After being here for a year, I just found it today. I've never had a real reason to use it, until suffering through a 2 1/2 hour protocol meeting at the office yesterday.
There you go, there's the answer right there! I've got calendars and diaries coming out of my ears! I just use the PDA, which synchonises with my work calendar, for most things. It's pretty much all I need.
And that, with its Bluetooth connection to my phone, is also useful in 2.5hr protocol meetings!
Besides announcement of my Birthday, why would I use the GTP calendar? I am at work when I am on GTP, and I have plenty of post-a-notes reminding of anything and everything possible.
I use my handheld for most of it, and my Outlook calendar at work. Multiple-synching issues between here and home prevent me from synching them, though.

First of all, you're lucky. Our protocol meetings are usually long enough so that they have an intermission in the middle for us to get water... although we haven't had one in awhile... maybe I just stopped going...
Anyway, I have no reason to use the calendar. If I made GTP my number one calendar, then whenever it was down, I would have a personal interest in it getting back up. I'd not enjoy that.
Well, I think that it's exellent for events happening in different parts of the US and the world. Like a car show, or a car meet, even concerts and festivals.
Though I'd like to see something that would display the day's events on the main forum page so you don't have to go to the whole calendar...
