I actually died 6 times in about 20 seconds on Nuketown when someone was using Chopper Gunner because I kept respawning in the same place. I couldn't avoid it which was annoying.

The Rust map was rarely selected whenever I played on MW2, but I never encountered any problems with respawning on that map.

I never really had problems on rust either, but nuketown on the other hand is just a piece of crap map. I can't tell you how many times I have spawned right in front of someone and they just knife me:tdown: I really hate it when it comes up while playing headquarters, which I have been playing allot the last two days because you rank up so fast playing it. I went from lvl 18 to 42 in only two days:dopey:

The problem with Nuketown (and Rust, actually) is that all six spawn points (both gardens, next to the gardens, beside the garages) are outside, meaning that a Chopper Gunner/Gunship will net you an easy 20+ kills because people can't spawn into cover, which means they get killed the instant they spawn. If there were also spawn points inside the garages and the ground floor of the houses, Nuketown wouldn't be as horrible as it currently is, because at least then you wouldn't get raped by air support the instant you spawned...

Rust I only encountered in FFA which I rarely played so I didn't have many issues with it. IMO all spawn points should be under some form of cover, I think spawn killing is just ridiculous. I guess changing spawn points is their way of combating spawn killing but it has not been working too well.

It says Prestige 14 in-game, not Prestige 1 level 14 :p
Wishful thinking lol, in game it says unclassified at prestige level 14 so when I first saw it I assumed prestige 1 lvl 14 :( I need this camo omg.

EDIT
wow they vote for nuke in htdm too yackkk

The respawn points on this map are quite rediculous. It would be alot better if there was at least one spawn point inside one of the houses. Also, because Nuketown is such a small map, they should make friendly spawn points as far away from the enemy spawn points as possible. At least then you can survive for more than 10 seconds without getting stabbed by an enemy player get or ripped apart by an air based Killstreak.

@ Cody - the party system is non-existent, not just broken. I tried inviting a mate to a combat training game, no dice. He then tried inviting me to his zombies lobby, same story. BO would always say "this game session is no longer available".

In terms of gameplay, BO trumps MW2. In terms of functionality, IW's title is waaaaaaaaay ahead.

Cody and I kept trying to party up last night. The only times I could join with him was when he was in a game already. And after that I would lose them.

If anyone I know offers to buy the game, its gone. Unless a patch comes along and magically fixes everything online.

New patch coming out to keep people from voting for the same map just played more than twice in a row! The patch I got an hour ago patched the sound on the 360, I can now hear people again! Woo!

Many thanks to those who answered my question about DMZ's and such like.

This problem has now been rectified....

I bought Black ops last thursday at £39.90.
I sold Black ops this thursday at £30.00.

I was disappointed with it from day one, completed the campaign, was disappointed that there were no stealth missions, nor spec ops style two players, hated Zombies, couldn't get over the feeling that the graphics look worse to me (IMO), couldn't kill anyone in multiplayer with a sniper rifle without hitting them twice, and was not going to spend any more time running around with the Makarov as my secondary.
I tried to play with a few friends last night, but couldn't carry any of them through to the same matches as me, regardless of who was party leader.
MW2 just loox better and better today, and my KD is up already, now that I'm carrying a Barrett and a PP2K again.
I appreciate it takes a better gamer than me to succeed in this game, but I've always been a driver, not a shooter.
You guys have fun.

:irked:👍

We'll be fine without you. Want to buy my copy of MW2? I'm sure I'll never touch it again unless I am in need of toilet paper.

The more I play this game, the more I don't like it.

Hit detection is broken. Broken as can be. And I'll probably shelve this or sell it if they don't fix it soon. The handling of latency is laughable as well.

Black Ops is less finished than NFS Shift was.

Lag issues? What are you playing it on? Everyone I know on the PC have had no issue with lag its just connection problems between the game and steam. Hit detection is hit and miss, some server are better then others but its that way with every FPS. For the PC hit detection has actually been much better then other games I have played in the past.

I do agree with the game feeling unfinished. I was playing the WoW: Cataclysm beta 4 months ago and it felt better built then this game. And that game is still under construction.

Black Ops doesn't use Valve's servers - MP is run through Gameservers.com, so it can't be connection issues between the client(s) and Steam ;)

I should of clarified. While running Black Ops MP Steam Friends causes random connection problems. Not happening to everyone, but it is to me and a few others I've talked too.

Most people, oddly enough, aren't playing on Steam/PC on this forum. Odd, I know, given this is a forum dedicated to a console game series..

And I've heard a lot of issues about stability issues from numerous PC users.

That aside, this hit detection is far worse than anything I've seen from a PC game. And much worse than MW2's hit detection. Unless putting the sniper cross hairs right in the middle of a stationary target's head, firing 3 times with it centered, and having none of them register is just the norm these days.

All cod games have issues when they're first released. The patches have already started...

I am thinking about getting this game....but so many fighting games are coming out..Marvel Vs Capcom 3, Tekken Tag 2 and King of Fighters XIII

I can't compare this to MW2's hit detection because I hardly played it because I never bought it. But been playing CS since 2000 I know how random hit detection can get from server to server. With 100 tic servers there usually is little problems.

I actually find the hit detection to be good, at least for the PC. I can only think of one instance where it sucked where I fired three shotgun blast into a persons chest on Launch only to not kill him. The only real problems I have with the game is the spawns other then its a solid game. I love the recoil and its not like shooting airsoft guns like it was in MW2.

I don't need your copy thanx TA. I've had one since last year.

