At this point I've given up on leveling up any further and am now just collecting cars. What cars have you guys found to be surprisingly powerful or just better than expected?

The Mini Cooper S and the Honda Civic (new one, forget what year) really suprised me. Mainly thew mini cooper, such a fun and quick handling car to use.

Countach 25th anniversary. I won it a while back but only used it last night. WOW. Blows the F40 away in terms of useability sub 8 minute ring time on first go.

I dont tune my cars (yet), so these are all stock with Sport Hard Tyres.

Yep the Cerbera Speed 12 (but really that should be a given),
the RUF 3200S (Boxster) is really suprising, much easier to handle than the 911 based cars and rather quick too (i'm not a great porsche steerer).
The new Dodge Challenger is rather suprising too, in real life I dont think its anywhere near as good as it is in the game.
Also the M3 CSL is a good all rounder.

These are just a few of the suprises I have come across from hot lapping my cars, sure there are plenty that are faster however these stood above as cars I didnt think would be as good as they turned out.

I'm collecting cars too! Got up to 4 versions of some models. A stock version and at least one tuned version of the same car. I recommend the Audi R8 V8. It has very good all round balance. Sounds great, drives great, handles great and looks great! I already had the V10 but have been deeply impressed by the V8.

Lately I've tried to use cars that are more challenging...ones that have very distinct characteristics...using a F40 (with ABS off) over the 458 so I can experience the wonderful late 80's turbo lag and lack of ABS, or using the CTR Yellowbird for the turbo lag plus ridiculous rear-weight bias, etc. They really force you to concentrate and have much more personality than many modern cars. Charles Manson has a strong personality too by the way...personality isn't always "good"

TVR Cerbera before I race modded it seemed so well balanced and so nice to drive, whereas I was expexpecting it to be a real handful. Didn't feel the same afterwards though.

Yea I have a murcielago (spelling is probably wrong) and I love it but you're right it is very rear heavy.

I really enjoy my amemiya(sp?) RX7 left all the settings alone all the aids off. It is a blast to drive around Tsukuba. Also like a bone stock DC5 ITR with sports hard tires around the same track. Back in the GT4 days there was a competition on Honda-Tech to see what kind of times people could get in that and since then I have loved it. The roommate and I have some good competitions with that, loser buys the beer

Keeping in line with charliec, I really like the Lancia Stratos, the road and rally version. They can put down respectable times but you have to be on your game the whole time or you'll find yourself backwards in a ditch. I love it. No driver aids obviously.
