Just started this game today. And well its seems really really good. The guns which I thought were going to frustrate me are actually fun to use and force you to aim better then we use to in Modern Warfare. Its also my first game with trophy support so now I have my first 3 trophies after only about 45 mins of play, but I'm guessing it will be very difficult to get them all. So far I like it, yes everything that runs the game and all the menus apart from minor visual changes have been lifted straight from Modern Warfare but this is good, for the first time in ages I've been able to jump right into a game, not have to pick the easiest level and yet be really good at it.

Dont expect to see me online soon though, I still have to sort out a problem I have with ports and the people who run the network, but you will all have your chances to kill me in a few weeks hopefully, after I spend a few days downloading everything I've missed over the past few months, I still dont have GT5P spec III !!!!

The one thing I would add is that Sniper rifles feel much better in COD:WaW than they every did in COD4.

In part I think the aiming is a touch tighter, which certainly helps; and the larger maps give a sniper a better role to play. Notched up my bigest kill streak yet last night with a Springfield and sniper scope on Seelow, great fun.

Seelow is Sniper heaven :)

Seelow is Sniper heaven :)

As are Outskirts (I think that's what its called - the one with the bombed out Church) and Downfall.

Found a great spot that gave me a perfect view of the ridge, railway line and railway cars. Sitting ducks and they all stood together for when I called in the guns as well, very nice of them. Had a great view when they all ran away from the dogs as well.

I also love taking out tank gunners as well, so happy that one has a challenge for it.

Happy sniper here.

Would that be on the water tower at the bottom end of the map by any chance ;)

EDIT: Maps added 👍

Not in this case (but I have used that spot before), almost at the opposite end of the map is a building with an wooden balcony, that's the spot I used.

Good work with the maps as well, very handy, and I'd forgotten that Roundhouse has a couple of excellent sniping spots as well.

Is there any map in the split screen mode that allows you to use vehicles? I dont seem to be able to find them, so I guess not?

I've put A LOT of time into the game over the past week and a half (Xbox 360 version by the way), and it's getting better all the time. It's not as good as COD4 though - it seems a little less consistent and the weapons aren't as good. But the good thing is the higher level you are, the better weapons you unlock. It almost made me not want to prestige - the M1A1 is a VERY good gun, the PTRS is a VERY good sniper, and the flamethrower is almost unbeatable at close range. But, for the life of me, I cannot do well on the huge maps. Downfall is ok - sniping is fairly good on it, but it's so big you get bored or if you see anyone they're getting you from a camping spot. Not good. Even when you're in a tank, which is overpowering on smaller maps...

I am dissapointed with the limited edition version of the game though. You get double XP for a week, an extra gun (or two), a cantine and a special tin. There's a drawback to all of this - the cantine doesn't even open, the M1A1 you unlock dissapears once you reach prestige one, because the custom 6 slot takes its place, and the double XP only seems to be on TDM and War - you can get more XP if you do well on CTF or HQ!

Notice the No. rank of my mate. :p

I should record some videos soon really, but I'm so inconsistent is isn't funny...

G.T
But, for the life of me, I cannot do well on the huge maps.

Opposite for me because I only use semi's and bolt action rifles so I'm great on the open ones and rubbish on the small spawn campy type maps.

I always thought that the semi autos would just be too hard to use and that Id suck with them, but finally I decided to try one out and wow. Much more fun now that I use them quite often.

Just had my best game to date on WAW with my Mosin Nagant sniper, it's first time out, 28 kills 1 death :) My favourite weapon of all time serves me well already.

I'm about to rent this, any thing that I must do to make the most of it whilst I've got it?

Get to hardcore mode ASAP. The core mode seems too unfair in that machine guns dominate. In my opinion it feels like a step back from CoD where every weapon has an equal chance of killing when in the right hands and used correctly, but the balance returns in hardcore mode.

As my first CoD game I didnt really know what hardcore was and it really convinced me when I tried it.

Tip: Hid with a Machine gun or rifle always will get some kills easy

Until you get hit with an artillery strike or the dogs sniff you out. ;)

I used to think the exact same thing, until I finally tried to use the rifles. SVT-40 is my main choice right now and its really really good. I dont think the bolt action ones are balanced correctly though, But once you get the scope for them they are sniper rifles so it really doesnt matter.

Actually, that's exactly what I was referring too. You had to be extremely accurate with anything single shot and the Tommy Gun didn't have enough ammo (coupled with its recoil) to win a firefight. Yet using an LMG only a few shots are required for a kill and the Type 99 doesn't have a ton of recoil.

Ohh that makes more sense. Yeah, type 99 owns. Im not very good with the thompson or the mp40. I cant seem to rack up the kills with any sub machine guns really.

I think there's no real inbalance, I think the Aperture should be removed though, it seems to make an MP40 some kind of sniper rifle with the low recoil. Other then that the bolt action rifles with no scopes are kind of rubbish if you're not the top marksman, but once you put the time in to get the 25 kills and a scope (it's not all that much trouble if you avoid close quarters), you've got yourself one hell of a weapon.

With hardcore only a couple of shots are required from the submachine guns, which means you can actually use them like submachine guns. 💡

What I really hated about the regular core mode is that the snipers wouldn't kill in one shot. Given that they are even slower this time around I rarely managed to kill someone with one.

Speaking of snipers, I killed somebody like 30 yards away with the Springfield. Without using the scope. Too bad it was on hardcore or they would have cried when they watched the killcam. The guy stepped out of a bombed out building and I reacted by pulling the trigger without having the chance to aim. Dead.

No scope!

My solution to none one-shot kill, stopping power, works a charm.

I just got the scope for the Mosin Nagant.
It was fun trying to snipe people miles away (works but not usually)

The Semi auto Rifles with scope will take me a while.

Just got the grenade launcher for the Springfield :)

Has anyone gotten the Sum of All Zeroes trophy? My highest kill count is 38 (you need to shoot down 45) and I'm going nuts. There's a guy on youtube getting 57, he makes it look easy :grumpy:

Curse you! ;)
I was after all the trophies but I had to return the game to Blockbuster today. :( I think the most Zero kills I got in Black Cats was.. 11? Haha, i dont really know.
