I'm very excited about GT4, but the cars, like all other GT games, are way too shiny. They look very realistic other then they're too damnd shiny. Their shine is too much expecially in photomode where if they weren't so shiny they'd look much more realistic.

Do you have any screens to back this claim up? Personally, I would much rather have a shiny, slick, new looking car than a dull one.

I think its better to be shiney than not shiney at all.

Would you want cars like in Test Drive 6 (PSone) with dull looking things...

If you dont like shiny cars, take them out on the track, race about 20 laps and dirty them up. They shouldn't be naturally shiny anymore ;)

Let me tell you. I'd rather have shiny cars than ugly, dull, or even crappy cars. It's the same thing about G4TechTV show "X Play" sometimes. Someone comments about "shiny things." And I'm like, so what? I'd want some sparkle than dullness. I think someone joked about Driv3r in a magazine saying that "There won't be any shiny cars in this game..."

I know I made a thread about can cars sparkle, but the shiny nature of the cars doesn't mean they go faster, it just means they are presented nicely. With the right car color, the environment will be reflected on the car. So like the beautiful silver of the VW Beetle RSi, the car looks pretty nice when flying around Rome (like I did in a practice race). Even if ugly stock cars make it into GT4, they'd even shine despite the fact that people want to go wrecking them (I couldn't care less, really). So I'll put it like this. I'd rather have shiny cars than dull pieces of crap, like an unrestored car. But too shiny? Better than none.

Are you in for a treat? You want shiny? Check this out being mentioned in my past thread entitled "Car Paint." This car, however, comes from the Cars in General/Nissan Performance Zone thread entitled "chrome nissan Skyline R34 !!!!! gotta see.":

Better hope something like THIS doesn't make it into GT4!

Belive it or not you could make cars that shiny in GT3. Well only if you had access to an X-Port and MKS program, you could up the levels of shinyness to an almost bling blingy level. I've seen pictures but i've never bothered trying to do it, mainly because it looked stupid.

I must admit some cars did have an unrealistic sheen about them in GT3, it's improved though in GT4 where everything seems to look less colorfull and more gritty.

I'm sure they won't stay that shiny for long? They will get duller the more you race, like in GT3, but maybe they will not restore to their 'as new' shinyness (?) once you've owned them for a while, unless they will have a 'waxing' option too? Maybe PD could also make the GT4 game disc have 'new-car smell' for that ultra realistic touch, just like the GT2 'GT mode' disc smelt like tyre rubber :)

There's a catch to that chrome-like paint. I heard it costs $5,000 in Australian dollars, or $3,549 in US dollars (thanks to http://www.oanda.com/converter/classic for the conversion. And in case you need to make any monetary conversions, please use the "Monetary Conversions" link in my signature.) per liter! So this is beyond "bling bling." Not even your average big money hip-hop star would want his/her car done up in that chrome-like paint! For more on this topic, reply to my "Car Paint" thread at:

Good night (from where I'm from).

It would be good if there was an option in gt4 to turn off the car wash, it's just annoying having to click a button every so often to make your car clean again.

If you can turn it off, then wat's the point of it?

Photo-mode shot of a Tuscan, now I've seen plenty of these just as shiney IRL.

When my dad goes a bit mad with the wax his 330d is a lot more shiney than that, while my Celica mainly looks a dull green (thanks to its protective film of muck).

You want cars that look too shiney, just go to any motorshow, now those damn things are shiney beyond belief.

Ifthe photo-mode does ahve a variety of filter then just use a polarizing filter to increase or reduce the reflections, as you would with a camera. Those dark blue, clear seas you get in travel brochures arn't real you know; the wonders of a polarizing filter.

The actual paint finish does however seem to make a bigger difference in GT4 Prologue, with the 240ZG being less shiney that the more modern cars.

That's the point ... there is no point in having a car wash.

more rumours ...

It seems there's going to be a monthly loan payment to be done in GT4 to pay the cars you bought.

There will also be a yearly tax form to fill out where you can subtract the intrest you pay on those payments from your income from the races.

 ... too much reality isn't fun any more imho.

Why would you need to turn it off when you can just avoid it?

Cars arent too shiny in GT4, they are too shiny in Forza, Enthusia, and PGR2.

The cars in GT4 might be shiny, but it's OK because I prefer it this way instead of what I've seen in Forza screenshots, where the colors are dull :yuck: , It makes the cars look more lively. IMO.

See ya :sly:
