What's so wrong with sharing chassis? Once upon a time you got buy yourself a chassis off one of the major competing manafacturers and have an entry. I'm very aware that it is a "Constructors" Championship. But it should be really a "Team" championship. By having the same chassis it could be seen which team has the better ability to maximise the potential of the car, and would also show the difference between a wide amount of drivers. But I guess if Teams want to buy chassis, then the FIA should make one for them, that way a "Constructor" cannot favor a specific team.

That is actually what the FIA wants to do; complete homologation of the cars. They did however realize how bad that would be for Formula 1 though, and started thinking in other terms. The idea of chassis-for-sale was what they came up with.

I assume that teams that put up chassis for sale, is going to want more than just money for it. Testresults, telemetry, development features and so on. So there will in effect be only a few big teams, and their "sidekicks". Meh, how cynical of me.

I think the whole concept of chassis sharing is bad for the sport, though. 👎
It worked until the late-1970s. How many different cars showed up to many races in 1950-51? Three or four, that's it.

I personally think the 24-car/12-team rule is bad for the sport, because less drivers will be able to show their talent in F1; with customer cars, you can get more teams in the mix, and the FIA can still charge an astronomical fee to the entrants. I think both parties win with that proposal...

:D

Yeah but think Blake, they'll put a diesel in it, and it'll win the F1 championship for the next 4 seasons with McNish. lol

This is all Audi's missing; it would be spectacular if Audi takes the leap...Mercedes versus Auto union and Scuderia Ferrari all over again! I bet the FIA would even bend the 12-team rule to allow Audi (or probably any huge world-wide automotive brand), because Bernie knows it would look great for the sport.

In any case, a Constructor's Championship always separted the entrants form the make of car, only best results count...so we'll see if the FIA repeats history.

Spyker livery change

much better lookin with the black compared to the all orange. Kinda reminds me of the Arrows F1 cars

Ohh that's a good looking car now..

Might just go slow enough for us to take it all in too.

Honestly, I always did like the Arrows. For a backfield team they did have good straight line speed during their last few years as a constructor.

I've always thought a good ratio of orange and black was a very sharp look on a F1 car. That's almost enough for me to pick Spyker as the backfield team I'll be supporting this season. If they'd bring back the Benson Hedges girls that used to hang around their pits when Jordan had them as a sponsor, then we'd have a clear winner.

I'd think the new strip was sexy if it weren't for the fact that I've used that word to describe almost every other team's livery for this year (with the possible exception of Red Bull).

Still, it looks good. I must admit I did like the chevron-like design down the side of the old Spyker strip, though.

I TOLD you guys the Spyker would wind up looking like an Asics shoe!

from what I've seen when I went to Bahrain all cars look either OK or good , but the Renault was hideous

That's just untill they will get sponsorship for the season:)
Uh, no, they're actually racing in that. They'll get money by licenceing the "EarthCar" image to other corporations such as Universal Music and Gatorade and earn money that way. The EarthCar is not an interim livery (at least, I don't think it is).

Renault and Spyker version 1.0 might have been hazardous to the retina, but in terms of sheer ugliness, the SA07 takes first prize.

Theres nothing really wrong with that, it looks pretty standard in my opinion, but i do still think that the Renault is a MS Paint job.

SA seems to have taken the RA107 and cut off the back to take to their factory with gleeming smiles on their faces..
