My Tunes:
I tune with the DS3, left stick steering, L2/R2 brake/gas, M/T, Controller sensitivity @2. ABS1, sometimes will use TC1 until comfortable with the tune, then switch back to TC0 and make final tweaks. I prefer Sports (soft) tires and will rarely use racing tires on street cars. All tunes should be considered a “Work in Progress” and may be updated or changed. Any and all feed back, positive or negative is appreciated, so feel free to ask about or discuss any specific tune. We all have differing tuning and driving styles, so if you find a tune that does not work for you, do not be afraid to try another…..you just might find a diamond in the rough!

Don’ts:
I cannot drift so do not build drift tunes, or drag, or rally. I also do not specifically tune for “The Ring” and rarely go there, so I do not know how tunes will behave on that track. Sorry. At this time I am also not accepting requests until I am happier with this garage and the feedback received.

FITT Tunes:
I have been, and plan on continuing, competing in FITT Tuning Challenges. These tunes will be linked to there original posts along with links to the rules and reviews for each challenge. Also, I will give the results of how it fared in lap time average (LTA) and driver choice score (DC). Review posts will have links to each individual tester so you will be able to see what they thought of the tune. Some of these will be updated after the shootout and I will post a “Version II” based on feedback.

Database Tunes:
Any tune that is also/or posted in the Tuning Database, will also have “review” after it so you can see any remarks from others who have tried the tune.

Seasonal Tunes:
Most of the time I just throw a quick tune at a car, get the gold/cash/reward and get out. Sometimes, if I like the car track combo, I may spend more time on the tune. These tunes are ones where I have (with my driving skill) managed to finish in the top 1500 in the rankings (usually the top 1000) or I will not likely share the tune. This way, you will know it was good for the gold and then some.

Good to see you setting up your own garage. If your tunes in the FITT challenges are anything to go by, you are bound to create some fast tunes which will get good ratings. Also, thanks for the addition of my Garage in the seasonal tune section. Wasn't what I expected to see so I'm extremely appreciative. I look forward to seeing your garage grow.

"Learning From A Pro"

I absolutely love this car, it does what I want when I want it to. It is my go to car when I get
frustrated with other tunes. A few laps in her and I'm good, back in the groove; there's only one problem, it's not my tune. My goal for GT6 was to get better at tuning, and driving hopefully, and maybe even get around to sharing some tunes. This is the car that gave me the thought that maybe, just maybe I could tune.
It all started with the Jag Seasonal early on, I managed to post a decent time, 2 spots behind
@Johnnypenso. This had me thinking, hey he's good, I must be doing ok. Then @Motor City Hami posted his tune and I tried it. was 2 tenths faster with mine but toyed around, mixed and matched both and got better. In the end I finished somewhere around 1016 I believe, personal best actually in any Seasonal.
Shortly there after, I was satisfied with my progess through GT6 and wanted to get serious about
tuning some of my Fav's. The C7 was the reason I could not wait for GT6, so it and the ZR1 were at the top of my list. Three versions and three pp levels of C7 later, I wondered how good they were. Then MCH posted his C7 Stingray and I had a look. The numbers were not that far off from mine, although some glaring improvements on his. LSD was close with only Decel being really different, I was at 10, he was 16. I was 5 clicks lower on the rear ride height and springs were just a touch softer but not much. Now I had read Hami's tuning guide in GT5 and 6, tried his Jag and was close but he obviously was a better driver, how about my Vette? You can imagine his was about 0.500 faster at Silverstone International than mine, changing the LSD Decel made up most of it. But I felt good about my tune, like I was growing and getting better.
This is where I began to "Reverse Tune" if you will. I had my tune which was decent, Hami's which
was better, but why was his better. I was now able to compare a good tune with a really good tune and dissect what made his better. Why did he choose 3 front damper compress when I was at 5? Why did he have his rear 5mm higher than mine and what effect did they and others have on the car? Reading Hami's Tuning Guide was a great help, comparing his tune to my own and feeling the changes and differences put the icing on the cake so to speak. Now I cannot offer any really good tuning advice other than to practice practice practice, and to not be afraid to try each setting to learn it's effect on each car as they all are unique. However, building a tune to where you think it's good, then trying a tune a Pro has built (and yes we have a few here on GTP), breaking it down and dissecting it may also help with the finer points. I believe it helped me!
Shortly there after, Hami began the Miata Tuning Challenge and I signed up, shared my first two
tunes and waited for the reviews with anxiety. Could my tunes actually be not that bad? Check the results and see for yourself here. Since, I have gone on to compete in other challenges and even host.
My tuning method has changed and I think I'm getting better, slowly. Still not quite as fast as the Professor, but getting closer. So if I heap alot of praise at @Motor City Hami, it's because the student should always remember where they came from, and who got them where they are today.