Be careful with your toilet paper; if that thing breax while your a wipin! :ouch:

Az, I had an instance on Villa where I was looking straight across from one sniping building to the big veranda ledge the other side of the fountain, a guy walks out, stops and targets some players down to his left. I held my breath, centred on his head, fired twice, got nothing. Released the ADS, waited, caught my breath (the noob was still there), aimed and fired again, got a hit marker and he ran off. But anyway, as I said, this is no longer an issue of mine, so I'll butt out.

If your crying go ahead and stop and wait and let them fix the small problems, the game has only been out for a week or so. New updates that should fix the party problems some of you are having and lag etc. They fixed the sound which was the only problem I was having on the breakbox 360.

Last night was the first time I was able to get an extended amount of time to play the game online. Other than having some problems aiming issues (stupid right thumb!), I quite enjoyed my time playing. I had two very good games and a bunch of average ones. The different graphics compared to MW2 are going to take some adjusting to. Learning where people like to congregate at is definitely going to be important and getting a better understanding of the map layouts will help tremendously.

I had spent quite a bit of time in Combat Training trying to learn the maps before jumping into the multiplayer. Granted, I was playing against Recruit level bots, but that is better than just aimlessly wandering the map and trying to learn the maps alone, as I have to keep some level of attention. The time I spent in Combat Training helped me quite a bit to get a better feel for the maps.

I've been getting connection errors every two or three games, and it's usually right before I get a kill.

This one isn't really keeping my interst like MW and MW2, but it'll be a good time killer until GT5.

I'd rather break the game in half and use the jagged edge to clean myself with than play the game. I can't believe people stuck with that game a full year and won't even stick with this game a full week.

I'm done. This one just sucks for me. I don't know if its the fact that I hate all the maps or all the guns are lame, but I'm done.

I can see your frustration and maybe I can help you to understand where I'm coming from.

I didn't play Cod4, or WaW. I bought MW2 and then someone lent me Cod4 to try out the campaign to see what I'd been missing.
I liked MW2 as I had no other game to reference it against.
Save Killzone 2 and MGS4 and neither of those really count, right?

As it was the only one I have tried, I have been through a steep learning curve of getting my ass handed to me on a million occasions and only fairly recently have I started getting positive match results after a long time playing.
I appreciate it for what it has taught me and how I have had to sharpen up to even get through a match. Even now, ask some fellow GTP'ers and they will tell you how sucky I am. :dopey:

What I haven't done is play a Treyarch title before.
With only MW2 to use as a comparison, I find Black Ops disturbing in a few areas, which I have mentioned before; graphics, party play, hit detection and so forth. I'm sure all these will be patched, or have been already, but for me, it just didn't feel right.
Now here is my point, which I tried to make earlier:

I appreciate that it must take a better gamer than me to succeed in this game, and I bow to your collective FPS prowess, but I do not have the time, patience or controllers to see me through the learning curve on this game, and so I have returned it after one week.
This would be the first time I have done such a thing, as usually I make an informed choice before purchasing a game, but I took the game to be the logical progression in the series and so bought it based on previous experience of MW2, and what I feel I got was a backward step wrapped in cellophane. That's my opinion.

I'm sure the only reason why I don't like it, is because it's too hard for me, and I don't like playing a game that I know I will never commit to becoming very good at.

So, in short, I suck at BO, I don't suck so badly at MW2 and I think I'll stick to that one where at least I can get a predator missile every now and then.

All it really comes down to is map knowledge and a decent weapon. Famas dual mags or AUG red dot are my favorites.

I know this game isn't very noob friendly but if you need commando, unlimited noob tubes and no recoil guns to be good at a game maybe you shouldn't be playing FPS games.

Treyarch as always done a great job patching their games and I have no doubt any issues with this game will be fixed. MW2 on the other hand is still a broken game as far as I'm concerned.

You getting a bit overly defensive here.

I've played FPS games for the better part of 2 decades now. I have never seen hit detection this poor in a "finished" game in my entire life. Early versions of CS from late 90's have better detection systems in place. It isn't an issue of being noob friendly, it is just piss poor execution of a game. You want a game that isn't noob friendly, go play StarCraft 2. As far as I am concerned, anything on a console is "noob" friendly.

Which is only exemplified by the poor handling of the netcode, which makes latency even more painfully obvious at times. You want to see an interesting test, fire 1 bullet, then hit reload, and see how long it hangs. I've had it hang a full half a second before it actually starts the reload process due to latency issues. And that was a 3 bar connection.

500ms is simply unplayable, let alone "good enough for most people." 100ms with proper netcode is still noticeable.

MW2 had its issues with game play mechanics and concepts, namesly OMA, Danger Close, and Commando.

This game just has issues with being finished in the raw mechanics department. The textures are rushed, the system is buggy as hell, and game is lacking woefully because of it. Not to mention AR's aren't a single shot kill to the head at ANY RANGE. You have to shoot everyone half a dozen times to kill them.

Plus Hand Guns are a complete joke outside of the Python. I use to be able to get 2 or 3 kills from a Silenced USP. Now I'm lucky to kill someone with a full clip from anything other than the Python, between this hit detection and absurdly crap damage outputs.

Most people haven't liked the Treyarch games as much, and I can clearly see why. WaW wasn't exactly popular either.

At 100ms an average skilled player can compensate for the latency by leading ahead of the target. But at 500ms that's certainly no longer possible (too much can happen in .5 seconds). But unfortunately, this is what you get when using P2P-based online play. Oh, how I long back to the days of playing BF2 with my clan on a local Dutch dedicated server with 8ms ping times. :)

Still, I must say I haven't had any major issues with BO just yet.

I'd have to go ahead and agree, I don't really understand where all these problems are coming from. I have only really disconnected from host migration (which is rare as it usually gives me host in that situation), and I've never played >50ms ping on BO yet and I haven't felt like my bullets weren't connecting when they should.
