The Welsh government will not underwrite the debt to Aviva required to fund the project - meaning that at this stage, CoW is basically dead. A shame, but probably sensible given how the project appears to have been conducted so far.

The worst bit is nearly £10,000,000 of taxpayers money has been wasted in this project not to mention the legal wrangling that's taken place. Such a shame, the Welsh valleys are crying out for a major project like this to provide jobs.

I'm gutted personally as I'm relatively local, I'd have been up there for every racemeet going

Apparently the Welsh government wants to build a "£100m automotive business park" instead. They also told investors not two weeks ago that there were "no showstoppers" about the project going ahead.

Also, why did it take them seven years to figure out where the money would be coming from?
