OK guys, so what are your favorites of the maps?

I haven't played on them all yet (for some reason I've not yet played on Airfield) but of the ones I have played I love Roundhouse for its rubble filled mess (with Downfall coming close behind for the same reason) and Castle for its size and elevation changes.

Same here in regards to not playing all the maps yet. Have to say my favorites so far are the european based ones played on hardcore team deathmatch.........talk about sneaky LOL

My favorite maps:
1) Seelow
2) Roundhouse
3) the one with the beach to the side. Outskirts?

My most hated map is Dome. :grumpy:

I've not got to the hardcore rank yet, as I wanted to get the main story finished before I gave all my time to the on-line, and I'm glad I did as the story mode is very good towards the end (but I do believe it makes a difference if you know the history behind the actual battles).

Besides I wanted to open up.....
Nazi Zombies
.

I am however ranking up quite quickly at present so I'm looking forward to hardcore (always my pick of the COD4 match types).

I personally don't have a favouite map and as of yet neither do I have a least favourite/hated maps.

They are all very different and very varied 👍.

EDIT 1: I will tell you what is quite quickly becoming a hate of mine. When playing S&D and the other team plant bouncing bettys around the target and then booooooom! I know it's a tactical manouvre but its just not sporting.

EDIT 2: I love throwing the Anti Tank grenades and watching them stick to your opponets it's so funny watching them run about trying to shake them off but that ain't going to happen . One of the very first times I played online I was struck with an Anti Tank grenade and I didn't realise what they were, whilst trying to run away from the grenade icon I noticed that I wasn't able to :odd:. On watching the Kill Cam Replay it highlighted the fact that the grenade was infact stuck to my head  this made my day and I now try to reinact this scenario on my enemies at every oppurtunity I get 👍.

I might buy this game after all since I got my motorbike back, my financial situation is more stable. :) Maybe this weekend I'll be on :)

My friends have it for the 360, I'm renting it tonight for the ps3, The NZ game mode is abs. amazing. Online 4 player on the 360 and on ps3 from what I understand aswell is probally going to be the best time EVER

If the gaming store I'm going tonight has this, I'll be playing it all night and probably skip work tomorrow. :D

I've even been practicing with the MP44 since I got home today. Works amazingly well in Hardcore mode, I'm loving it.

I can't wait to get hardcore mode unlocked. I like using rifles the best right now, but its horrible when it comes to close quarters. It seems like all of the automatic weapons are horribly inaccurate anywhere further than medium range. With the Thompson I usually have to reload if I'm taking someone down quickly (read: lots of recoil).

To be honest if you look at the MP5 for instance on cod4 your talking stuid acuracy at rediculous range! I've fired the good old british army SMG on a 10 meter range along with alot of other weapons whilst serving in the armed forces, in the case of the SMG the way you actualy use it was to aim at the bottom left of your target and the recoil would draw the weapon up and right as you fired subsequent shots.......this was at 10 meters! inerestingly a good stout blanket soaked in water would stop the rounds at 20 meters as effectivley as a tank!....But I'm straying away and given time I'll be recounting war stories LOL My point being (yes there is one I think) is that the acuracy and recoil is more realistic than in the previous game where you could nail someone at 100 yards with every shot on full auto with an M4......belive me this wouldn't happen!

Taking this into account, when you switch to hardcore and it's 1 good hit and your dead, the more realistic acuracy of the older guns really dose get rid of "rambo" gameplay. Most go for mid to long range weapons and although the reload times are very slow your chances of survival and a good kill rate is higher, you just need to stick to cover when moving! I regularly find myself in 12 player games and see about 4 enemys in the whole game. the pace is slower but the tension is far higher.

I did love hardcore on COD4 and spent most of my time in those matches. COD5 on the large maps takes it to a new level. Theres a big difference between standard and hardcore now and it seems to be diswadeing the "youth of today" from playing it.....This gives us old folk our very own section LOL

I tried hardcore and went 0-7 before I quit

Even though I'm considered "young" I have to agree. It's much more enjoyable when you're not playing with a bunch of stupid players. (By stupid I don't mean bad, but just ****-talkers who don't play tactically at all.)

