If I drive a car in an A-spec Free Run in Practice, will it break in my car, or do you have to be in an actual race?

This question was asked 2 days ago and a quick search should give you some info.
The car will break in after 280+ miles on free run or A-Spec or you can let the car run an enduro-race on B-Spec.

This. ^.^

Although mygranturismo.net claims it's only 186.2 miles. But I'd do 280 miles just to be sure.

And the only thing that won't put miles on it is online racing.

You need 186 miles. Any drag racer here knows because we try to squeeze as much power out of cars as we can.

Thanks guys.

186Miles=300Km. Makes it easy to remember if you know your conversions.

It will if you have tire wear and fuel consumption on.

Yeah, I see tons of rooms online titled "Car break in" so its possible to break in cars online.

1. I have found that the Route X does not break in Cars,

2. Online I have found does not break in cars.

3. Tire wear did not affect my findings...

It does if you do a race online with tire wear on. I've broken in quite a few cars this way.

why does a car need to be broken in?

To achieve maximum hp. It doesn't need to be but for some the extra hp is well worth the effort. 👍

Especially in the world of drag racing, that extra hp can decide wether or not you win or lose a race.

So according to this thread, I have to drive one car for 280mi. to get the "Full benefit" of the engine power.
Are you crazy?
Heck I`ve got 86 Bugattis`, I would have to drive around the clock to get all my cars "Broken in".
And how much faster is my Veyron gonna go after break-in?

It depends on the car, it's like the oil change where the extra power can go from as much as 5hp up to +/-15hp

Damn dude 86??? That's insane!

I don't know why you would need to break-in the engines for all of your Bugatti's, but as mentioned by raz_10, you can give B-spec Bob the keys, and have him run the Laguna Seca endurance race every night. After 86 days, Bob will be done!

Enjoy!

Yeah I know, 86 Veys is insanity, but I`m always looking for more.
But what about the "How much faster" question?
I`ve done 381mph ghosting (weak penalty), will I get 382mph after break-in, and that would take 15 laps on the X-Track or an hour of straight running. (ea)

Ghosting?
I am not familiar with you alien technology.

I'm guessing he was in an online lobby with weak penalties and was slipstreaming another car and then when he caught up, he drove straight through it.

Yes, like a ghost :)

Tony, If you put a lot of miles on your Veyrons and always want a car that is max hp without constantly breaking in cars have a look here. https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=257376

Thanx, but I have no intentions of driving any one car for 6000mi., I have too many cars.
It just seems strange that ppl do this and don`t seem to have justification (provable evidence). I`ve actually been in rooms where the host would get mad saying " No Racing, Break-in only".

Which is funny because cars don't get broken in online.

Yes they do. As long as you finish the race, your car accumulates miles. I used to break my NASCAR cars in all the time in online Daytona rooms. So yes, you can break a car in online.

But in "break-in" lobbies they rarely ever race.

Ok, I was just referring to your statement that cars don't get broken in online, which they do in a race if you finish. If you're talking about the other online modes, then I'm not sure about that. All I know is, in an online race, miles count as long as you finish the race. I used to join online 100 lap Daytona races all the time to break my NASCAR cars in.

You need to race in my rooms Gamer - I always have tire wear on. I find having this enabled stops the crazy drifting some people do.

Really? Comfort softs on a Tank Car with tire wear on makes for great drifting...at Indy.

 I will take your word on that one! I still have yet to do one drift race/challenge. The thought of it makes me vomit.
