After reading along the questions being asked, I saw this:

What camera's are compatible with the game?

You can use pretty much any USB camera on PlayStation 3. On PC you need to make sure that you have the latest drivers for your webcam. On 360 you will need to use the Xbox Live Vision camera.

Well, if that's the case, I don't understand why my camera isn't working in-game then. :indiff:

No worries andrewyhy!

Now that is confusing... :dunce:

I am sure that Cirterion will personally email you back if they get chance, from what I've seen on the podcast they all go direct to one guy, who then filters them out to the rest of the team to reply to individually.

That's very odd indeed andrewhy, I'm also planning to get the PS Eye but it'll be a while since I've recently just shelled out $400 for a new G25 and I'm low on money atm (not to mention the upcoming DLCs :ouch:). Or I could ask my friends whether I can borrow their usb webcam for a day.

About your problem, have you tried this solution? Also from the Criterion FAQ website.

How do I switch off Mugshots when playing online?

To turn off Mugshots, press START to go into Under the Hood -> Options and you can then set the USB CAMERA FEED to OFF, or FRIENDS ONLY - so you can only trade mugshots with people you know.

Just reverse the procedure and let me know if it works 👍.

EDIT: Apparently the bikes also have a 'boost' (sort of). When you're going forwards tilt the left analog stick forwards. You'll see the rider tuck their hands and feet closer to the bike, making it more streamlined and faster! You'll be able to reach higher speeds by doing this. Quite a nice little hidden feature :).

LeGeNd-1, thats not a bad idea about the mugshots!

The bike feature you mention is cool, I found it accidently whist riding around. :D

Have you tried doing wheelie donughts?

Is it ok if I add you on PS3 so we can play Burnout?

Thanks for the tip mate. I'll try your suggestion next time when I go online with you. ;)
And yep, I knew this feature (of the bikes) by accident when I tried to stop the bike asap by braking hard as well as pushing the left analog stick forward (to perform a stoppie), just like the way in GTA IV. :p

BTW, Glad to see you coming back to this Burnout thread. :D

I hope so. :)

Paradise has Burned

Yes, I finished the final challenge last night. I now have 102% complete. 490/490 challenges done. I'm so glad I finished this last night. This gives me a bit of a break before "Cops & Robbers" comes to town.

As a "cheat" of sort, there is a very easy way to accomplish the #10 - 8 Player timed challenge. As you're headed from the South East Expressway Bridge, towards the bottom of RockRidge, you can veer right and take the jumps under the Construction Crane. Brake quickly, and pull a 180, before you've dropped to the lower level on this set of jumps. You'll still be in the building, that is under construction. If someone is parked at the base of the ramp coming into the building, you can hit a small jump coming back out of the building. Its easy enough to land a Vertical Takedown on the player at the base of the jump. This counts as a "Rock Ridge Vertical Takedown". We had 8 liked minded players last night and finished this challenge in 3 minutes.

All Challenges are completed! Nothing special showed up, or was awarded for it.

The only thing I have left is the new DLC, and the Party Pack. Its had to justify shelling out the cash just to get 7 trophies. I'll never use the Party Pack other than to get the trophies.

I didn't know about the bikes feature. I'll have to give that a try.

Here's to "Cops & Robbers" and "The Island"

Sadly, I am far from reaching that point in my game. :nervous:

👍

Sadly, I am far from reaching that point in my game. :nervous:
Hey, it took me nearly a year to get to this point. I bought the game in May of last year, and have worked on the same game save since then. I took a 3 week detour to catch up on the trophies that were released after I already had 80% of the game completed.

I'm stating the obvious, but the 6-7-8 player timed challenges are the hardest, only due to getting like-minded players together. I was running into this on the last stint as well. It seems that you get almost there, and there is one idiot that likes to takedown people that are sitting waiting for everyone to arrive at a location.

Just aggravating.

@ Super_Spig: I've sent you a friend request on PSN, check it out. And no, I haven't done a wheelie doughnut yet. Do you do it by holding the left stick down and turn around on the spot? I don't play with the bikes that much so forgive my noobiness :D.

@ andrewyhy: It's a pleasure to play online with you mate :). Fortunately for us there were a lot of like minded players for these past few days, I have around 120+ challenges done already.

@ Der Alta: Congratulations 👍. Guess you can take a break now. It's kinda disappointing that they didn't give us anything extra for completing all challenges. Oh well, at least you still have a lot of fun completing them (and a fair share of frustration as well). If you have time and absolutely nothing to do, do go online in BOP to help me with the challenges ok? And thanks for the challenge tip 👍.

About takedowns, I can actually tolerate it if we're waiting for other players to arrive during timed challenges. At least it gives you something to do in the meantime. As long as the player completes the challenge properly I've no problem with it. What I can't stand is when a player wants to take you down every second and refuse to do any challenges. In that case I'll just leave the room or kick him/her out.

About the Cops N Robbers, I'm interested in how they implement the game mode as all junctions in Paradise City are filled with events already. Maybe we launch it using button combinations (like Showtime)? I wouldn't want it to be a freeburn mode though, I hate cops when I'm freeroaming.

@ Digital-Nitrate: Don't worry mate, slowly but surely we'll get there. What's your PSN ID? I'll add you so we can play together.

Also, I've tried reporting the odometer bug from a few pages back to bugzilla, and here's my reply (less than 3 hours after I posted it!):

--- Comment #1 from garethh@Criterion <gharding-bugs@criteriongames.com> 2009-04-23 11:02:02 ---Hello,

Thanks for reporting this issue.

This is a known issue however at present we have no intention of fixing in any upcoming Burnout Paradise update.

Regards

Gareth

:grumpy: I bet it wouldn't even take them half an hour to fix it but they don't see it as something important so they just don't bother. Well, at least I tried to get it fixed.

@ LeGeNd-1 Thanks for the request, I'll accept it next time I'm online. Exam revision :grumpy:

I've also noticed that about the odometer. Sometimes when I am offline the odometer does not go up, but when I switch to online it does. It then works again offline :dunce:

I suppose that the odometer is really at the bottom of their priority list at the moment, with the testing the Island their main task.

I just hope it comes soon, from the old videos I've been watching the early Island looked AMAZING! :dopey:

I will certainly jump online and help out with any of the challenges.

Thanks, and I'm looking forward to Cops and Robbers. I'm not sure how they'd implement it, other than the same way they would an online Stunt Run or Marked man challenge. It'd be counter productive if it was online challenge only, though.

Thanks for the vid Super_Spig, it really does look set to be a cracker isn't it? It looks unbelievably hectic at times, but all new game vids does when they first came out. Also, I have a feeling everyone will be using either the Carson GT or Hunter Citizen . And good luck for your exam as well 👍.

On a good note, I had a great challenge session with 4-5 players last night who were all like-minded. It's amazing how many challenges you can get done if everyone just gets on with the job. In around 2 hours I've done around 60 or so challenges. Standing at 183/490 for me :).

For trophies, I've got all of them except for two:
-Everyone takes a photo for a party.
-Send Mugshot/Smugshot.
For these, it looks like I have to buy a usb cam. I've asked my friends whether they have one but most of them either have an integrated webcam (laptop users) or don't use them. I'll look around for a cheap one since I'm most likely not going to use it much anyway.

Oh, one more thing. To those who haven't got the 'Complete 10 Timed Challenges' trophy, this trophy is glitched. You musn't do any bike challenges before getting this trophy. If you do this the trophy will not get awarded even if you complete 10 timed challenges. I learned it the hard way last night and had to backup my save and restart. Luckily, with the help of andrewyhy I hammered thru the 2p challenges (again) and got it within an hour or so. Thanks mate 👍.

@ LeGeNd-1

That's strange about the 10 Timed Trophy being glitched.

I'm sure that I completed quite a few bike challenges (both freeburn and timed) before I got that trophy.

The only thing that I can assume is that there was an update (Party etc) before I got the 10 Timed Trophy :dunce:

HI guys, just wondering if the burnout paradise ultimate work on PS3, i was think of downloading it from playstation store & do you still get trophys.

GTP_ENERGIYA, the only difference between normal Burnout Paradise and the Ultimate Box is that the ultimate box comes with all the updates to the game and with one pack of dlc free.

Both Burnout Paradise and the ultimate box contain trophies, it was patched into the game :D

However, if you have already played the disc version of the game, the store version cannot read your save file.

Hope that helps :D

Super_Spig

Thanks Super_spig, I have not played the disc version so i 'll download ultimate version tonight from playstation store.

No problem GTP_ENERGIYA! If you want to add me to play online together that's no problem! My PS3 ID is Super_Spig :D

Super_Spig doing some detective work here :P 💡

According to the Criterion website, tommorow sees patch v1.8 to Burnout to add availability for Cops and Robbers to the game. It also comes with several fixes:

GT Nighthawk PlayStation 3 Trophy
Something that only became apparent once the Legendary Cars went live is that if you already had the 2x Boost Chain Trophy it was impossible to get the GT Nighthawk one. We're pleased to say this is now fixed and everyone will be able to earn this Trophy once the update goes live tomorrow.

Game freezing on the start line of an online ranked race
We had a number of reports about this though we have had difficulty reproducing it in-house. However, we did find one possible issue which we have now fixed and we very much hope this fixes the issue some players have been reporting. We're monitoring the situation and will make improvements where we can.

