"Vette vs Viper"

Stage 8: One on One Finale

This is the final stage, tuned to 650pp and run on all three grades of racing tires. For this stage, I tried to make them more competitive, therefore, the ZR1 Vette Race Car was given extra weight to match the stock weight of the Viper at 1150kg. It also was given an increase in downforce, front was still lower than the Viper but rear was matched. The Viper was given more power to match the Vette using the power limiter, the Vette became a 647pp tune while the Viper 653pp. The Viper did have ballast added, but it was removed and some suspension adjustments were made after track 6. Trans was not touched on either. Again, fastest car from previous track was up first at each track, second car only ran enough laps to beat car 1, or 5 laps which ever happened first.

If you look close enough, in stock form they were close but I think the Viper was better. Thanks in part to the gearing, only the ZR1 was better than most Vipers.
At Indy, it was likely a draw, but you can draw your own conclusion.
Head to Head, was really in favor of the Vettes as were the three Team Battles, but this could be my tuning of the cars.
But, One on One, I think the Vettes were better and I tried everything to give the Vipers a fair shot including extra laps at several tracks. Viper was better on the ovals but that was likely because of 6th gear pulling better, Vette was better everywhere else through the gears.

But I'm a Chevy guy, so results may be off a bit. But I really tried to get the Vipers faster and found the GTS '13 with or with out flat floor to be a really fun and fast car.

Overall it's a case of horses for courses for sure and I know you're a, erm, Bowtie guy but, I also know you have given the snakes as fair a shot at the title as possible.
My previous comment was really in reference to the results of stages 7/8. Vette first every time with the snake going home empty-handed.

Viper took a few, but only a few. One in stage 7. 5 in stage 8, or a total of 6 out of 32. Vettes could have had faster times at some tracks but on lap 2 they were already faster.

Are you sure that you do not have the flat floor installed? The HP number is very low for 500pp without it.

I am sure, have a flat floor version coming soon. It too has low hp but it also has low weight.

Strange. I get 331hp @ 500PP and 950kg -22 with front aero and a wing installed. This is a pretty major difference. I haven't run into problems with any of your other tunes.

Either way. It's ridiculous. Personal lap records be gone.

It is possible I may not have the hp correct, the tune was originally a 480pp tune. I will have to check later and see if I just did not update hp when I made the change.

Ah, I see. That makes sense. Actually, I did not reach 500pp with the proposed parts. I had to add some.

Detuned to 450pp and on comfort softs it beat my personal record at the Brands Hatch seasonal by a second on the first try. Then I adjusted parts for higher HP and beat that record by another second. My previous best was set on a Xande1959's 111R. I may have to give his another run and see if how it compares after some more time learning the track. These cars are insanely fast and this is a really, really good one. It literally has that fast forward feeling and look to it when driving. Nice work!

Do you think the Lotus is the fastest 400pp-500pp car in the game?

Well thank you for the kind words, I really liked that car. It Did everything I wanted and did it quick. Very responsive. They may be among the quickest in that range, the Elise Type 72 is super quick as well. The NSX, Shelby Series One, and FT 86Concept hang with them. I have tested my 450 and 500 tunes in time trial style. Link is found above the tunes, gives a good idea on how they rate for me.

Thanks for pointing that out! It's a really useful feature that I am not used to seeing on here. I've been auditioning some of the European cars on the Brands Hatch Seasonal. The little MG really surprised me in stock form. It feels validating to see how well you in it. Can't wait to try the tune!

Took yours out second and unfortunately at least for me it wasn't as good as cory's. Wasn't as agile in the S-Curves with significantly more understeer and reluctance present. If I wasn't perfect in the entry it was impossible to recover relative to the ghost because the car would just push wide. Rest of the lap was relatively equal due to the long straights. I was around the low/mid 3's.

Tune Comments - A very easy car to jump right in and put down consistent laps but I am not very fast in this car. I followed your advice of easy in & fast out...lift - point - shoot, but I was off just a little bit. This car felt very technical and needed a "higher pay grade" driving it...I started to understand what you wanted but I'm not a consistent enough driver to unlock all that this car had to offer...this is a Stradivarius and at this point, I am a good fiddle player. :) :cheers:

Never had this before. Identical times in 2 very different cars. Great through the esses but seemed to lose time from the hairpin on. A little twitchy on exit of the slower corners, but was very consistent and comfortable to drive.

A very precise tune, it has almost no understeer at all with a little bit of oversteer on lower corners, the brakes were my bigger concern, i couldn't find a comfortable braking zone and i think that shows on the time. This car is really good and really fast, but not at my hands, i just couln't find its hidden speed.

Review:
Another solid tune and reminded me a lot of Shaun's. Very easy to handle and consistent. But like all of the comfy tunes with this car, trying to take it to the limit was a chore. It had good corner entry, but that planted rear end caused the edge of the track to pop up quickly on exit.

Hi Bowtie. How are you? Looks like you've been busy 👍 So many new tunes for me to build/test. I've not played GT6 for a few months & didn't realize how many tunes i'd missed. Will be playing over the weekend so will build some then & leave a small review :)
Welcome back, it has been awhile and I hope all is well.

Yeah, have kept tuning and adding, still have a bunch unlisted. Some may not get posted as they were kinda off when tested. Have been tuning at a few different tracks then testing at a final and sometimes they under perform at the final track. Vette vs Viper for example, they were not tuned at any of the tracks tested and the ACR and GTS '02 we're not up to the challenge of the Vettes. Latest batch are flat floor cars for the Car of The Month thread. Hope you enjoy, some are really good, some maybe so so, but all built the way I could get them and like them.
