Boring??

I love the new seasonals.
As I did the last one.

I think it's great fun driving lower PP cars.
trying to win the 400 PP race with a 350PP or something car is a challenge to me ;)

It's all down to personal taste I guess :sly:
the most difficult bit of the 400pp is that it is only 3 laps, i did it in the mini cooper s 11 with SH otherwise stock, and could only catch the lead prelude type S in the final quarter of the final lap

so whoever said it was boring...get a shower and think again

go and win them with comfort hard tyres, and then come back and tell me it's still no challenge. more fun that way.

Did the 400PP race with a Toyota 86 downtuned to 400PP, on CH tyres. Tried many many many times before I won it at the very last corner. One of the more enjoyable events I've done recently. 👍 Will probably do it again just for the heck of it.

I did the 650PP Seasonal at GVS in my S2000 Touring Car @ 516PP. That was a lot of fun. :D

Used a Daihatsu Move SR-XX tuned to 400PP on SS tires. Took the lead mid way through 3rd lap.

Now trying a fully tuned one (470PP) on RS tires for the 500PP race. Getting 2nd currently. Need to sort out the transmission better and drive a clean race to catch the leader. Have to pass him before the turn onto the front straight and then block him because the car just doesn't have enough acceleration and top speed to catch or even keep up with the AI in a drag race.:D

I'm the opposite, I *love* and prefer to race in normal cars. I'm far better at it than the high PP cars.

I usually race with no line, no suggested gear, and ABS-1 and nothing else. To beat Madrid I had to turn on the line, suggested gear, and run TCS-2 (although I probably could have left the TCS off).

With the normal car races I enjoy seeing what kind of cars I can win in. Like tuning up a Toyota 86 GT and seeing what I can do in the 500 PP challenge.

The only problem I've found with tailoring the seasonals to your own pace is the random inclusion of a "killer car" that's way faster than the rest, which has always been a problem with races, even in offline a spec. At least being able to buy new bits for your car whilst trackside can mitigate this occasionally.

Still, a good benchmark is to knock 10-15% off the max pp and see where that gets you. Even 2nd and 3rd are decent payouts on the new events.

If the DLC is online when I get home tonight I'll be trying out some of the new cars on these events. Aventador at Madrid, anyone?

I think the new seasonal is quite fun.

Finally can drive my Peugeot 307 on the 400pp, my Charger Super Bee on the 500pp and the McLaren F1 GTR on the 650pp.

Easy credits, but still fun to drive (like the Rome and Madrid tracks)

Tokyo was wicked fun with the premium Evo X. Tried it bone stock with SS tyres and lost by 0,8sec, did some minor suspension tuning and won by 4 seconds :) Good fun, those GT-R's put up a great battle. Saved the 650PP race for later, not sure what car I wanna use there.

They are not so boring, I am happy with the seasonals, but what is missing a little in the seasonal events is some originality. It is again 400pp, 500pp, 650pp, so almost always the same AI cars as before.

Why not some variation, 350pp, 250pp, 550pp and so on?

Why not a 1 vs 1 battle starting from the same line, so that we can really have the same speed as the AI? Maybe two classes of cars, and you compete only against one of them (e.g., we compete with 250pp cars with some parallel ferrari race on the circuit, or the reverse)

Why no specific car seasonals, like Clio/Polo/... race car cup, 2cv vs beetles, all VW golf,... Skyline/S2000 only (we have enough, so let's use them), premium RMed only, ... The only one that we got (not in offline races) for the moment was the civic and F1 seasonals if I remeber

What I also don't like is that to be able to be first in the seasonals, you HAVE TO be quicker than the leader (you can use confort hard or any handicap, this rule does not change), so it is impossible to have a close race with any car, once you catch the leader it is done. The only way to have a close race is to make it close not with the leader, but some car in the last position, then you have a battle but you cannot win. The offline races were better in this respect because by starting in the middle and not 20 sec behind the leader, you can really set you car to have a very close race all the way. Again, variation is what I would just suggest, I like seasonals that we have, but other additional forms would be appreciated.

Do they ever have seasonals like the very first ones that came out. I lost my internet a few months after GT5 came out and just got it back right before christmas. Those seasonal events was very fun and very had if anyone remembers them. I know you can still make them hard for yourself, that's what I have done, but its just not the same when u can get a faster car if u really can't beat it. I remember when they came out I had to come on here to get a few tunes to win them. I suck at tuning, and with them you had to tune your car to win witch made them hard but really fun, maybe I would of learned how to tune if I could of kept doin them.

So does anyone know if they still do any of them like the first few seasonal event that came out?

You talk about the expert challenges, with the Fiat, Elise etc.
Not really, after that one mainly easy ones got released...

Yea that's the ones, well that's too bad, but I guess u can't complain when its a year and a half later and they are still adding new stuff to the game.

They want to keep everyone happy and on the same playing field.
Personally I would love to see 3 levels added to each seasonal races. Easy, moderate and hard. They could control it with tires, strict pp, ........etc. That would would include everyone but give the real racers more challenge.

