Would anyone in the central Florida area be interested in a Lan party?

Only if it's at Charles's house.

In about a month's time I'm going to be in Reddick, FL. It's right in between Ocala and Gainesville.

I'd be interested, just depends on when and where.

Damn, one I could go to and he leaves.

Either there, or in Palatka, depends.

Just because he started the thread doesn't mean he has to do it. Someone else could organize it.

As long as it's not in the direct Orlando area i'd be willing to go. I'd like to keep my wallet, and my life.

It will really depend on time though, I'll be quite busy with school coming up pretty soon. Well that and if my parents would actually let me go

Didn't think of that

Same here.

If you end up going to Palatka, send me a PM. I'm really close to there. We could meet up. 👍

Will do.👍

I was just wondering if anybody around Oviedo/Orlando played this game. I thought I was the only one.

Is anybody still in?

I still want to do it but it would have to be scheduled when we all have time. I was thinking either around Christmas, during spring break, or even next summer. I would say thanksgiving but thanks to Fay my school has to make up 3 days of school that week.

Right now the plan for me is that around the 13th-15th is when I'll be making the actual move down. And I've found out that I'm definitely going to be moving to Reddick, but I'll be spending a lot of time in Ocala where my job is at. I have no idea if I'll have any major things I have to do in the future so right now just about anytime is good for me.

One thing I've been thinking about is where would we hold it? Didn't UKGTP rent out some building to do it in? And this year both UKGTP and SFGTP are both being held in someone's house now.

And I think it would be nice to do some other stuff too. I don't think any of us in this thread are of legal drinking age so just hanging in a bar/pub wouldn't work. Maybe if there was a karting track near by or a bowling alley, something so we don't get burnt out on GT4. But that would mean it would cost money to come which probably seems like a turn off for most people.

Thoughts?

We could rent one of those big meeting rooms in a hotel. I don't know how expensive it would be to rent it for a while, but I wouldn't mind pitching in to rent one then just sleeping there. That way if anyone would also want a hotel room, it would be right there.

May I suggest having it near a drag strip. It's always fun to go to a drag strip (at least for me) and I could possibly race CDailey :sly:. The only one that I know of is in Gainsville though, which could be a problem for any southern Floridians. Bowling is always a possibility, and I wouldn't doubt that they have go-karts somewhere in Gainsville. I don't know the state too well so I'd definately like to see some of the real Floridian's Ideas.

Yeah, legal drinking age is still a few (5) years off.

Well if this is a GTP and a GTP Drag party, then we gotta wait 'till I get a car!

There are a few of go kart tracks I see around my area (Manatee County), one just right in town (Search: Pirates Cove)

Past that, there ain't much here 'sides the beach. Which means we need some female counterparts that like GT4

Well don't mean to be weird but I am of legal drinking age lol.

I live near UCF east of Orlando. There is everything you mentioned. Drag strip 30 minutes away (wouldn't mind racing my WRX), two huge bowling alleys 15 minutes away, and there are numerous go kart tracks 30-40 minutes away near Universal Studios and Disney. As far as a location goes I don't know. I don't really have space at my place.

Hotel sounds like a good idea, guess it just depends on cost.

We rented a function room in a pub.

You think they'd rent out there room to a handful of guys for the weekend? It'd be worth finding out, but I'm thinking that would be cost more than what we'd wanna pay.

And the drag strips would be a good extra thing for us to do. I know Gainesville is probably one of the largest in the area but I'm sure we could find another, possibly smaller one that was closer. The main thing is we need to do cheap stuff so people won't be turned off by the price.

Hitting the beach sounds cool too, as long as it isn't too long a drive for anyone to handle.

Oh, that would almost work better than using a hotel's place. It would probably be alot cheaper, and probably wouldn't have as strict of rules and what not.

Whoops, sorry about that.

So your area seems to have quite a bit of stuff we could do, nothing is too far off, except for maybe the beach. It's not too far from where I'll be, about an hour to hour 1/2 it looks. It is kinda close to Orlando and from what I've heard it isn't the best city so that may put people off to having it in your area.

You may have missed my last post because it was on the last page.

That sounds good and would be close by (I'm in Eustis if I haven't said that already), but Orlando is kinda sketchy for me, especially with my car. I'd be super paranoid.

Why is everyone so paranoid of Orlando? I'm not talking downtown Orlando, I mean east east east orlando, Oviedo basically. It's just a bunch of family neighborhoods with shopping centers and a publix every 2 miles.

Anyway I don't really care either way. I just wanna play the game with some real people instead of the stupid AI.

There is a place called Hard Knocks Orlando just across the street from me that is a LAN gaming center. I'll shoot them and email and see what they have to offer.

Well unfortunately they don't allow you to bring your own equipment or anything, and last time I was in there they didn't have an racing games going or any wheel and pedal set ups.

Somebody must have an idea of where we can have this event. That or figure out how to hack our network adapters to run over the internet.

Why is everyone so paranoid of Orlando?

Because Orlando and some of the areas around it are notorious for murder and theft. There are streets even in my area that i've been told never to drive down if I value my life.

I'm paranoid because I'm sure the hoodlums would have a field day picking the emblems and such off of my car. I don't even leave my car outside my own house.

Not in the UCF area. Look up Oviedo and then compare it to your town I assure you it's not that bad. To my knowledge there aren't alot of college students running around plucking emblems off cars.

Yes I'm sure downtown has it's bad parts but I'm talking 30-40 minutes away from down town.

From what I've seen Orlando seems to be the central point for everyone. I mean every road leads here.

Again I don't care where we have it as long as it happens. I respect your classic car, and I understand your concern for it, I have a 86 Mustang I'm restoring my self.

I just don't understand why people think Orlando has a bad reputation, I've lived here for 7 years and never feared for my life, or my car.

Does anybody have any other location ideas?

Probably the best strip in the state is Bradenton (45 minutes from Tampa).

So far here is what we have as far as location of potential drivers.

NE Florida
CDaily

Reddick
Loon

N/A
mustangGT90210

Eustis
Diablo

Tampa
Troux

Oviedo
jag302ci

That looks like this on google maps Click to see map

I don't think Bradenton is very central, but I do agree very nice track.

Looks like Bushnell, Leesburg, Wildwood would be central. I don't know anything about those places.
