I used my Impreza Prodrive Style at 375Hp and Sports Softs. I couldn't do it and the car was trying to get sideways on me all the time so I bought a sports suspension and extra rigidy. I won, but the car was still trying to get into a drift on most corners, even with the grippy tires and SRF forced-on.

Finally made it 'round in 7:31 with the Impreza RM on racing softs, with the race filter and cat added. For my style I had to go into the suspension and tighten the front dampers a bit to moderate the car's tendency to dive under braking. Once that was done I finally was confident enough of my footing to run down the leader. Caught him in Galgenkopf, passed him on the straight, lost the lead when he passed right back, and then put him behind for good with a late-brake/second pass in Tiergarten.

Had managed 2nd without the suspension tweak but was 10 secs behind the leader. That one was a bit of a miracle finish because I passed #3 in the final chicane and the #2 just past the chicane, a place I'd previously thought wasn't wide enough to accommodate a move. Both passes were clean, too.

I took the Impreza with the same setup out on the Mt. Azo 4WD seasonal and wiped the floor with the field. But the RM Mitsubishi Evo on identical tires was 2 secs a lap faster on the course despite having 50-60 fewer horses.

Did the race a total of five times with a '99 Impreza I won in rallying. I started off with basically a stock car but in the end had and came in 5th. Ended up with 450hp-ish, trans set to 180mph, racing softs, no stability control, untuned suspension (just drop + stiffer shocks), ABS at 5, stage 1 diet. Came in 2nd. Twice.

Very challenging, getting a good clean start is the key. At the end of the day it is much less about the car and much more about knowing the track and skill, which is what it should be, which is why it is fun.

BTW, on a somewhat related note, recently had the opportunity to drive a '11 STI sedan for a week - what an awesome car, much better than the '02 WRX I used to own.

took my 22b to 380ish hp, added sports softs and ended up 6s off the win. The stock gearing killed it for me.

Used the same car and, yeah, that stock transmission had to go. Between that and some other tunes (plus the fact that I kinda suck at Nordschleife), I think it took me 4 or 5 tries to win. But, when I did win - slowly closing on the leader on that last long high-speed stretch and then cutting inside him on the last corner to finally take the lead - it was one of the most satisfying victories of my GT5 career!

Used this car - Subaru IMPREZA Sedan WRX STI '10 from the Dealership - I liked the color. :)
Basically if you don't make mistakes and drive a bit slow but steady ... well ... you win! :dopey: Even with 3 major mistakes I managed to catch the leader on the last straight and passed even before the end corners complex.
Used racing soft tires. :dopey:
BTW, that car is fun to drive in corners! Definitely trying it again. :dopey:

I also used a 22B, fresh engine rebuld and rigidity restore. Bone stock except Racing Soft tyres and won by 5.xxx secs or thereabouts.

I too used a 22B, picked up from the online UCD, gave it soft racing, oil change, body rigity etc. and won by overtaking a GT-R on the final big straight

I used a '10 Impreza WRX STI sedan, race soft, all bolt on mods which can be reversed to stock, low end turbo, race exhaust, sports adjustable suspension set to -5 f/r, all non hp adding mods except weight reduction. Also only used standard tranny. The car is around 407hp. First attempt, I came in second by .715 because I spun trying to pass 3 bunched cars. Managed to win by 7 seconds on my second try after getting used to the car and doing careful passing. Pretty sure I can do a lot better, but why bother now, I won all the money. :)

I wouldn't worry. I have been driving the ring in Gran Turismo for years and i can still not take someone through every corner off the top of my head.
And I agree it's one of the more difficult, but didn't you have the best feeling when you came 1st? Its nice to blast through and get the rewards but nothing compares to a challenge which makes u take the car to the limit to win by a small margin

Yup, it did indeed feel good to finally race a clean enough lap and win.

I also tried the 22b after the first run with the RM'd Impreza. Wow, what a different car...

Used the 2010 saloon on Sports Softs and tuned to around 375bhp and got 2nd with a lap of 7:40 on my first attempt ad 7:34 and 1st on my second!! Made a few mistakes in both laps but they only cost me a few seconds.

I agree this was a fun race. I enjoy the ring much more in moderately powered cars. Not a fan of driving the ring in a FGT. I used the STI 10 from the dealership that I had purchased earlier. There was a recent article in Road and Track about the 2010 STI Sedan and it mentioned that Tommi Makinen set a record lap around the ring (for a sedan) in a time of 7:55 (stock of course). I was curious as to how close I could get to that time. I did not get very close unfortunately.

Having a bit of a mare on this track with the IMPREZA Sedan WRX STI '10. Even with a turbo and racing hard, I can only get 2nd.

Is this not a decent car to use in this event?

I used the 2005 STi and performed the Racing Modification to it, equipped the racing soft tires and a "mid" turbo upgrade and walked 2nd place by at least 10 seconds. No worries.

i used a fully tuned IMPREZA Sedan WRX STI '10.

Seetings: Suspension: Height F/R -8, Bounce: F 9.2/R 10.3, Damper: all to 6, Stabilizers: all to 2, Front angle -10 & transmission to 310 km/h = 192.63 mph

Aids: only abs=on (1)

Did the race on multiple accounts again & again to earn the cash. And it's a hell of fun. :)

My best time was 6:58:xx, with the pad 👍

If you have trouble with the Nürburgring, do first the AMG Challenge. Really i big help. Watch the previews. ;)

I used a moderately tuned Impreza Sedan WRX STI '10, with Engine Tune 3, stripped everything else back off I could. Weight Reduction 3 and Chassis Reinforcement were already installed. Set the car down to Comfort Soft tires, took win at last chicane following the high speed straight before the finish.

This event was the hardest out of the new seasonal events especially with the gap you have to make up, plus the lead car was a skyline r34 midnight purple, hard to catch when its got a 40 second lead, good race though overall, Good luck.

22b 365hp sport soft tranny set at 280km/h fun race ftw

I have to say I've enjoyed all the seasonals at nordschleife, from what seemed the completely wacky Nascar run, running around in a Golf and the current Subaru one.

For me, the exact opposite. The Ring is better suited to a time trial than having to bash and scrape my way past the AI on a 1 1/2 lane road. I'd rather see the seasonals use some of the unused configurations of real life tracks (like Fuji GT, Circuit de la Sarthe - no chicane, and Monza - no chicane SSR7) or more Course Maker tracks.

For the Ring, I'd love to see a series where you have to beat the actual car's time on the actual track (not the normal seasonal time trial setup) for XP and money.

Definetly the 22b is the most used car for this event.

Change the tranny like said before to 280 and soft tires.

Is not difficult with this car.

Regards!

Used the RM'd 05 for this one....drove an ugly ass lap and still won by over 4 seconds. ( After 3 second place finishes )

I was pissed that I couldn't use my WRC 2008, but I instead did this with my fully tuned WRX STI '08 instead. I have every Premium Impreza fully tuned.

First attempt: '10 STi. 341hp and SS with adjustable suspension, stock tranny, aero and Stage 1 weight. 2nd by 0.4s

Second Attempt: same as above, but with racing tranny. Won by 3 secs.

Third attempt: 22B wit 320ish HP, SS adjustable suspension, racing tranny and stage 1 weight. Won by 5 secs.

22B has huge top end speed advantage over the '10 STi so it much easier to win with.

I used the impreza 22B from ocd and added ecu, sport exaust, manifold, sport air filters, engine stage1 and turbo stage 2,sport suspension with sport soft tires...won by 15 seconds

First Time I used a 360 bhp"´04 spec C" on Sports Softs (only power upgraded , rest stock).

You can find a Video of this run in Post #143 in the "immaculate Challenges " thread.

Had a lot of fun with this event, I have 7 Imprezas (excluding the rally cars) so decided first to run these all stock to learn the corners again, I still don't know the 'Nurb particularly well and from these on sports hards the best I managed was 6th.

I then decided to tune the Impreza WRX STI 08 hatch to that of the Subaru Impreza Cosworth that exists in real life (around 400bhp), upgraded the flywheel/clutch, painted it in a deep black colour (was initially red) and upgraded the tyres to sport mediums. Managed to win by outbraking the Skyline at the end of the long straight in a time of 7.32. :)

I used the '10 model for this, tuned it with an ECU, stage one engine, cheap exhaust and racing filter. Put in a custom trans and suspension. It ended up being an enjoyable challenge, with 360bhp I was a little under the AI and won it on the last corner by .7 seconds. Good times!

Used a 2001 Wagon with engine mods, standard turbo, sports suspension and weight reduction. Took a few goes but won on try 3. Thing has a tendancy to go into irrecoverable tank slapper and always end up facing the wrong way as I caught first place. Really enjoyable race though.

I used a Subaru 22b sti, full upgraded it and was the easiest thing ever... this is by far the best subaru in the game (all arounder of course). I used it in other versions of gran turismo and it never let me down. Its on sale on the collectors online...

don't see the problem box standard recent Imprezza with sports cpu and airfilter and soft tires :-) all aids off :-)

did go from the first time :-)

approx 15-20 restarts, and maybe half of that amount completed laps, Won 7:38 (cutoff the leader 2nd to last corner) with the used Subaru from the OCD, toyed with some upgrades, engine / body rehaul, mid range turbo, mid-range racing tires, NO LSD, stage 2 weight reduction, and learnt the track as I went along. I feel if I knew each and every corner, I could have shaved off at least another 15-20 seconds. But knowing this track makes it so much more special. and this car is definitely my next RL purchase. The handling and confidence , for the price, is remarkable
