When I first heard of this class at one of Bathurst events and saw the 928 in the field, I became a fan.
You would have loved the side by side with the 928 down the main straight with clear audio of the German bent eight.
Group S is essentially there for what doesn't fit in Group N because it is considered too Sports Car.
Two seats instead of four.
Think Camaro in Group N, Corvette in Group S.
Further, the Class is also made up of three sub-classes centred on the age of the vehicles.
Sa is for Production Sports Cars without a competition history, manufactured by the end of 1960.
Sb for those generally manufactured 1961-1969.
Sc for 1970-1977.
The VHRR have opened entries for a combined Group Na (pre 1958) and Sa race at the Winton Festival of Speed in late July.
Entries in Na have fallen off the radar to non existence, and Sa to minimal so the organisers are trialling the combining of both to try and boost grid numbers by convincing owners to dust them off and bring them back out for a run.
Entry fees for these races are free.
I'm very interested to see how they play together.