Why on earth does the "Second Chance" perk description say "Revive downed allies"? Its just "Last Stand". Treyarch needs to go do some work for EA, they seem pretty satisfied with just copy/pasting stuff from the previous game...Not that CoD5 is bad, there's just too much of CoD4 still sitting there untouched.

What Call of Duty 5?

How many times.. there is no 5 yet..

This game it's on it's own. It's not a sequel, or a prequel.

And not even the COVER or COD Website says that it's a 5.

Im classified as very young but I have faith in this game. All my friends say it is worse but when get it, I will play it and like it.

I agree with the talkers also...drive me MAD in every match. I have to mute my tv in the lobby and mute all the players at the start of the match...it is soo frustrating.

By "young" I was iimplying "imiture" which covers the "talkers" the shoot your own team mate guys and the suicide runners.......LOL I was trying to be tactful, in GT5p terms its those who race properly and those who take you off the track every 30 seconds LOL

I did a bit more of the story yesterday and my opinion is changeing, the more you progress the beter the story and the levels become.....enemy at the gates anyone?

There will not be a true COD5. Tretarch had to go back in time so naming it 5 would not make sense in that it doesn't continue anything. I doubt any future CODs will be numbered for this reason too.

I really don't care, it is the fifth COD so I'll continue to shorten it as such.

Talking about the Nacht der Toten(Night of the Dead) mode, I got all the way up to level 12 last night. I carefully picked three fairly good players from my list. El_mas_Bellaco, luis2726, and BattleAxe. The **** gets intense! Just one tip: never use the Sawn-Off or the Double-Barelled shotgun after level 8. Get's too intense, your gonna waste a lot of crucial time reloading.
The best guns I've used in the mode have been:
Trench Gun
BAR
.357 Magnum
Kar98(for the beginning levels)
Thompson

You and I seem to have taken the same approach. I just made it to level 11 in single player. The BAR and the trench gun are how its done. I just wish the BAR could hold more ammo. I find myself using the knife more than I'd like :scared:

Just bought the game around 5 hours ago. Im now rank 11 or 12.

I fluctuate on the end of deathmatches lol either middle, low... or high lol

I must get used to this as I have no clue on which gun is the best to use and how the maps work lol

:)

Just experiment til you find what you like, I'll be heading Mosin Nagant (various versions), Springfield, Garand, Thompson plus a couple more in general.

(when i get it)

What are you saying lol ;)👍

Yea Ive got some practice to do later and some unlocking.

I picked guns on COD4 primarily on their looks and/or history (or previous experiences on other games with them giving them some gaming centiment) but I tried every gun to find any others I enjoyed or disliked.

No more winking at me ok?

There has been more then 5 call of duty games.. There been few on their own JUST LIKE THIS ONE that came to PS2 and Xbox.

Do we all know which game is being talked about when the abreviation COD5 is used? Good righ..... call of duty world of warcraft is just to much of a mouthfull LOL

I tend to go wth what suits the map. sub machine guns for the small maps or reallu built up maps, rifles and machine guns for the medium stuff and the sniper rig for the large maps, I don't use the trernch guns and never did in COD4. Really a case of personal preferance and also a knowledge of the maps and ultimatly how you want to play the game. Fast game modes sub machine guns, slow tacticle games sniper or rifle. As said before try them all to see what suits you.

I have to say I'm loving WaW a lot, I also appear to be much better at this that I was with COD4.

Maybe the guns and/or maps suit me better or maybe the quality of opposition is not as good. I never had a match in which I went 20:7 in team deathmatch on COD4, yet last night that's what I managed.

I've been reading all your comments, the game sounds great, not the disaster it was built up to be when we heard it was set in WWII and that Treyarch were making it. I'm going to get it early next week, although you probably wont see me online until around the 6th of December, when I get the PS3 home. Hoping for some great matches with all of you and possibly a Home club for us all, but I suppose that'll have to wait until we see how Home is going to work.

Alot seem to have doom and gloomed it before they have even played it :grumpy:. You have to give it time to get used to the weapons and the maps. Ive personally starting to prefer it more than COD4 it seems to be at a slower pace which I think suits my style of play. Playing S&D I'm better on WaW than I ever was on the COD4 version.

The online issues will probably soon be ironed out with an update patch, granted it is a little annoying having to find another match after the server times out after every online match but I can put up with this.

I also wish Treyarch adopted the online host migration for WaW which they used so well in COD3 👍.
