I thought that in real life, adding a catalytic converter reduces power, since it is an restriction of exhaust flow?

But maybe the latest developments in cat coverters have changed this?

At least it is odd to have a big ingcrease in power through this... maybe it's more a case of replacing a crap cat converter with a more efficient one.

But in that case there shouldnt be a power increase for older cars that never had one installed in the first place.

A high flow catalytic converter affects both power and torque in real life. Most notable with turbo charged engines. Might be interesting for testing.

It's a sports, or "high flow" cat that frees up the exhaust.

You right about old cars, much like the ECU it shouldn't be an option really, but meh. They could have taken the time to replace the option's text and image with something applicable, but they didn't. Just imagine some similar upgrade.

I think the Air Filter is. 450 credits. And depending on the car, the power gain beats out most of the other "bolt-on" parts. lol

The Sports Air Filter (450cr) and Catilytic converter (500cr) are my 1k tune kit.

yea, they usually do add a little more power when you remove them (plus a grumpier sound) but idk. i guess they make some that are made to increase power.

BUT

on the game i spent 500 cr on it and got like 20 - 50hp out of all my cars! wahooo!

On some you only get 4 -5hp though. The small powerless cars that is.
