I hope not, and I don't like the idea of disabling ABS either, I'll have to learn to drive all over again. The best part about GT is not having to put up with a busted ride, if the computer cheats and rams you it doesn't effect you. Now we'll have to restart a 24hr race after 8hrs of racing because Bob crashed once. What a load.

“We’ve had a lot of discussions with the manufacturers and although at the beginning they hated the idea of deformation, now they’re slowly coming around to it. We’ve still got a few to convince, but we will. Expect deformation in the very near future: very, very soon.”

Full details:

Which is a re-quote from "VideoGames24" which was basically stolen from here:

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=103989

Why do I know this? Becuase I was the one who Youtubed the video on request from people here.

I am amazed how quickly word spreads on the internet and various sites then quote it as if its 'new' information :) I love how VideoGame24 puts a spin on this as if THEY had spoken to PD and got this info.. When what they really did was find my video on Youtube and then rip quotes from it!!

@jossigab...maybe first check if there is allready a thread existing with this info.....its all dubble now.

I do check the threads, and I couldn't find it. Maybe it was too low or I've just missed it by mistake.
BTW - it's Yossi, not Jossi :sly: (gab is the start of my family name)

What AI have you been racing? The AI always turn into me, scrape me, barge past me. They drive like its Destruction Derby.

I welcome damage, but if it costs to fix after then it'll be VERY annoying. Either when an AI rams you, or you lose concentration for a split second and kiss the wall.

But then again, reducing the R35 to a piece of scrap metal is just what I wanted! :trouble:

Worse thing on GT4 was on a rally if you slowed down and the opponent rammed you into a wall and you get the time penalty.

Made me want to punch puppies with anger

Yes! On one of the Alps rallies, the opponent will steer right into you at the start. :censored:ing annoying!

Dont punch puppies though, they are cute and innocent. :(

This jweaver thing keeps popping up, with different thread names.. BTW, dude, it's not as if it's your info too. You didnt interview Yamauchi.. The Annoying sounding GamerTV people did.. Which you brought to our attention, that I give you! :)

I am not trying to get recognition for it... Not for a second.. What I am saying is that they Techically got it from GTPlanet, but they makes it sound like THEY interviewed PD..

It actually says "on the eve of the lauch, Yamauchi speaks about....", which is an outright lie.. They should really say "we found this video on Youtube and it has this interesting fact......"

There is nothing wrong with them bringing this info to the attention of a wider audience, but to make it sound like they actually 'got' the info (rather than simply finding it) is not fair, as it gives them more credability than it deserves.

Atlteast "psu.com" quoted "Videogames24" as the source.. They in turn, should have put "GTPlanet" or even "GamerTV" or "Bravo" as the source!

I totally agree with you.. You should give credit where it's due. And honestly we're quite thankful to you for the second bit of the video. The first 5 mins were there on youtube for a few days, but the second bit (the part after 5 mins or so), you only grabbed and posted.. But if you expect these websites to acknowledge anybody else, but themselves, is like expecting the next Need for Speed to be a Sim Racing Game :p ..

Not to worry.

The dog was never in very close proximity.

I would be happy with pretty much any damage PD is willing to give. I have faith in their ability to provide us with a great game and im sure they will implement damage in a good, non-intrusive way. They have to consider things we don't such as slowing down the ps3, how much development work it will take.
Im happy with just the fact they said deformation will be in the game. I cant ask for any more..

I've had a few pretty frustrating moments so far with the AI in GT5: Prologue. It was especially bad on Suzuka in a couple of the S-class events. The AI constantly tried to push me off the track, as if I weren't there. They don't leave any room at corner entry, even if I am on the inside, a tad in front of them and obviusly have the right to the racing line. It honestly is a bit frustrating, but it is a lot better than the AI in GT4 though.

And, they do make a lot of mistakes, especially at Suzuka.

I'm dying to know how soon is "very, very soon"
I am guessing it will be the absolute next big upgrade to prologue we see.
Very, very soon in developer speak usually means months, so I'd say in a month we will see or hear more about it.
US release anyone?

That would be cool if they made it like GRID, but I know it won't happen because it's no GT's style... :indiff:

I'd be alright with damage as long as you didn't have to pay for it, I don't want to pay for Bob's crash, I want to fire Bob :sly:

I'm happy with how the game is now, but if they were to include aero kits of the good type (like the ones posted in that other thread), I'd be estatic 👍

why would that be a bad thing? that would be awesome and the game would be a real challenge!

I agree. Those of us who want damage want realism too, and having to pay for repairs etc is a big part of that.

When you take a car racing, you run the risk of it being beaten up, be it through you binning it, or an opponent hitting you for whatever reason. Having to repair that stuff is all part of it.

I think that having to pay for repairs etc could make the start of the game that much more interesting, when money is tight and you have a fairly matched car etc, I really enjoy those times in GT games.

If you're running a 24hour race using Bob, you're possibly not that bothered about the realism, or you're in the unfortunate situation of not having the time / inclination perhaps to win the race in your own time to earn whatever the winnings are. Even so, you're sending some AI to do the work for you, and I think the risk of having Bob stuff your priceless GT-R Prototype into a barrier on the Nurb would be a great addition.

There should be an 'on' and 'off' switch for it! :) then every body is happy, the talented drivers and the untalented drivers

Looks like Gran Turismo will be turning into destruction derby pretty soon then!

Its called a pit crew, they can fix your car depending on how bad the damage really is..Just be sure to pit often and make sure your car is running A1!.. It just makes the game even more realistic to the real 24 hr races

I agree On or Off in settings, personally I'm not a fan of damage - I like the idea that I have got this prestine, superb unscratched cars sitting in my garage - it really gives you a buzz rather than having a beat up ferrari f40!

Levels of damage would be good if they could implement it...

Physical only (looks change but car is still drive-able) and Real (Physical and Mechanical) so you could at least choose. Could get expensive though if you had to keep paying for it not to say frustrating I suppose.

When PD mean very soon they mean like next year!

Actually, it could possibly be ready in time for the full version of GT5. In this video, towards the end, they mention something about individual parts being modeled by components, such that parts like the bumper, etc, may be replaced by other parts in the future. While this lends itself primarily to additional car customization, I don't think it would be too far off to see the same idea being used as a basis for realistic damage. [/speculation]

I can't believe some of you people are against damage. Wimps. I would be HAPPY to pay for damage after screwing up. That would give you more weight to the situation. That will make low low nurburgring times that much better. Pushing your car to the limit that much harder. It will instill a pseudo fear of crashing, like in real life. I know I am an overly aggressive driver in gt4 sometimes, and I know damage will change the way I drive for the better. No ABS A bad idea? Go play NFS. This is how it is in real life. You don't like it, keep your silly abs and traction control on, and the training wheels on your bicycle. (thought I might keep the lowest setting of abs on in non-race cars that come equipped with it, unless it really give you an added stopping advantage.)

Hooray for realism and simulation!

@deadlyz33...agree!imagine that when you crash your car and its damaged in some sort of level(say:steering is off...wheel broken...or much much worse offcourse!)you have to realy buy your repairs at your garage with your well earned hard driven money?????.....
that would change some peoples driving stile(read-idiots!)for sure!!
spyrrari.

This is what at least I want:

And if they have modeled almost every single part of the car I think this could be possible! 💡

EDIT: Oh and the demolation should be different with a racecar ofcourse because it has rollcage and probably have many body parts made of carbon fiber or fiber glass!
