Borderlands 2

Interesting... I don't know why I didn't equate the news of new SDUs with new backpack and bank upgrades, I only thought ammo. I suppose it's because it's been so long since I bought either backpack or bank upgrades! 500 Eridium though, surely that's a sign of some new use for Eridium in the last DLC?

I only heard it's for the Bank/Backpack upgrade.

Either way it should be interesting, hoping they will release what color pearls are.

Most likely they will be cyan like in the last game.

What I am wondering is if they are going to make Pearlescent class mods, grenade mods and/or relics. Might change things up a bit.

Most likely they will be cyan like in the last game.

Only problem with Cyan is that if you get a green and blue together it would look like a cyan. Which is what happened to me back in 1. Thought oh yea pearl. Closer look... blue, green :grumpy:

Yeah, I used to do that a lot too. Do you remember back when the Thanatos and a couple of other guns were white? That was even worse, when I found my first Thanatos I started to wonder if I'd been accidentally missing out on even rarer than orange weapons just because I couldn't be bothered to investigate each and every white beacon. It also made me check every single white drop until they fixed it, which was annoying.

All they have to do is make it a slightly different shade to everything else and you'll notice it immediately, I mean you just tune out all white, yellow, red (not sure what colour Seraph is as I've never actually seen any!) and green so anything unusual sticks out like a huge neon sign saying 'GRAB THIS BEFORE THAT OTHER GUY DOES'.

I'm excited for Tuesday, even though I'm still happily progressing through TVH with my two Axtons.

Thats what they should have on every pearl.

Edit: More Details
Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode Details

- Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode is unlocked for a character once they have completed the main story missions in True Vault Hunter Mode and reached level 50.
- Unlike other playthroughs, Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode can be replayed multiple times with players able to reset their overall mission progress at any time from the Main Menu.
- No more tutorial missions -- characters in Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode begin in Southern Shelf with the "Cleaning Up the Berg" mission.
- While playing in Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode, enemies and bosses will scale according to the player's current level or, if playing with others, the highest-level player in that party.
- Gameplay changes in UVHM:

- Enemy health generally increased 4x. (Don't like)
- Enemies now have a moderate amount of health regeneration. (What now I need Super health regen?)
- Increased duration of slag damage multiplier effect. (Well okay?)
- Upped the damage that slagged enemies take from 2x to 3x. (It was at 2x? I didn't notice it)
- Weapon swap speed increased to better facilitate slag use. (Or any other weapon?)
- Enemies now more likely to drop ammo. (Really? I would rather have guns than ammo, Unless there is no ammo regen pearls)
- Loot Midgets are now "Legendary Loot Midgets" that can drop Legendary and other top-tier gear. (Does that include pearls?)

Added what I thought in bold.

So it seems they've made slag a key element now, I guess this means UVH is all about co-op. I like the sound of loot midgets having a chance to drop legendaries, does this mean we'll be able to farm those four boxes in the Preserve for them?

I really like the other changes though, being able to reset the playthrough is a nice touch particularly if it means you can get to level 61 then get level 61 quest rewards without having to save the quests you want the rewards for until the end; I've soloed many TVH playthroughs just so I could save a lot of quests so if I can play UVH without worrying about that, that'll be great. Also this should mean I can finally complete those badass challenges for optional objectives and that one where you have to save the turrets near the end. Not sure how I feel about having enemies scale to the highest level in the party regardless of whether they're the host or not, I suppose it will mean you can all level up quicker due to the increased XP but it will make it crucial to find a game with people on your level... And the matchmaker only shows the level of the host, not everyone in the game. Also I wish they'd make it show the actual quest in progress and not the story quest in progress, I hate that.

All in all I'm looking forward to this, it sounds like a proper challenge!

Well I know what I am going to do, first.

Buy the Backpack sdu and ammo,
Play until I get the Fast Travel.
Go to the Pirates
beat whoever,
Farm TR for any pearls

I am personally liking the new modes and upgrades... It was funny a few days before they announced this, me and my mate were chatting about eridium. More about it's now defunct use for us and maxed on 99, I said we need a higher cap and more eridium upgrades, like extra backpack slots.. (We kept getting the eridium jackpot on the slots and were like.. "When was this when we needed it.." That's how we got onto this subject lol.)

