I'm a little out of my depth here, but if you have a hydraulic brake system which is pressure based, do you still require a load cell ?

No - you need a pressure transducer which measures the pressure inside of the hydraulic system.

thanks, i was wondering about this as well
but are they very different? or do they work on pretty much the same principle?
how different do they feel under your feet? im about to buy a set of new pedals and am struggling between the perfect pedal and clubsport v2
