Here's a quick how to for anyone who wants to divide your monitor screen in two so they can view two applications side by side. I will also be talking about how they can split the screen using two monitors and split your wallpapers so you can have a different wallpaper on each monitor.
The first how-to is really only useful if you have a computer display widescreen. Otherwise, the division of a normal monitor does not leave enough real estate to the two applications. However, if you have a 15 ", 17" or larger widescreen display, you can easily split the single monitor. And the best part of the division on a monitor is that you do not need any software application, you can do it for free using the built-in Windows settings.
So in order to split the screen in half horizontally or vertically, first two applications open, say Word and Excel. Now click on a tab in the Windows taskbar and press CNTRL on your keyboard. While holding down the CNTRL key, click the Other tab in the taskbar. Both should be selected now (which should have a darker background than the other chips)
Now that both applications are selected in the taskbar, click any of them and choose Tile Vertically option.
And viola! You should now have word on one side of the screen and Excel on the other side! If you want to view in landscape instead of portrait view, just choose Tile Horizontally.
You can also split the screen three or more ways by selecting more applications on the taskbar! Very easy! So that's what it is to split the screen if you have a monitor.
If you have more than one monitor, you can follow the same procedure shown above for each monitor. In this way, you have four split applications on two monitors. Now if you're a bit lazy like me and you do not just simply click a button to split the screen, then you can buy a cool little program called SplitView.
SplitView basically makes a graphical user interface for this function built into Windows by adding buttons for each window opened to move to the left or right.
Click on the arrow to the left and that the program is divided to the left and the same for the arrow to the right. You can also configure keyboard shortcuts to make it even easier.