I had a lot of fun doing these seasonals. A stock Lancia Delta from the dealership on comfort softs for the Rome race was amazing. Got as close as 0.3 secs to the winning Prelude on several occassions before finally winning it by half a second or something, with my last lap being 1.31.6 I think.

The Tokyo one, couldn't find a good car to win it with, always only ended up in 6th or something before ending 3rd.. Finally I won with a tuned up NSX Type-R (tuned it to 497 pp) on hard sports tyres.

The Madrid race with the Skyline R34 TC is fun too. The leading Fairlady Z LM Race Car wasn't too easy to catch.:)

So, these seasonals are as boring as you make them yourself. If you think it's boring, use another car that's not so good and use tyres that are at max equal to what the AI cars are using.:)

Yes and yes, I agree

I remember there was one Expert seasonal - Fiat 500 around Trial Mountain and Subaru around Laguna? I loved those events, they were really challenging. But I also remember so many moaners on the boards.

Moaning moaners who moaned about the difficulty.

PD really are damned if they do and damned if they don't. They've been forced into this generic challenge where you as the player makes it as hard as you want. I still enjoy that so its not too bad, but id love for them to chuck in a curve ball every once in a while.

did the 500pp with the new AM V12 Vantage reduced to 430HP, tweaked the brake balances otherwise as is, boy was that fun as driving it is like as if i was trying to catch an eel, my race had a TVR Griffith and a V8 Esprit as well as an NSX-R (the toughest opponents in this category alongside the Evora), and the eel slid its way into the top of a British trifecta...

500 PP Tokyo: Used an RX-7 Spirit A completely stock (Sports Hard). You can't make too many mistakes with this combo and still win, but it should be doable for many.

650 PP Madrid: Tried with the Ford GT Test Car stock on Racing Hards. Came as close as 0,5 seconds to the leading BMW McLaren in my third try, but was too far off for outbraking him for the last chicane. It would have been possible to win with hitting all the braking points and slipping through all the gaps, but I was already tired so I then took softer tyres.

The three tries where I didn't win were way more fun though.

How about tokyo in a fiat 500, that concentrates the mind. I've been running it since i got in from work its awesome. That lotus takes a bit of catching tho....:)

In fact i'm going to start a new thread on the most out there car for tokyo, any old super car can blast it.

My thoughts too, i have plenty of cars which i like the way they are and although i might be able to tune them up further I'd like to see PP caps of 300, 425, 580 and things like that - variation. I dont want to grind in the same car in every seasonal lol

If anyone thinks these seasonals are boring, then spice it up with different cars you never would use! I used a 1.4 Corsa Comfort on Rome and came first, then came second in my fully pimped out Fiat I.e 90! Only weighs 600kg so if you hit the kerbs on Tokyo you fly round corners on two wheels! Anyone else done this?

Yes, I can make these more challenging by using a "David" car but regardless it still feels like I am basically doing a 3-5 lap time trial with traffic. Even the expert seasonals were the same. I just have to make up x number of seconds past essentially scripted traffic.

A real race would be nice but failing that at least using some imagination in the scenario would be a start.

How about, for example, replicating the final 5 - 10 laps of an endurance race, you have to choose an LMP1 car, you are third or fourth in class, you are half a lap down on the class leader and your tyres are [at the start of the race] partially worn and your fuel MIGHT take you through to the end of the race depending on how much you mash the throttle. Between you and the leader lay 12-13 GT1 cars battling for the lead of their class and 2-3 LMP1 cars from your own class.

Though it is still just chasing the rabbit, it is at least chasing the rabbit with a plausible back story.

Talking of endurance, some longer seasonals (around the length or longer than the current B-Spec expert challenges) would be great as at least then you can have some fun with tyre strategy.

I feel like I cheated the win at Madrid with the GT-R R35 TC because of the AWD. :/ Won the Ford GT Spec II by a few seconds by running consistent 1:19's throughout the race.

It was a good race and I enjoyed it, I just don't like the fact that I had to use an AWD car after I only managed to get 3rd place with the Audi R8 LMS which is MR...

I want the Nurburgring track to be more used on the Seasonal Events, that's all i want, can be the normal one, the 24 hours one, or the GP, but i want these tracks to appear more on the Seasonals.

edit: to save me opening another thread could ppl please PM me recommendations for the new 650pp-Madrid a-spec event? I've tried in B,W McLaren F1 GTR Race Car and the Ford GT LM normal and the SpecII version but whats the easiest car to win this in? Thanks :)

I used the Zonda LM Race Car and it was easy, probably too easy, but it got the job done:dopey:

I did it easily many time yesterday, wining easy 6 millions...

Agree with the above, i'm close to winning the tokyo race with a mazda roadster, thats not boring, esp using the in car view.

Correction won it, take the last 2 cars at the bend before the main st then prey they don't draft you to the line, close.....

If your doing 1:58's you laughing.
