks but not enough to catch the last of the musclecars. I'll try a few more times - I'm still getting used to this overpowered brute of a Corvette - but I think I'll end up buying a new ZR1 and seeing where it goes from there.

C6 ZO6 with oil change and racing softs only. Only abs 1 was used. Fastest lap was 1:32.834, finished 8.760s ahead of the camaro.

Im using the ZR1 RM with sports softs. After 3 runs Im still 7 seconds behind the lead car. The problem for me is to get the beast to take the tight turns in the middle section with any kind of speed. The trick must be to keep the car stable at high speeds AND easy to turn in at low.
I guess using a wheel must be a great advantage over a controller for this kind of car?

Edit: Adjusting the aero parts gave me more control over the turns, and more than 1 sec/lap. 4. run only 0,452 sec behind.

Run 6. Won by 0,628 secs. ZR1 RM, no powerupgrades, no partstuning other than adjusting aeroparts. Sports Soft.

RM 'Vette on racing softs, fully modified, the event was sooo easy... 1st at 4 laps...

Ran this race two ways first attempt with the 69 Stingray well tuned first attempt lost by 2 sec reset tranny and suspension kept loosing by more than 10sec lost the handle for some reason.
Got upset and went to the dealership and bought my 09ZR-1 (have wanted it ) some racing softs and crushed the field HaHa! then equiped it with the RM

The race was too easy with the ZR-1 RM. So I just had some fun punting the other cars into the walls, pitting them on the straights, hitting them on the doors.

Did anyone else do this to make the race more fun? :P

I am determined to win this with the used ZR-1 C4 1990, full restored and maxed, but I cannot finish the 5 laps any faster than 10s behind 1st. Lap AVG tmies is 1:37:00 , I know I'm driving it now with an improper tune, because from defaults, I toyed with too many settings.

As it is, the car always understeers in almost every corner. it is very stable though, zero tail outs. I can gun out of every apex, but I cannot go faster than I'd like to in turns. I have to brake from 305km'hr down to 95-100 to take the S turns. I have trouble negotiating a 100km turn without understeer on the long turn leading up to the connected sharp right. I cannot do the double hairpins any faster than 60-65. And coming out to the highspeed curve, it understeers all the way to the wall at 195km/hr, taking the next high speed turn only at 249 km/h.

Do I soften springs? do I raise front more?

racing tires are on.

question about Turbo kit, should I mount only lvl1 or lvl2? doesnt lvl3 turbo do all previous but better?

I have to reduce the rear wing too, change it to type A.

The funniest notion is that I believe I have been driving the vette all week bottomed out without realizing. (Front at -3)

Had a fully tuned RM ZR-1 from earlier... So, no challenge here. Most of the new seasonal events required cars I already had, so, LOTS of profits this time :)

Another +1 for the premium '69 Stingray. Fully modded with transmission tuned to the track and racing softs. Laps between 1:39s worst and 1:33s best. One off onto the grass somewhere. One truck rear ended hard. Caught the Camaro at start of long final turn onto the banked track. Would have cruised by but rear-ended him by mistake, ended up side by side for the drag to the finish bumping all the way, won by 0.062sec :)

Can you post the tune you have used? I like that car, but still haven't found the right settings...

Sent using GTPlanet for Ipad. Fantastic work Jordan!

I had so much fun doing this seasonal event. It was frustrating at first because at the start, I thought I could do this race with minimal modifications on my ZR1 (C6) '09.

At first, I just had weight reductions, racing soft, all of drivetrain mods, cpu, intake system, manifold and catalytic converter, only installed in my car. I started the race and I couldnt even get pass the 7th position.

So, I added more mods into it, level 1 engine upgrade, suspension mod, and some aerodynamic parts mods from the shop(minus the rear wing, I wanted it to be spoiler free:tup:) I started my race and I got pass 7th position, and reached 2nd place but my time from the lead car was just too far away. I didnt have enough laps to cover that really big gap.

I went back in the tuning shop, added a level 3 engine upgrade, and a supercharger. I started my race again, and I barely managed to make it to 3rd place. The car handled terrible and the first turn was always my problem. So for the last time, I stopped the race to get some proper tuning done.

I decided to add a spoiler to help add some downforce to help me handle the car better, and it did very well with some minor tuning with it. I also adjusted my ride height and springs. Then my brakes. I went for a practice run to help me fine tune the little bits in the car. It still wasn't handling well as I hope it will, it was a big improvement from the last right but still not quite right.

For the last time I went to tune my car. I adjust some minor numbers on my ride height and springs. My brakes and my downforce settings were tuned for the best oversteer set-up, without me losing control of the car. I went for a practice race again, I almost narrowed down the time from the lead car.

I stopped that practice race and finally started my final race in which I drove with clean lines around corners, thanks to my oversteer setting, braking and raw BHP. I managed to take lead halfway through the 4th lap. Finally, I finished the race at 1st place and earned all the prize money and exp to help me get over lvl 28.

Can I just add though, why in the world the ZR1 (C6) has blue brake pedals? lol I dont mind it but it just doesnt go with my body paint.

I used this event as an excuse to buy the '63 Vette race car that was in my UCD last night, only to find out it's not eligible. :irked:

I guess a little research would have determined that. Oh well, I'll race it somewhere else.

Can you post the tune you have used? I like that car, but still haven't found the right settings...

Sure. I love this car and was glad to get to use it for this. The following worked for me:

Premium Corvette Convertible (C3) '69
Aero kit: front and rear wing installed.
All maximum weight reductions + chassis reinforcement.
All maximum engine, intake and exhuast upgrades.
Supercharger installed.
All maximum transmission, drivetrain and suspension upgrades.
Racing soft tyres.
Settings (F/R)
Aero: Rear 12
Transmission: top speed 320 km/h
LSD Rear: Initial 10, Accel 30, Braking 18
Ride Height: -20/-20
Spring Rate: 10.0/8.5
Dampers Ext: 5/5
Dampers Comp: 4/4
Anti-Roll: 4/4
Camber: 0.5/0.0
Toe: 0.00/+0.20
Brakes: 4/3

Currently @ 598 HP, 1257 Kg

I use a DFGT wheel.

Lost the first 2 attempts by less than a second, tweaked to try to increase oversteer in mid and corner exit a bit, and 3rd time was the charm. If I hadn't accidentally rammed the Camaro at the start of the final long turn, I could have won very comfortably but it was fun dragging for the photo finish. Lap time improvements were probably more due to learning the track and finding better lines with each lap raced. Very fun race with this car.

after reading Scaff's guide to tuning, I got 1st place (mid-last lap) in my used C4 '00. Albeit, there is zero tolerance for any single mistake. It was a blast to drive a corvette, as is to discover driving so many classic cars.

Thank you Scaff and GTPlanet, for helping me shave off time to win with a challenge in mind.

Add me to the list of people who bought the '63 race vette for this challenge.:banghead:
