Calibrate TV for optimal performance?

Interesting that you bring this up, I find the contrast ratios in GT6 to be more extreme than GT5 or any other game for that matter. I have a plasma tv calibrated so that it gives plenty of detail in dark films, but GT6 is the only thing that makes me think it looks unbalanced; films, free to air tv and other games are all 'normal'. I tried increasing the in game exposure but this just blows out the lights and makes scenery look washed out or glarey.

I could probably tune the tv settings to be perfect for this game, but then it would be out for everything else. I know much of this is a matter of perception, but it is definitely a little odd.

Have you checked if you Tv can save multiple adjustment settings? I own an old LG 32" and can save like 4 different setups which I use for gaming, cable or DVDs...

Agreed. Though it mostly looks great, I think the lighting in the sim vs replays is a bit different so I would suggest comparing before doing any major changes.

For the slightest bit of increase in luminosity I would suggest adjust you back like % before anything else.

Also bear in mind your tv looks different at different times of the day. For instance my tv looks better during the day than night and what's odd is it should be reversed... I don't use any auto adjust tv features.

You can calibrate it with a Star Wars (or other Lucas Arts) DVD, they have THX calibration menu.
Sony DVD/BR also have it on them by pressing 7669 (SONY) on the remote.

Thats if you haven't got a dedicated calibration disc obviously.

Try this site, look for your make & model and they give optimal settings http://www.hdtvtest.co.uk/news/category/reviews
Using other peoples settings won't be perfect but it gives you a good base.
