Good thing paul is a reserve or else he would be a serious contender :)

Hey rolo,

Something has come up so I will probably only make the first race tonight. Sorry to do this it was just totally unforeseen.

Am I ok to do this or should I sit out this week?

Thanks.

I had a few lap where I got used to the track and gradually upped the pace. I went out after setting a lowly 2:17.2 and on my 3 timed laps I went 2:16.9 2:16.6 and 2:16.2. Could maybe of gotten 15s with it with a little more time.

The Mazda seemed fairly on the limit on the 2:16.0.

For me Alfa is definitely fastest.

Id love to compare cars at some point to see just what wizardly things you have done to give that alfa so much pace...💡
mind you im using a pad so I can only assume at that pace your using a wheel...which should be interesting to see where I end up at the end of the night on the table...pad vs wheel...hopefully its a close race again

Yeah you can do Race 1 and go, that's fine.

@gedi, are you free to race the other 2 races? I can give you a nudge :dopey:

Lounge open in about 5 minutes for any early birds, but I may DC at any moment in the next hour or so. Shouldn't be for too long, hopefully.

This season lap and pit window info will be put in the title of the lounge so everyone knows.

Please read it :sly:

I suspected that Alfa was faster than it's performances last season showed. Cannot do better than mid 17s in the Crossfire and even that is a huge struggle. Believe me i'm trying but it's just not capable of 16s. Really doesn't bode well for the rest of the season if it's getting smashed at one of the few handling circuits where the FRs should be on top. I want my BMW back :(

How many races before any weight reviews?

I can make changes after tonight if necessary. Let's see what happens.

Paul, how on earth have you managed those lap times? Was the grip reduction correct?

I've just had a run and can only do a 17.2 :(

Yeah FF cars are my thing, put me in one and I can keep up with with nearly anyone :).

Sorry mate but this is pointless. It's not possible to keep up with a car that has the same BHP but is 200kgs lighter in a race.

Yes it is able to provide a similar lap time over a single 'flying' lap but once into a race the 200kg FF just runs away and seems to have a 10mph higher top end just on Suzuka even with slip stream! And then to top it off as the FR is quicker through the bends the car in front just gets in the way on the apex and then is off again when you put the power on meaning you are not close enough into the next bend to try a pass.

I like what you have as a championship and have a lot of respect for anyone who does well in it using a FR as they either are one hell of a driver or have one hell of a setup. I think the thing is that being that its a FR and it handles so much better in the bends then what you are doing with the weight is good to try and slow it down. But by doing that you are slowing it down too much on the straight, Maybe a slight power increase (to match the PP's) will solve this issue.

The BMW has 200 more because its tyre wear is such that the right driver over a race could win easily if it were lower. The spec is fine. Some can get the BMW to work, some can't.

I know that it has the worst top speed of all the cars, but there's not much I can do about that. I can't add power because it would be impossible to check on race night (most power + soon to be most weight). Put the power back down to 305 and it will kick out the BMWs, and to leave it would allow too much risk of cheating.

Chrysler is heading down to 1380 from now, the Mazda is up to 1200, and it's possible the Alfa and Ford will increase by 20/30kg.

And to add the 330i has won a championship here and many many races.

As I'm an Alfa driver I'm going to be biased.....that said I'll try to be honest as I can in my opinions as I would also like some close racing. :)

The Alfa is fast, there's no denying it, but so is the Ford and as it happens the Mazda is also rather nippy too. The FR's are too slow, the only possible exception is the BMW (sorry BMW drivers but I've seen that car in action, yes it's slow on the straights but give it a twisty track and it flies). I agree that the Crossfire needs a weight reduction which will bring it closer to the FF's, also the G35 weight needs looking at (although it didn't run). This should close up the field without having to add weight to the FF cars.

We have had 1 race (yes we had some test races) but to be fair, the FR's haven't been on the track enough.

Adding weight to the Alfa won't slow it, and IMO opinion adding a rear wing destroys it. I'm sorry but anyone trying to drive an FF with rear aero is silly, for me it simply doesn't work at all. Forcing the Alfa to use a rear wing is just plain stupid (sorry).

Tonight I thought that Red was slow in the Crossfire, the Mazda was silly fast (could just be Paul's driving), the BMW's quit and I know that there true potential wasn't shown tonight. Didn't see much of the Dodge so I can't really comment. Skeng, Andy and Rolo's Ford gave me some real trouble tonight, they were on par with the Alfa, they are without a doubt a good match to the Alfa (thank you Skeng and Rolo for the battle's). If the Alfa's get a rear wing added, I would hope that all other FF's do too as it wouldn't be particularly fair.

Sorry if my thoughts upset anyone, just saying what I see.

Pretty sure even with a wing on the Alfa I could do 15s aswell, just saying. In my run that I posted a pic of was fairly tame and I had .2 atleast in S1 on the Alfas 16.2.

The 15.7 I did in the Mazda was a perfect lap as I only did another one in R1, the rest a smooth consistant pace of low 16s.

BMWs are just good handling cars, full stop.. I don't think I've ever beaten a BMW around a round-a-bout!

Also the thing is with you rear aero comment, is I set my cars up to be super loose so in the slow stuff I am faster. Sometimes this is too loose for fast corners like 130R so I need that bit of rear DF to help stabilize the car in high speed bends. It's a balance though. (Rear aero doesn't affect bends much bellow 70mph)

I agree the Bmw is very quick in the bends but in my opinion not enough to counter the difference in top end of the lighter cars and the power tracks will be even worse, this championship will be won by either the ford or the alfa no one else has a chance

All i can add to try to prove my point about it is anyone who saved the replay of race 1 watch my first 4 laps, if you think i'm just slow then OK but i was always keeping pace in the bends but every press of the power the FF took off and there was nothing i could do to stop it.

How many bends were there at Suzuka that were less than 70mph?

I set my car up loose too but I found that the rear wing killed my turn in and mid-corner grip. I would lose much more than a couple of tenth's per lap with a wing.

I don't think that I really managed any 16's during the races. I had a quick look at the replays and from what I saw my lap times were low 17's at best and mostly mid to high 17's. Some of the Ford's were lapping faster than the Alfa. I think that I was fairly lucky to finish as well as I did, but to be honest I had done lots of practice around that track and the car was really well tuned for it. :D

Let's see what happens. Hopefully after a few more races things will seem okay. Fingers crossed.
