Well I dunno, it would appear Toyota have picked up a front wing from the Honda factory over the winter.

As for Spyker, maybe their plan on the championship is to blind all the other drivers, car is going to look horrible come the end of the race with all the dirt. Good luck to them anyway, Sutil should beat Albers.

Last year they pinched Mclaren's livery. This year they settled for Mclaren's test cars instead. How kind of them.

Ah it's not that bad, granted their livery with the silver from the backend of last season was better but personally I think the chrome/silver of McLaren is more blinding on a sunny day then orange.

:grumpy: not the livery damnit, I'm talking about the design of the car. It's looked the same for the past 4-5 seasons, clearly hasn't worked out for them yet still they go with pretty much the same design.

Oh, okay. Yes, you’re absolutely right, the cars haven’t changed at all in the last 5 years.

See if you can guess which one is the 2007 car. I know it took me a little while to pick the differences.

Easy. bottom one. check the tire brands. also looks swoopier.

GP have become uglier in the past 5 years, that's know I can tell...

Is Toyota the only team without the pinched-in body inlets?

I thought Spyker would do a color combo like this:

Oh well.

I'm just wondering when Honda are coming out with their new livery. Now that most of the major teams have shown their cars, it's about the only thing that will interest me until the opening round.

That's Spykers newest weapon to get to the podium - the cars livery will actually blind the drivers that are in front through their rear-view mirror.

Technical director Alex Hitzinger was at pains to emphasise the differences between the STR2 and its Red Bull cousin.

“Apart from the obvious one that the chassis is different to accommodate a different engine, nearly all the major elements are different too, including bodywork, wings, management systems and so on,” he said.

that just makes me laugh , who are they kidding? LOL even the front wing is the same

The Toro Rosso mechanics worked through last night and throughout the day to ready the chassis after parts were flown in at the last minute.

they were waiting for RBR to finish from these parts so the could use them :P

but seriously I see a big problem with this during the season ,I'm sure that devlopment for both cars is going to be very similar , RBR and STR will be an A and B team no doubt . I do think that this is unfair to Williams and Spyker

You gotta be ****tin me! Just take the Newey RB3, slap on a big red bull sticker on the engine cowl, call it the STR2 and race away.... sorry but this shouldn't be allowed! I bet the Aguri will look exactly like the Honda then.

I fully back Williams and Spyker in their arguments against this.

I actually don´t see anything wrong with this. As of next season, it will be totally allowed for anyone.
Spyker teamboss Mike Gascoyne has even stated that he was reluctant to develop this years car at all, since he can simply buy a new chassis next season, and save some money in the process.
And Prodrive will most likely go that way too.

Fine then, well if that goes ahead, and you can buy a chassis.... then those teams who buy them should not be allowed to compete for the CONSTRUCTORS championship because they are not constructing the car!

Really good point you got there +rep. F1 stands for innovative thinking and design and making a good package and not just only buy chasis, then your killing the sport.

Well, they call it a constructor's championship because they make the teams build their chassis. What if it was simply a team championship?

I can see two clear differences.

I think the whole concept of chassis sharing is bad for the sport, though. 👎

Mind sharing what the differences are, cause for me all I see is difference in chimneys and rear wing.

The STR2 is missing the wings coming from the sides of the top air intake, and it’s missing a set of winglets behind the chimneys on the sidepods. They’re the biggest differences.

Well, gee, they're painted differently, too. :) But what's actually different between the two cars?

Same nose, same wing (front and rear - I think Sting's "difference" is simply viewing angle), same intake scoop, same mirrors, same camera mount, same chimneys, same suspension layout. Tack-on winglets do not a new chassis make. Perhaps that was your point, and I missed the [SUBTLE] code.

Personally, I have no problem with customer chassis. But then I was watching F1 when 4 or 5 teams ran a Lotus in the '60s.