Not being able to select purchased vehicles in the Junkyard
In the majority of cases we found the cause of this was that people had purchased the vehicles but not downloaded AND installed them.Correctly downloading and installing the vehicles fixed the issue. However there was a rare bug seen with a handful of customers who achieved their Elite license during a specific period of time last year which meant that some of the vehicles had indeed disappeared. We have now fixed this issue and that fix appears in the new update.

Smashes and billboards resetting after playing the Party Mode
This was a problem that occasionally happened when you started a Party then re-entered Paradise City.
They weren't actually reset. When you restarted the game everything was back to normal. However, it was annoying and we are pleased to say it has now been fixed.

Right, bear with me with this :sly:
Patch v1.7 contained all DLC released to date (not including Cops and Robber and the Island). Depending on the size of v1.8, in theory this patch should contain the Island, as this is the last DLC remaining. I can't see Criterion releasing one patch for Cops and Robbers, and then another for the Island, as this may confuse the average player.

One way to check this should be the size of the patch, as I imagine the Island should be pretty big, and that "just" new liveries and a new online mode for Cops and Robbers should be pretty small.

If the patch is big, it is pretty safe to assume that the Island is coming soon, as DLC from v1.7 was released nearly one or twice a week :D

I hope everyone understands this, and that my logic is not flawed in anyway :indiff:

Super_Spig

P.S Please feel free to criticise me in anyway :P

Cops and Robbers is out! I'm hoping to get some action in tonight, if the Missud isn't already in COD4. If not, I'll be online tomorrow. Feel free if you see me online, to dorp and invite, or join up.

Yep, I've updated the game to ver. 1.80 and purchased the C&R DLC. Those 8 additional trophies are quite easy to get IMO. I've got all 8 of them within an hour of gameplay with my friends. :D

I agree with you mate. 👍
Everytime Criterion Games releases new DLCs, the game will be patched with an update within a hundred MB. But it's much larger this time, so I guess the same as you do, that they've already put 'teh Island' into the game..! Therefore what we're gonna do is just to wait for the team to release the DLC (which is always a size of 100KB to unlock the content downloaded from the update patch) to us. :D

@andrewyhy I thought for a minute I was going mad with my theory!

What do people think of Cops and Robbers and all the DLC in general, because I was thinking that after my exams I might go on a DLC buying spree, because at the moment I haven't bought any!

Well, for those DLCs, I've downloaded most of them except for the party pack. Hmm, the toy cars look cute and fun to drive around, and they're even a better choice for doing stunt runs, esp. the Toy P12. 👍

For the Legendary cars, I like the P12 Special most (as it can hover :p), with the GT Nighthawk coming second. :)

The Cops and Robbers DLC is really fun to play, but if you ask me whether it's worth it, the price tag should be set a little bit lower IMO, as the cars are basically the same as the Paradise Cars, just with different liveries on them.

Actually, Der Alta and Legend have shared their experience in the DLCs in a few pages earlier of this thread ( Link ), you may want to take a look of their comments as well. ;)

Thanks andrewyhy for the links, I perphaps should have looked first! :dunce:

I'll probably get the Cops and Robbers and Toy Cars first, and the Island if it's out :D

To me the Legendary Cars seem a bit gimmicky, so I might leave them for a bit.

I probably won't get the party pack, as it seems a bit much for an offline multi player mode which I'm unlikely to play.

Anytime my friend. ;)
The Toy Takedown 4X4 is simply a tank when driving around the city.
If you've got taken down on purpose, it's a great choice to fight back. :D

Well, the update is 126MB. I'm not so sure if the island is that small (although I'm no expert on this type of stuff). I don't know what else they put in the patch though to make it that big if it only contains a game mode, 33 liveries, new trophies and a couple of fixes. I'm thinking maybe they already put some of the island in to make the final patch (which contains the rest of the island) smaller. Besides, there's no way that this is going to be the final patch for BOP. Last time I checked on bugzilla there's 400+ bugs yet to be fixed. I don't expect them to fix all of it, but definitely most of them. So IMO we'll see BOP upgraded to v1.9 or more.

Regarding the whole Island update thing, I remember watching a youtube video last night from the PC version of the game.

I don't know how it works, but the video shows the user jumping into a half-baked version of the Island, with the basic structure but no textures etc.

Edit: I found it!

It may be that parts of the Island are "in our version of the game", but there are still bits to be added. For example, it seems that when you look from Angus Warf (where the Island will join the main area) it seems that the Island is progressing, but isn't still

I now tend to age with LeGeNd-1, that there will probably be a final update for the Island, but not as big as first thought.