If you have the time, I highly suggest trying Hami's C7 (here), I have some of my own settings and some of his on mine so I will not post the tune. You would probably like his better anyway.

Comments:Great speed. Braking was stable but heavy front brake made adjusting the corner entry from high speeds difficult. When I entered the tighter turning section just right it flowed naturally through corners with back end rotating and setting up well for next corner. Oversteer exiting corners was mostly manageable. A little more stability and control of rotation exiting turns and my lap times would have been more consistent and closer to fastest lap.

Impressions of the tune; Good solid tune. Good turn in, good grip at exit, little light in the mid corner grip department but otherwise very balanced tune. It’s not quite an attack tune but it’s not a easy does it tune it’s some place in between for me. Had to be carful on braking as it would go to the wall if I missed a brake point.
Pro; Stable and balanced.
Con; Light on the mid corner grip.

Car responds to aggressive driving and subtle driving. Can direct the car with adjustments in brake input and throttle input. No gremlins in the tune at all. It doesn't feel like the tune is compromising lap time anywhere. It feels like it's just you and the track. Excellent tune!

Impressions of the tune; This tune felt a little off, but it was quick once I got used to it. I was more going for a cruise than I was racing it around. If I was nice to it, it was nice to me and very quick, if I pushed it, well lets say I spent a good bit of time in the dirt on those laps. The problems when it was pushed where oversteering when on the gas and over stable on the brakes, I couldn’t trail brake the car, but it did take to low to mid throttle in the corners, full gas at anytime other than being straight I was off and spinning.

The Stock version of this car with the parts chosen and the weight distribution were pretty good. The Tune, however, got a little snug on corner entry. Backing up braking points and patience with the throttle on exit helped, but it did take a perfect lap in order to beat the Stock time.

Quick time but I had to work at it! In an ideal world I'd like the back end just a bit tighter. Felt like I was getting some slip angle through the second sector that was scrubbing some speed; happened occasionally through the last corner as well. I'd also like a bit more turn in for the first corner. Good drive if you put in the effort to push it. 👍

This is a fast car; almost perfect. It can get loose on exit with a little outside wheel spin. I only have one suggestion to try and that is lower LSD accel.

Lazy front end-heavy rear-pin the front end down with the brakes and the rear steps out-a good laptime lurking within this car-excellent traction and mid corner balance.

Laptime;1:36.064 Drivers Choice; 8

Impressions of the tune; Fast and stable. It was well balanced with no noticable under or oversteer issues, I didn’t slide much and when I did recovery was very easy. There was some weight transfer issues with the lower speed corners that I needed to throw the car around, but that was easily managed with the throttle. The limiting factor on this was the transmission was a bit short so had to run higher gear than i wanted for some of the corners and I was boucning the RPM’s on the front straight.

Stable car. Has a chance to be a handful under hard braking as soon as you turn the wheel (or press the dpad), but other than that this car was pretty good. When going into "attack mode" you could actually feel and hear the car saying..."Ok now, that's enough!" And that would be the end of it. Nice Job!👍

A very stable and well-handling tune over the whole track, but top speed was lower than ACSR's tune. Braking was much better, but it lacked exit speed out of the corners and occasionally the rear would slip as well here. A very good tune, but it just lacked that something that makes a car really quick.

Great stopping distance, slight problem with BLOR, but that's workable, even useful on the tightest corners.
Corner entry is stable but under braking understeer will push the car out.
Mid corner is fairly balanced, but unstable enough that half my laps are useless (but that's as much about pushing the limits as the cars instability).
Corner exit is smooth, with enough power left over to make throttle control necessary on slow and mid speed corners.
It felt fairly balanced but also felt like it didn't have as much grip as other cars. The brakes were extremely sensitive and I either buried my foot, or tried to only use 1%. At high speed there's not much room between the two.

Reviews for Impreza Sedan WRX STi V - FITT STi vs Evo (wet/dry challenge)

With it being snug on entry through the center, I struggled getting the car down to the apex a lot of the time, and when I pushed too hard, I was roasting the outside front tire throughout the turns, especially on acceleration. Still a solid tune though.

