Should the Gold times for the Vettel Challenges be increased?

I could finally keep the car on the tarmac after the update, but still, my hands are too big, and responding not fast enough to the signals from my brain to get anywhere near silver..

So I bought an DFGT. I want Gold!

Lol. If there was a like button i would be hitting it here.

With that attitude of yours, you´ll get it my friend 👍 See you in the prototype owners club :)

I couldn't even bronze for easiest track Monza after update,
I have tried for 1 hour and give up, can't even finish one lap without being disqualify,
It' too hard too handle this car, I have tried different driving option, the car just oversteer or understeer easily, I call this challenge is bs

No drama, but is the challenge bs or do your driving skills need improvement? Other people seem to get bronze without too much trouble.

In my opinion bronze was pretty easy. Silver is hard, and gold is near impossible. This is the way it should stay.

Bronze is a joke now that they've upped the times, however it's how it should be.

I golded all 3 with DS3 with these settings

monza- ABS10,SRF[on],steering sensitivity [7] cut chicanes :sly:
Nurburg-ABS7,SRF[on],steering sensitivity[7] dont cut chicane
Suzuka-ABS3,SKR[on],steering sensitivity[7] take degner flat out

I'm now trying to gold Nurburgring. Already got silver, but that 🤬 chicane and the last turn make me :banghead:. Gold on Monza was not hard:), thanks to the chicane cutting of course. Suzuka still in bronze, sounds really dificult:scared:
My dear DS3, C'MON!!!

If someone tells you "anyone can do it with practice" it's a big fat lie. I've allready given Nurbugring over 100 hours of gameplay and I can't finish two laps. So I've come to a conclusion that all these people that say "anyone can do it" are lieing. People there are limits to natural skills. Don't go giving others false hope.

Noo its you give up before it already started, for the nurburgring it took me less than 1h to get gold, and suzuka 3hours
I know that i can do it beacause of new steering sensivity....

keep practicing

Toyota - practice makes perfect
if you want it (gold) you will get it if you really want, but if u think i do 2 laps and that will be it then your wrong

keep traning - no one did it from first try

My DFGT brought me to 0.2 off gold on Nurburg, and just over a second on Suzuka, with a second lap of 1.04.6, but for some reason I just can't get a first lap in the 1.05's .

It is time for a youtube searching and watching spree. And a pile of Red Bull cans.

Have you turned Force Feedback off for the DFGT?...helped alot when I did the challenges, especially suzuka. I did a 1.05.8xx first lap and somehow a sub 1.04 for the second  , I used the following settings..

abs@10
tcs off
skid recovery on
brakes 10/10

Yep, I had to turn it off, otherwise my arms get numb after an hour torturing myself with the Esses.

Abs 1
Tcs off
Skid rec on
Brakes untouched, since there was no noticable difference in my times with any setting.

Btw, Did anybody use the steering aid? And golded with it? It seems to make it easier, but also slower.

@Alex1369 - Oh trust me, over 80 hours of gameplay is hardly "trying it before starting it". When you try something for over 80 hours an see little to no progress after hour 50 or so, it's time to call it quits. And btw golding nurburgring in 1 hour is impossible with a controller. People stop saying, "you can do it, because I did it" that is not a valid excuse. What if you are naturally better than me? There probably are things I can do that some of you will never do exactly alike. We are all different and have different skill sets, some of which are dimensions apart and no amount of practice will lessen said gap. The reason I vote and believe that the times for gold should be increased is for players like us that like racing but are not racing enthusiasts like some of the people here. Denying content for software you payed for is not a very smart move, since there are a lot of ds3 users like me. I'm sure the "It has to be a challenge" excuse will arise, but let me tell you, even with 2 seconds added to gold times the challenge is still a very tough challenge. But the times right now have it near impossible for controller users. The fact that you guys are better than me will not change if the gold times changes. There is no reason one person should be over 80 hours trying to gold a challenge to no avail and injuring his right wrist in the process. Some of us will never be able to achieve gold, period. My advice to all of you that will try, is to leave the challenge as the very very last thing you do, hence, if you never get gold (like me) at least you enjoyed the rest of the game.

Sorry mate but i golded it with DS3 - thats all i know
Sorry then if you can do it.... then you can hope they will change then trophy times in some patch but i think they wont....

So keep trying if u want to... enyoy

Well I understand. There are events I can't get gold on either. I still don't want times changed. If everyone gets a gold then a gold medal doesn't mean anything. What's the point of a medal system?

