CES Motortrend Yamauchi Interview Posted

With all the people that have been asking about them for so long, I think thats just the japanese translation for "**** YOU, GT is about simulation, not skidmarks"

I found the update at the end most interesting. According to their source, the delay was due to "further testing and development". This doesn't sound anywhere near as dramatic as "major production issues". Time will tell I guess.

You must have missed the part where they are skipping the developement for skidmarks, but have done further testing on how the trees look on the track while racing. So that was the reason for the delay. :dopey:

Who cares about reverse lights and skidmarks. The idea of Gran Turismo is to go forwards more often than you drive backwards. and in real life you'd be inside the car while driving it so you're not going to see skidmarks or reverse lights anyway.

Think of those things as tinsel, little things that don't really matter. and besides, when this game is out and you're playing it I bet none of you will care if it has skid marks or reverse lights or not.

Could be the first DLC, but I'm sure they won't stop even if the game is ready to be released.
Why would they be a DLC? This game is still months away from being released; I think there's plenty of time to add those cars to the game. ;)

Yea, HSV-GT and LFA are cars we have all been hoping would make it in and now we have confirmation. That's cool that they are still adding cars up until the last minute.

+1

I think a lot of us suspected the LFA would be in, and to hear they're working on the HSV-010 GT is exactly what I wanted to hear!

What are some of the features your most excited about releasing to the public?

With GT5, we're striving to redefine the racing game that we started with GT1. The game as a whole is completely new. But online functionality has to be at the top. We've worked so hard on it and we're hoping it's a hit.

This is one area where I hope GT5 really shines.

Finally a decent interview. His answers really make you wonder: Is he not disclosing anything so that it will be more of a surprise/Sony marketing, or to keep others from beginning work on DLC/patches for their games.

His answers create further speculation and confusion. If the track editor, in any shape and form wasn't included, why wouldn't he just say so?

When he answers ... "just wait and see" that means it won't be there.
And why doesn't anybody ask about the livery editor?

YAY, at last a picture of the interior of a race car. GTR Super GT I think. Looks great.

This one I mean:

You see less of the roof! That's a good thing. And side mirror is visible, unlike in the Time Trial.
So field of view seems wider than the Time Trial - which should enhance feeling of speed

Like the new Hondas, the CR-Z and HSV-GT.

We're working on both cars right now, actually. The LFA too. There are plenty of cars being built as we speak.

Is this the Lexus LFA that he mentioned? The fastest and most powerful Japanese car Japan has ever produce. I hope yes.

By the way it took them 6 years and a lot of delay and still no Porsche and no skid marks and trees look like card board. Come one, maybe I'm asking to much but , 6 years? It should be perfect on all angles.

PD can only push the Playstation so far, you can't expect everything to be of the highest possible quality. And we all know the situation with Porsche.

I'll give you 6 years starting today, to make a game better than GT5 with all it's features and numbers including all those things you've mentioned. When you've finished, then I'll take your comment into account.

Point is : If you think you can do it better.. go ahead.

Work hard for 6 years a lot of OT and not just strolling around the world driving cars and racing. About LFA, is this the car he mentioned? LFA is the most powerful and expensive car Japan ever produce.

yoga, just stay quiet. You don't actually think he made the whole game by himself do you?

But 6 years for a racing game, and still not 100% perfect because of lack of Porche, skid marks, and cardboard looking trees. Its just me but it is still frustrating for waiting and waiting and when i already plan to import the japanese version , they will delay it to stop those in NA and EU to import the game.

And okay we cannot do anything about it anymore but please I hope they will not make the launch on Fall or worse December 2010. That is so painful and honestly a lot of gamers will lose interest because of pissed on waiting, or they bought other games, or there are newer trends or better games by that time.

By the way since it took them six year maybe they can add 3D features. I'm happy about LFA will be in the game. This car is historic since it is the first time Japan made the most powerful car in there history of manufacturing cars. And it is the most expensive Japanese car ever produce. i just hope they have all the version, from racing version, top down to the Hybrid version.

Can we stop with the cardboard trees thing already? I'm playing a RACING game, not a logging simulator.

You act like your life depends on the release of this game. Chiiillllllllll.

6 years so attention to details is import, i was also hoping for wind effects or wind affects cars aerodynamic or dust flying.

Doesn't sound like you are looking to play a RACING game with all of those wants you have there. :yuck:

Since this is GT and this is Ps3, i m expecting a real driving sim were the environmental effect on cars is also realistic. Wind effect, and water will affect the speed and handling, or debris, that is what i expect from a GT game which is made for almost 6 years.

As if the PS3 has enough processing power to add those features

I'm hoping our players won't be caught up with minor details. If they pick at every little thing, nobody will be satisfied. It's the overall evolution that will impress. Skidmarks should be of no concern. (He says with a laugh).

I think your missing the point of the game.. yoga
