Exactly.

I prefer driving my car in it's original condition,If i want to have a livery i'll drive a race car.

GT5 in my eyes does not need a livery editor. This takes away the focus from racing, tuning and car collecting which this series was built on.

Making a car look more like a race car takes away from racing?
Fact is you don't care about a livery editor therefore your view of one is not valid to those who do as you clearly don't care about the other side of the argument.

First thing I'll do is buy a Fiat 500 8v 1.2 Lounge. Then I shall check out its' customization, be happy with it, earn some monies, buy a TVR and respray my Fiat 500 with the pearlescent colour from the TVR. That is all I need to be happy :')

Got a question: Why would PD choose not include the option to change wheels on standard cars? It makes no sense at all. I understand they have actually chosen to do this but why? Couldn't they anticipate how people would react to that kind of decision. I mean, this has been a, for me at least, one of the most affordalbe and most rewarding things you could do with a used old Nissan or whatever to make it feel just a little bit better, faster, etc.

I don't understand! Why?

yeah really, that makes no sense....

To those that don't like the idea of a livery editor it just seems that they don't understand the appeal of it to the other people. There is nothing that can be wrong from bringing the feature to the game. It allows people to express themselves through their creativity...its great, and allows for even greater "collecting" of cars like people say GT is about...

Is this really what the Gran Turismo series is about?no.

Like i said it's not needed.

You see Forza has this and it's great.I have no problem with this, but when two big franchises has the same thing in their game wouldn't it just feel the same, but just for a different system?

This is why it's not needed.

I'm sorry you don't like my opinion, but it's just that, an opinion.

That's your right to do so. But It would make the game more visually pleasing to see a livery editor and more body modifications. Some cars are better left alone and some aren't. Customizing cars is huge in all motor sports so don't knock it if you're not gonna use it. No ones forcing ya. This would have been a better addition than Nascar.

Hey, i like Nascar :p

Don't worry, Need for Speed Hot Pursuit is coming out around the same time and I think Forza's got an ultimate edition out so you can always put neons and spoilers in either of those games. You could even put some stickers so the cars look like they're going faster.

Seriously though, at least wait for the game to come out. We don't even know yet if that build you're referring to is the FINAL one.

Well Said

Edited as to not offend anyone.

Yeah what he said.... except about not having drag strips... That would be awesome. I would trade a drag strip for Nascar any day, and I live in the US! I like the track editor. It's the least they could due after that abortion of a track list. Also if you can make touge style courses it will be cool. But they could have just waited until gt6 and gave us more real and gt tracks.

That's cool... I don't hate it. It gets pretty intense going 3 wide at 170mph. But The time spent on that could have been used for better imo. And the Nascar content selection they are giving us looks lacking. If you're gonna add something like this at least go all out.

Honestly, I bet 80% of GT Fans would've settled for more tracks and the three TEST tracks in place of the track creator. What the hell is the point of creating your own quarter mile track when it won't even record the times for you?

Why does everyone it seems care about liveries. All I want is to repaint a car, hell cars about anything else. Don't need to see a Pepsi logo or any other stupid things on the cars. Sure race cars have liveries, but is it needed to add on to what are essentially road cars? No, I don't think so. Plus this isn't something you should be mad about. We never had that stuff to add. Should be more mad about the missing features, not getting livery editor.

No one is talking about a stupid pepsi logo here.

Well how about making you're own Ken Block's STI? it can be done easily in forza:

How about you're own drift car?

M3 GT4

GT5 has 1030 cars. Forza has undless amount of cars. Thats because you can make you're own car. Yet you're ideas of liveries and special designs can be shared, and sold. You can make alot of money just by selling liveries. Customizing cars in GT5 would've took the game to another hole level.

uh, yeah it is my friend. It's a racing simulation. And don't feed me any lines about how its more than that, or its about collecting cars, or celebrating the history of cars, that is just a GT fanboy's way of elevating the game and placing it on some sort of pedestal above other "sims" out there. At the end of the day the game is about beating the other cars on the track to the finish line. That is how you progress in the game is it not? Can you progress through the game without winning RACES?

Needed? of course not, we don't NEED anything. It is fine for that to be your opinion, but how on EARTH could it hurt the game to include it?....

Having a livery editor allows for SO many things other than just designing your car...

for instance...

With online gaming, you can setup racing leagues that race, say weekly. When setting up the league you can allow for certain restrictions on cars and modifications and such. Well, considering you're treating this as a RACING LEAGUE, race cars tend to have liveries. Now, say two members of the league want to run the same car, with a livery editor this is fine, as each race team can design their livery to their liking, with their choice of sponsorships and decals, and numbers. In this case, a livery editor adds IMMENSELY to the depth at which a driver can experience with their car. The race car is now YOURS and represents you...