The tight on exit was more noticeable, but once the tires got heated up, I loved this car. You can’t be too far off with the tight condition because I was hitting the fastest times by lap 3 on every set.

I love this car , you can print on the road all what you want the car to do, very easily In ,mid and out corner are perfect. Very easy to go fast.

On GVS the car is a bit unstable under strong braking for the first turn. The RH + low springs are making free the weight transfer and you need to be very sharp on your driving input to not loose the line and the speed.

Congrats.

Loved it! A great balance of stability and nimbleness. I found I was just getting faster and faster with it and never found fault or was left asking for more.

Felt great in the wet as well, great rotation and a pleasing mix of slip and grip.

Hey Bowtie. Your shops looking good! Nice to see all your FITT tunes making the way into the showroom (so to speak) :) Have you got any more american muscle making its way into your shop any time soon? Be interested to see what the suspension settings are going to be now PD have made changes to the camber. I imagine, if it does what it says on the tin, the american muscle cars should have more grip available to them on corner exit than they use too.

I had a few ready to go, luckily I did not post them. Still playing with the camber, seeing gains at entry and mid-corner more than exit. Still some more at exit but searching for the sweet spot, exit is the biggest issue with the way the weight transfers and then causes wheel spin, easier to catch now but needs more testing. Will be hopefully posting more as obviously I like my bowties:sly:

Your lucky that your starting your garage now. I haven't tested many of my older tunes with this new update, nor do I plan on altering tunes unless one of my better tunes becomes a pile of ship because of it. I think the bulk of my tunes are still good, at least no one has told me a tune has gone to pot. Time will tell though. I am playing with camber settings now on some new tunes to get my head round this, Once i have got a firm grasp on it, I may look over a few of my okay tunes and see if I can't improve upon then a little. I know that one or two MRs and American muscle cars could use a revamp in the future.

Glad I have been busy, and slow to post them, now I can recheck them first. I took my ZR1 to Suzuka 600p seasonal, added .4 (F), .2(R) and it actually made entry better, loosened the rear a tick maybe and lap times were slightly slower but felt better and more consistant. Working on the 88 IROC and camber at 1.0 / 0.5 made the feel much much better, still not happy with the exit but heading in the right direction. Keep you posted so to speak.

My test machine is a Mercedes Evolution II '91. Camber is helping with turn in and mid corner (like you) but I can't get the car to stick to the line when its off the throttle. Its only tuned to 450PP so I can feel exactly what the car is doing at any time. its really helping me understand what camber is actually doing. It is an interesting change by PD, thats for sure.

Reviews for Impreza WRX STi '07 - FITT STi vs Evo Tuning Challenge

Silverstone Stowe

DC : 9.5
Autumn Ring
Laptime : 1:19.480 SM/SM

"Stuck like glue" i`ve written in my notes about this tune at STOWE! The most front end grip
of any tune in this class. However, with the back end also sticking like glue it ment that it was
really easy to post fast lap after fast lap! 1:01s all day with this tune. To get any quicker it
was quite hard to get the back end free to slide it through the twistys. I expect a smoother
driver than me could pull a 59sec out the bag with this. My fastest lap at Autumn Ring felt
unremarkable after the miracle of Stowe. I just pointed it where i wanted it to go and it stuck.
Awesome!(still feel like your sliding down the ladder?)

Impressions of the tune; Solid turn, great rotation. Very stable under braking on the dry. Very squirrely on the wet if you used more than 50% brake power. I loved the stability and consistency in this car, just feather the throttle for the mid speed corners and you would zip right through them even in the wet. The transmission was very well built, it just felt sluggish, or rather like i wasn’t accelerating as fast as it was actually doing it. I’d take this car to a race any day of the week as long as the rain held off :D

Bonus feedback from shaunm80 (here)
@Bowtie-muscle - I would agree with the statement "Stuck like glue". I enjoyed the consistency your car has.

I`m gonna upload some footage of stowe laps this weekend. Your car will be one of them.👍 I`ll put them on the challenge thread and if you want I`ll put your tunes hot lap here? Hows the ladder climbing going?;)

edit : Here`s a video of the above tune in action at Silverstone Stowe with 100% surface water and grip set to real in the FITT STi vs EVO Challenge.

If you would like to post footage here, I would appreciate it:D

PD threw me a curve with the camber/physics change but I do not think I'm sliding anymore ;)