Thanks for understanding and having a realistic reply. I was getting tired of seeing people just saying "anyone can do it if they practice enough". Such comments just made my failures seem more devastating. Thing is that I believe that even if changing the gold times seems to eliminate the meaning of getting "gold" you have to understand one thing. Just because I didn't get gold doesn't mean I didn't work as hard as someone that did get gold. Remember I've tried for over 80 hours to get gold without success, what if someone had just more natural talent than me and got gold within 10 hours? Whom worked harder? Trust me, even if the gold times get changed, your superior lap times are evidence enough of superior skills.

@alex1369 Apology accepted. But I do say just because you are good enough to gold it doesn't prove everyone can. Also, I really need to stop trying because I noticed that I indeed hit a wall and am not getting any better... in fact I'm actually getting worse. In Nurburgring my fastest first lap was 1:03.9, after said lap happened, I started getting worse and worse, now my lap times are back to 1:05.5. I believe it could mostly be related to the wrist pain or maybe I just hit my peak and started regressing, I really don't know why my lap times got slower.

I don't know how you guys have your ds3 configuration, but mine is the default one (x for throttle, [] for brakes, L2/R2 shifting, etc). I don't know if it's because the controller is small or something, but ever since the 1:03.9 lap time I've gotten increased pain on my right wrist.

The challenge is just not well concepted. This is proved by the fact that almost nobody golded this challenge with a DS3 before patch. And the challenge was made before the patch, so if a wheel was required to win it this only means one thing: FAIL:grumpy:. With the new option for controllers, the gold is a reality, but the times are not correct from the beggining. That's why there is somethimg called "test" before the release of a videogame.

I've Golded all three ages ago, so don't really mind.
What I do care about isd the 8C in the Eiger Nordwand challenge...
Wouldn't mind having that be a bit easier :D

Actually, even though I would love it if PD makes it easier, I think the gold times are based on Vettel's actual lap times, aren't they?

Sebastian Vettel's time at Nurburgring was something like 1:04:8xx if I remember correctly from X1 intro video... which means Gold is easy. But times are harder than his times.

It took me *years* to get halfway decent at the GT series because I didn't "get" it for a long time coming from a background of arcade racers (Ridge Racer, I'm looking at you). Plus, there are games that some will just be better at than others. If you know you worked hard just be proud of your accomplishment. Sebastian Vettel doesn't sit at his TV and play GT5 so get outside yourself and do stuff. Keeps GT5 from killing you with frustration. It's just pixels!

Don't forget the best baseball team in the world still loses 1/3 of its games. And that's a *good* season.

I laid off of GT series for days and was much better after. As just about everyone will tell you, you have to take a break sometimes and come back fresh later. Racing is also a mental game even in real life.

No, it's the only challenge in the game, except the Murcielago event in Grand Tour. Alfa 8C @ Eiger isn't hard after you get used to the handling.

Maybe make the silver times easier, but not the golds.
And no, I haven't got gold on them except the Monza, which is easy enough. If the times are ever to be increased, they should be at the same difficulty as Monza is currently. Not any easier than that.

But I'd prefer them staying the same. Not saying they are easy, but they shouldn't be increased.

I spent an hour on it and only improved my times by 0.1.
So PB is now 17.8 :(
I gave up...
Tips?
Aids?
Wheel or DS3?

DS3
Everything off
Manual
At the first corners try to drift a bit and use the HB to turn the car's nose in, keep your line as close as possible and try to have a good exit from the 1st S to the second and from the 2nd S to the bridge, so you can pick up speed for that short straight before the right hand corner.
To the right hand corner before the tunnel and to the right corner before finish use 3rd Gear.

Good Luck!

My Question is : Has anyone been able to get Gold with the DPad...
I gave it a crack as i dont have a wheel & though it is impossible ?

I agree... Keep them as they are, this way only the Elite will get the Gold.
(Which i am way off lol)

I am using a DS3 and tried when I first hit 30 b-spec (was about 17 a-spec) And laughed for hours at Monza after getting 10 seconds in and slamming into the chicane... Gave up on it.

Went back last night... Level 31 a-spec... And bronzed them all! Sure it took me like 6 hours to do it, but I still did it. I was lucky enough to have a friend give me an x10 before the patch so I practiced as much as I could with that car. What helped me the most? I went to each track and practiced, but the key was limiting the power.... First I tried it at 50% so many times until I got comfortable with the track and that car... Then I upped it to 75% and did that many many times until I could get around the track with close enough times to bronze.... After doing that... The full strength car didn't seem as crazy to me!

For any struggling with this, add me and use the x10 that I have shared.... Use it to practice with... Doesn't do any good to use the actual challenge to practice with IMO, for me I get to wrapped up in the time and don't pay enough attention to learning the car and track! Sure you can know a track like the back of your hand, but when you get behind the wheel of the x10 EVERYTHING about the track is different.

Just my things on it... Don't change the times.
