Bumper View

Attach a camera to your car so that it is secure. Take it for a drive. Play back the video. It will look similar.

Maybe so - but if you play the game without ABS and use the bumper cam as I do and you break hard you will see the front tyre track being made and I dont think that is really possible IRL - unless your driving with invisible tyres and an invisible car

So that and the fact that that camera is sort of the same height of the cockpit one makes me believe that it is in fact a camera placed in the drivers seat but with an invisible car.

Bumper cam is actually a hood cam, without the hood.

This (almost):

I have noticed that when I drive the Subaru Cusco Dunlop GT300 car, with the bumper cam, you can clearly see the exhaust popping to the left and to the right of the screen.

So, using the exhausts on that car as a reference, I have concluded that the bumper cam is placed chassis high, roughly where the drivers back would be in the car. 👍

go play Forza then if you like their bumper cam better

I definitly would but the xbox wheel support is not all that good
I really dont like bumper cams I like hood cams better
But if you buy my set up I will then gladly buy a fanatec and a xbox to go with it - Ill even throw in GT5 for free

why is it so poor and so and stiff... they should of took a leaf out of FM3 for that one.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

What I don't get is why certain cars lurch so much upon braking, particularly the X2010. That thing is totally flat when you look at it from the outside but from the bumper cam it feels like a muscle car or something.

lol @ noob view. I'ma cockpit driver or bumper cam if there's no cockpit but I went on chase view today and I couldn't control my car. I felt like a right noob! haha

Yeah I have never been a fan of the "bumper view" I guess if I strapped myself to the front bumper this would be useful. Plus I think this game would be very dull if everytime I raced I got a really closeup view of the pavement.

I personally switch it up depending on the car. I usually use the roof camera, the cockpit or just the full view of the car. I just like some kind of reference point to my car. But that is just me.

The variation across the cars regarding the positioning of the "roof" camera is odd. sometimes it is clearly slap bang on the roof, others it's not. The Sauber C9 took a while to get used to since it was nowhere near the roof, it was barely any different to the bumper camera, you can just see a tiny part of your car and it's very close to the floor.

The Sauber C9 has a view I wish that all the cars in GT5 had. It's the one where there are no gauges in the middle of the screen but they are off to the sides bottom left & bottom right of the screen.

The only cars I am able to play cockpit view are FGT's, F2007, F10 & the X2010's. I try out all the premium cars when I first purchase them but usally end up back on the bumper as I've always played the game since the GT franchise started. Those were glorious days when it all started.

The bumper view sometimes makes absolutely no sense, which is why I never use it.
Why does one get proper tachometer, which actually works unlike some car's cockpit view, yet not available in other views.
Also free rear view mirror when some cars don't have it or can't see out the back....And who drives with their eyes stuck to the pavement.

Virtual G-Force simulation perhaps? Only thing that makes sense.. dunno what else. :)