It also allows you to represent cars that are not in the game to begin with...

for instance...

what could POSSIBLY be looked at as wrong, with being able to take existing cars and doing that to them with a livery editor??...

and then it allows you to create cars just for yourself...

like my take on the GT Academy Livery on a Viper ACR

The Fast and the Furious Supra...obviously not for everyone, but hey, its a movie car that i can "collect." I have all the cars from F&F1 in my garage in Forza

honestly i just can't see how being able to do this hurts a game in ANY way...

Thank you thank you for posting this. Now let's see how they react.

Credit where it's due for the Acura; that's a massive PITA to paint as the top layer is glitched.

Great posts Darkpitiless & Metfanant, way to silence the haters. 👍 You've both posted undeniable examples of what PD missed this cycle.

IMO what we see here while it may not cater to you, directly illustrates the market share PD will lose moving on from this cycle. The reason members are so up in arms is that these features that have become common in all racers SIM & otherwise are missing from our beloved GT5. When you wait six years for something you would never expect to lose progress. :ouch:

Hahaha i guess we gave them the shock of their life. They are speech less now.

Let's open a thread demanding more customization options through DLC. We need to put pressure on PD. it wouldn't take a month to develope one.

Forza's editor is EXTREMELY basic for what its capable of creating...i mean at the end of the day its basically just geometric shapes and basic editing tasks like (scale, skew, transparency etc...)

I just saw the wheel painting option with the Lancer Evo X. Even that is severely lacking! You are only given about 6-7 options of paint with no option to have customized colours. When I watched all those SEMA videos, Kaz said that they like to go to the event to try and see what the new trends are in the market. BUT do they actually write any of these down on paper and try to implement them in the game? From the looks of it, that's a big hell no.

Yeah, it's a bummer. Sooooooo.....I guess we're all done here.

Yeah good you brought that up. Forza's editor is extremely basic like you said it based on simple shapes. WIth scaling, skewing, transparencieing it becomes extremely good looking. It's all about imagination.

Heck, i didn't mean to get you guys so riled up.

I guess it's wrong for a game to have it's individuality.

I'm down with that. It's not blasphemy... It's personal choice that needs to be there. It's 2010!

Having an editor will give everyone a chance to have their own individuality expressed through the cars.;)

And thank you. It's 2010 guys. They need to improve the game now. We need livery editor as a DLC. It's not hard at all. Just demand it guys. It will give the game even 100X more value.

Geez, i hate having my words twisted around

Heck, i didn't mean to get you guys so riled up.

there is nothing about being riled up...just trying to make a point, with evidence to back it up instead of what most people do and just say "I DON'T LIKE FAST AND THE FURIOUS CARS!! THEY WILL RUIN MY GRAN TURISMO!"

I guess it's wrong for a game to have it's individuality.

come on now...That is a weak argument really. Not including a feature is not individuality, its as simple as not having a feature. If anything the livery editor allows for INFINITELY more individuality within the game itself. Do you really think that someone at PD said "nope, no livery editor, someone else already did it, we want to have our individuality?" come on...

I am honestly very interested in hearing your explain how allowing users to create any of the cars i posted screen shots of in ANY way hurt the experience that is Gran Turismo. Or, how by having this ability negatively effects YOUR experience playing Gran Turismo, considering you do not have to use this feature

Edit:

Also in regards to a livery editor and what it brings to the table...

NASCAR: Allows users to create any NASCAR driver's car that was not included in the game itself. Giving more options to those who like NASCAR

Formula 1: Even if the only F1 car we get is the F2007 from Ferrari, a livery editor would allow that car to at the very least be painted to replicate other teams that do exist. I know it would kinda suck to drive a Ferrari painted like a Mercedes, or Williams, or whatever team, but its still better than a grid full of the same red Ferrari no?

X1: Would allow us to have online leagues of X1 cars. Instead of them all being the Red Bull livery we could paint them however we want, even replicating the F1 liveries to make a "Ferrari X1"

LeMans cars: Very often teams run multiple cars in races with slightly different liveries (at the very least numbers). Very often multiple teams run the same cars. For instance the Team Oreca Viper that PD puts in Gran Turismo. It would allow you to create all the different liveries Oreca used on their Vipers over the years, as well as all the other teams that ran Vipers over the years, expanding the car roster by uncountable numbers...