Seems they are on the ball on what people want, nice to see for once 👍.

This is some straight up BS. Enemy health up by 4x? Holy NUTBALLS. Most of my friends don't play BL2 all that often, I usually play alone...
Jesus, this seems like a bat to the face for people who play solo.

Plus, I already have enough trouble as it is facing groups of normal enemies when I am trying to play legit.

Its Patch Day!

Update v1.4.0 (Released 4/2/2013)

General

  • Added a new playthrough called Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode, unlocked for a character once they have completed the main story missions in True Vault Hunter Mode and reached level 50!
  • In this mode, you will always start in Southern Shelf at Cleaning Up the Berg and may reset your playthrough progress as often as you like without losing any items, levels, or stats. All enemies are significantly more difficult in this playthrough, but the loot quality has increased accordingly. Rumor has it there is an entirely new rarity of loot out there for high-level players.
  • Added new items to the Black Market:
  • One additional ammo upgrade for each ammo type, at 50 Eridium each.
  • Two more backpack storage space upgrades, at 50 and 100 Eridium respectively.
  • Two more bank storage space upgrades, at 50 and 100 Eridium respectively.
  • Increased the maximum amount of Eridium players can hold from 99 to 500.
  • Fixed a bug that was causing some users to crash on startup or when loading into a level after choosing their character.
  • Fixed a bug that could cause hosts to become invulnerable if they were being revived by a client who disconnected mid-revive.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause players to crash or freeze when fighting BNK-3R.
  • Fixed a bug that could cause Deathtrap's Robot Rampage audio to not stop playing after killing an enemy until Deathtrap despawned.
  • Fixed a bug that could stop the Gunzerker's Keep It Piping Hot skill from functioning as intended.
  • Covered an area of the world near Claptrap's ship where the player could fall in and be unable to get out.
  • Fixed an issue where a Siren could revive a player and make another player invulnerable under specific circumstances.
  • Addressed instances of audio distortion tied to Axton's turret and kill skills.
  • (Mr. Torgue DLC) Critical hits against Midgets now register properly.
  • (Mr. Torgue DLC) Rat Thief enemies are no longer allowed in Pete’s Bar due to patron concerns regarding excessive theft.
  • (Captain Scarlett DLC) Fixed an issue with the "Shady Dealings" challenge where a purchase could sometimes not count toward its completion.
Missions

  • Fixed an issue where players could be unable to interact with the menu when a mission that granted experience but not items was completed and not handled by the player before saving and quitting.
  • Fixed an issue where players could cause the round to not fail in a Slaughter mission if a surviving player disconnects while all others are out.
  • (Sir Hammerlock DLC) Thermitage is now friendlier and will no longer refuse to come play with some players.
  • Fixed issues with the following missions that could cause players to get stuck or not be able to complete them:
  • Wildlife Preservation
  • Medical Mystery
  • (Captain Scarlett DLC) Let There Be Light
  • (Mr. Torgue DLC) Eat Cookies and Crap Thunder

Equipment

  • Fixed a bug where players were able to do far more damage than intended by exploiting a buff from the Evil Smasher.
  • Clients are now able to see explosions caused by Norfleets in multiplayer.
  • Fixed an issue causing Relics to sometimes not show the Favorite indicator.
  • Fixed an issue that caused E-tech weapons to not be able to hit the Mechromancer's 'One Two Boom' orb.
  • Seraph Gear from Captain Scarlett and Mr. Torgue DLC re-balanced to be more powerful.
  • Fixed class mods that increase the skill grade of Axton's Metal Storm, Onslaught and Quick Charge skills to function as intended.
  • Fixed an exploit involving Vladof rocket launchers that could result in having infinite ammo for any weapon.
  • Fixed an issue where weapon cards would sometimes not display how many bullets they consumed per shot.
  • Mechromancer's Prodigy class mod now correctly increases reload speed.
  • Fixed an issue causing impact sounds from users with The Bee shield to not be audible on clients.
  • Adjusted Mechromancer’s Sweetheart class mod to correctly increase team health.
  • Assassin’s “Slayer of Terramorphous” class mod no longer includes Gunzerker skill bonus.
  • (Mr. Torgue DLC) Torgue vending machines can now stock legendary weapons above level 48.
  • Chere-amie sniper rifle and transfusion grenades no longer cause audio distortion.
  • Assigned price to Anshin 'Evolution' shield so that players can sell it for money if desired.

