Cannot download 1.04 update

I go to the update when it asks me to download the update. It goes to please wait then my PS3 double bleeps like it's turning off.

i think there was a similar problem with 1.03 update when you had to accept the update as soon as you could [ less than 2seconds ] try it , as soon as the messeage appears accept the update
if it doesnt work & you have a decent connection , just delete game data [ not save data ] just gamedata
n start downloading from patch one again
unless someone else has a solution

The only solution I can offer is unfortunately pricey, as it requires PS+, initiate the Auto Update for game updates, set it to the current timeframe and then turn the PS3 off, it will turn back on automatically in a black screen with text explaining Auto Update is in progress.

Wait a couple minutes and turn the controller on to exit the screen and proceed back to the XMB, you should notice the patch is background downloading in the Network section because GT6 was the last game you played. It will download uninterrupted as you browse the web or play light games that don't stop background downloads.

Thanks for the tip, pressing x immediately got me through after countless of failures. I'd never have thought of that, as I've had several issues before where I had to wait until the HDD light stopped blinking before pressing x.
