how can i do this, ive looked everywhere, is it even possible?

I don't think it's possible. Then again, I haven't looked in ages.

Just stay with mm/dd/year, I'm used to it after more than four years.

I've always been able to adapt well to that. I don't think it's even a feature in vB3. I already opted for Southern Hemisphere DST Settings, but Jordan asked the guys over at vBulletin, and they explained it would be very difficult.

I'd wait for Jordan's response to this anyhow.

Southern Hemisphere DST Settings wouldn't make any difference, would they? The day, month, year etc is still the same even if you're int he northern hemisphere...

Why doesn't vBulletin use a universal date, like:

25 Dec, 2004

...or something. Forums attract users from across the globe, and not all follow the mm/dd/yy (or dd/mm/yy or whatever it is).

I set the date format to whatever I want. I had always preferred our current format because it takes up less space - completely forgetting about international visitors. :dunce: I'll change it to something a bit more accessable for everyone.

You know, international uses aren't dunces, I'm sure we can work out that the first number is the month, the second number the day, etc, etc.

I was implying that I was the dunce, not international visitors.

Oh, no, I didn't mean that. I meant that I'm sure we from other countries can work out what the date means.

Edit: You're anything but a dunce mate, I don't know how to thank you enough for starting GTPlanet.

Is there a way to thank you enough?

Nope. When we set our clocks backwards, they set it forwards, and vice versa. So in order to change our time for Daylight Savings, we have to change the actual time, instead of having it automatically set DST for us.

It's not too annoying, but it would be nice to not have to worry. But that's over and done with.

Jordan -- Would there be any way to include it in the settings so that we could change the Date Format to however we would like it?

Thanks a lot Jordan :),
If its not to much trouble otherwise us Aussies (and other countries) will just get used to the USA date format. :)

Lets not forget that you crazy Aussies have the cricket score format the wrong way. You guys say two for a hundred, when every other nation (besides NZ of course) say a hundred for two.

I would write Richie Benaud a nasty letter, but I'm lazy.

But i agree with the above date format ;)

OK everyone, take a look at our new date format. It's messy, but if that's what you guys really really love then we'll keep it.

No, I'm afraid not.

Brillant, Thanks a lot Jordan, not only did you fix the problem but you fixed it in like 2 days,
You do such a great job here, keeping these forums running smoothly. kudos to you mate 👍

Where is this different date format? I don't see any differences on the dates the threads last had a post in, and at the bottom of the page all it says is All times are GMT -6. The time now is 9:04 PM.

At the top of each individual's post, it used to have, for example: "NEW! Today, 6:15 PM", "Yesterday, 9:33 PM" or "12/08/04, 9:53 PM". Now Jordan has changed the latter to "Dec 08 2004, 9:53 PM" to comply with universal date format.

It looks much better than expected, Jordan. 👍

Looks much better now J. 👍

I don't follow cricket anyway. :p

No, but for Feb 4th 2005 we'd say 04/02/05, whereas in the US it would be 02/04/05, you can see how there could bne slight confusion.