There is the full list of all the Patch notes/updates/fixes

I figured most of the update that wasn't new content would be the hotfixes rolled into an actual update, that's good, a few times I'd find level 48 gear in Torgue machines and Rat Thieves in the bar brawl, both of which get old quickly.

I can't wait to try UVH, should be interesting.

Well, they pretty much fixed the Evil Smasher. thank god.
it was almost like cheat codes for SR3. broke the entire game (sometimes literally.)

the only bad part is that I am gonna get owned. a lot, from what i heard the third playthrough changed.

People are already going at it with Level 53 stuff. So far it looks like Legendary class mods are not any better but a bit weaker than their 50 counterparts. As of right now it looks like a brighter Magenta for Pearls (Unconfirmed) In another 3 hours at lease for steam.

Have you guys seen the Poker Night 2 bonus Borderlands 2 heads and skins?

http://www.telltalegames.com/pokernight2/unlocks

I think all three platforms get all of the stuff. I really like that Assassin skin and head, I can see myself picking the game up in a Steam sale just for this gear... As sad as that is.

As for <50 legendary class mods being worse than lv50 versions... Really? Is there evidence?

You have to buy poker night 2 to get them. which is about $5.
For pearls they are indeed Cyan (Confirmed in a blog post)
Here is the pic for the Mod

Wow, that sucks! You'd expect even a bad variant of that mod at level 53 to be at least the same as a good level 50. I would hope it's possible to get a better level 53 than 50 and this guy just had the best lv50 and that's the worst lv53 you can find... But still, I'd be disappointed with that one.

Edit: just checked the wiki, apparently ALL variants of the Legendary Siren can only go up to +40% and +29%, so I guess they haven't raised that limit to suit <50 gear?

Oh and you don't just get those items from buying Poker Night 2, you have to win them in the game itself.

Pearlescent colour:

And it looks like the PC patch is out, Steam downloaded a 64.9MB patch for me about 6 minutes ago.

Aaaaaand: Steam servers are unavailable. Borderlands 2 authentication servers being DDoS'd by all the players, great!

Edit: Holy hell, this is difficult! I recommend a good Unkempt Harold, my Hellfire did less than nothing to the level 52 Bullyrotts in Liar's Berg. And Zer0's melee tree seems to be kind of useless now, I've gone from one-hitting enemies to barely even scratching them.

I really, really hate Scavengers.

I managed to make it to Sanctuary and well looks like if you are good enough maybe some Shock, Corrosive and a bit of fire seems to be the trick. The bee is kinda useful. Also I managed to only level once. :/

I've just made it to Sanctuary too, I pretty much depended on my Cobra, Harold and Bee to get there (with a Flame of the Firehawk for proper fights). It's very difficult to get second winds, too, most of the time I just give up now. I think I'll play co-op from now on...

I stopped playing too, I also found out that the exp for missions is close to 60% lower than TVHM so leveling is going to be a pain.

Holy hell.
Jesus. This seems unfair to those who mostly play solo. I really wish they would buff the Hellfire, the Volcano and Sledge's Shotgun. They are heavily underpowered, even when enemies are slagged and they are used against the right type of enemies. They buff the Seraph weapons but leave those three untouched. I am disappointed.

I don't know if this is true or not or just the way I did it, but I decided to do some pirates and it seems to be a bit easier.

Edit: If you are a seraph crystal hunter and if you have started UVHM you are in a hurt, since they will not drop in TVHM anymore.

Edit2: It appears that you can find a pearl in Sanctuary locker. However I am trying the old and long way of the TR room. (When I get there)

I'm soloing right now, just doing the first missions in The Dust. I'm using a Bee (had been swapping it out for an Impaler but I can't really be bothered any more), a slagged Conference Call, Unkempt Harold, Hawk Eye and Cobra with my Zer0 who I respecced for sniping. I'm still level 51 (about to hit 52) and I can kill level 53 Scavengers with the CC until they're slagged and then 2-4 Harold shots, as long as the distance is just right so that I can actually hit them (I suck at leading targets) and hit them with a lot of the projectiles. Huge damage, awesome gun, but best of all it's quite easy to get in the Torgue vending machines.

And yeah, my Bee has 17448 capacity, which is absolutely dire for actual combat. I do snipe from a distance but in this mission (Too Close For Missiles), I'm forced to get up close. Like I said, I can't be bothered to switch to a decent shield, so I can't really complain that I keep dying now. At least I can take down a Goliath in FFYL now though (provided I slagged him before I went down).

Edit: Ended up getting to level 53 tonight, I was going to solo my way through the dam but thought better of it. Joined a random game, had to re-do the Dust quests again (really quick the second time though) then we went through the dam, went back to Sanctuary then went back to the dam to do the other two quests there. There were plenty of deaths but it wasn't too hard, really. I'm still mainly using my level 50 legendaries too, I'm too attached to them to go back to greens and blues... Might have to crack open the Sanctuary chest soon but I think I might leave it until the Preserve as I'll need all sorts of elements to get through that.

Does anyone know if it's possible to farm the Doctor's Orders boxes for legendary loot midgets? If not I guess I'll find out tomorrow night maybe.

Just finished up Pirates main missions, and I can confirm that the TR glitch is still there.

Let the farming begin.

Nice, found anything new yet?

I've made it to level 56, I hit it just after killing a Constructor before reaching the Hyperion Preserve. I'm still using level 50 gear! I soloed the Loader battle in Overlook, it wasn't actually all that tough. Critical Ascensi0n combined with the Hawk Eye and a Bee is pretty damn good.

But: Rabid skags and stalkers are pretty much impossible for me to kill with my loadout. In order to kill one I need to get a few crits with the Hawk Eye while they charge at me, use Decepti0n before they actually hit me, run back a bit, switch to my slagged Conference Call, slag them then somehow keep avoiding being damaged (difficult because of their high attack rate) so I can switch to my Unkempt Harold and hit them while the damage is amped by the Bee. That's too many conditionals and if there are any more enemies I'm always screwed. The level 57 ones were just about ok but taking on level 58s with level 50 gear is very, very difficult! Especially since a single hit from either a skag or stalker will drop my shield and take a fairly large chunk off of my health. I have no idea how I'm supposed to kill Bloodwing like this, I left my game in the creature Slaughterdome... I think I'm going to see if it's possible to farm the four box midgets for noticeably better loot, if it is I might do that a few times (I have no idea how I'll actually kill the midgets though) and see if I can get some decent gear that way.

Well not really, Had to respec my setup 2 different times due to those pesky toxic sandworms.

Would post if and when I get a pearl.

Edit: After reading some stuff, it looks like a lot of people are getting pearls more and more off of random mobs, And Legendary weaps in lockers in Sanctuary? Guess anything can happen.

I haven't found anything better than a purple so far but I've found a few in lockers in Sanctuary. I've heard the legendary drop rates in UVH are closer to the first game's than Blands 2's.

Is it possible to get Torgue tokens in TVH still? And do the Torgue machines scale to levels above 50 in UVH? Seems like a long shot but I'd like to update my Unkempt Harold...

And my friends wonder why I kept a level 50 Miss Moxxi's Endowment...
Man, I always knew those god damn friggin' rabid skag/stalkers were OP as hell. I hate them about as much as I hate drifters in the first game, with their aimbot acid globs that just pwn your vehicle.

I think what I am gonna do is find my best corrosive weapon, and then trailblaze to Tundra Express, get some badass varkids to spawn. Hopefully I won't get my ass handed to me on a silver platter. I heard that Pearls spawn more so from badasses, and I won't mind pegging those ironclad morons a new one.

I think it's the same way with Seraph crystals, if you start UVHM they will not be in TVHM. Again, a bad move if you are trying to farm something high but don't want the craziness from the x4 health regen.

Edit: 2nd run through of the TR, First was a legendary class mod yesterday now this morning first run was this...
