1 month ban? Joke right? Life time ban for this. This MFer almost got all of my DTM cars for an X1 that he probably doesn't have, and he wanted me to send my 5 DTMs first, LOL. I'm glad I thought it through and told this dude to F himself. Shweeew

Thumbs down to the moderators here... If you want to offer a descent marketplace for your members to access, protect them to the best of your ability. As a mod, you may not be able to ban them from PSN, but you sure can ban them from your site. But I guess he provides a few more ad clicks, so how about just a month. It's funny how I got a PM with a warning for writing "bump" in one of my threads. Rigxs blatantly used this site to steal cars from others, seems to me it was the only reason he was on this site (he tried many times). I'm not even sure he hasn't registered a new name to continue his efforts. Sad, and you really lost a lot of respect from me, and I'm sure many others, with this move.

Lastly, you can ban me to from this site for my comments, too. I'm sure you would give me a permanent ban, however since the negativity is directed at you.

First off; I suppose people just skimmed over the (EDIT) portion of my post. Selective reading won't help your argument.

We don't have to offer a Marketplace; we do it to contain the sprawl from seeping into the rest of the board. We also have a very, very easy way of finding out if people re-register here; scammers are likely to attempt it, so at least personally, I check ones I know of for a few days after the original ban. The one month ban was a first response when only a portion of Rig's scamming was known. Hence the edit; after finding out more, it was made far longer (permanent). The one month was an offer for a member to reform (again, before knowing the entire situation); however, Rigs made it very, very clear that wasn't part of his plan, so frankly, we don't want him here.

Lastly, we respond to these kinds of things as quick as we can. What might help is if people decide to take the proper route by reporting a post instead of posting in the thread.

Allow me to elaborate on what SlipZtrEm has said. I'm pretty sure that I'm the moderator who has been getting the most reports of bad trades since I have had close to thirty.
If you want to offer a descent marketplace for your members to access, protect them to the best of your ability.
We already do protect them as best we can. A lot of the stuff we do is behind closed doors, but it does happen.

As a mod, you may not be able to ban them from PSN, but you sure can ban them from your site.
We can, and we do. However, we cannot simply ban them because you claim they are ripping you off. We need to investigate, and these things take time. If you look at this thread, you will see the due process involved for properly reporting bad trades. We do not simply react by hitting the ban button - we need to work out what happened first, and then decide on the appropriate course of action. Even then, we have only banned three members for ripping people off because we do not have enough evidence in the other cases. Your say-so is not good enough - we need detailed proof that they have been using the forums to defraud people.

But I guess he provides a few more ad clicks, so how about just a month. It's funny how I got a PM with a warning for writing "bump" in one of my threads.
You received that warning because your post was in violation of the forum rules. "Bump" posts add nothing to a discussion other than to draw attention to a thread, and if we allowed it, then this entire subforum would degenerate into a race to see who can "bump" their posts the most to keep them at the top of the queue, which means anarchy will reign. Don't think that just because there are wider issues out there, you may make smaller violations of the AUP. You can't - if you do, you will be held accountable.

Rigxs blatantly used this site to steal cars from others, seems to me it was the only reason he was on this site (he tried many times).
And he has been dealt with accordingly.

I'm not even sure he hasn't registered a new name to continue his efforts. Sad, and you really lost a lot of respect from me, and I'm sure many others, with this move.
You're not sure - but we are. The moderators have a lot of extra little tools that the average user doesn't, tools which are specifically designed to catch out this kind of behaviour. If and when Rigxs shows up again, you can rest assured that we will be there to counter him.

Lastly, you can ban me to from this site for my comments, too. I'm sure you would give me a permanent ban, however since the negativity is directed at you.
We do not ban people because they disagree with us. We ban people because they continually violate the rules of the forum. You have every right to question the activity of the moderators, and we will reply in kind with detailed justification of our actions, provided that you do so in accordance with the AUP. We are not a bunch of thugs and bullies running around with superpowers - we are charged with maintaining order and stability in the forums, and we do so accordingly.

Rigxs has been given a ban for one month (and any other account he may try to create during that time). To all other users, please avoid trying to contact him further.

(EDIT) That may or may not actually be much longer now.

Nothing in the above statment notes the member being permanently banned. The term "one month" was used, and the edit is as vague as can be.

Outside of that however, I applaud and thank you both for your responses. It is in my opinion that the matter was resolved as quickly and civil as could be. With that being said, you wouldn't have a Chapparall 2J you could send me for free, would you? :sly:

Thanks again guys.

But I guess he provides a few more ad clicks, so how about just a month.

If revenue were all that mattered, we wouldn't even moderate this site. We'd allow flame-fests to fester for months (flame-fests generate a ton of page-views), we'd allow all and nilly to register and post text-speak nonsense, instead of earning the ire of thirteen year olds everywhere as being Grammar Nazis, and we'd allow fights to fester instead of deleting inflammatory posts left and right and trying to keep things civil.

GTPlanet is first and foremost a community. And we do our best to protect our neighbors. We can't do much as police if we don't receive reports of crimes in a timely manner. Which is why we ask that victims of scams report the scammers via PM, so we can catch them and boot them as soon as possible.

Lastly, you can ban me to from this site for my comments, too. I'm sure you would give me a permanent ban, however since the negativity is directed at you.

Honest criticism without expletives isn't against the AUP. But while I feel for you guys, all of these things have to follow due process, just like in real life. Otherwise, even the innocent can be punished if accused by the scammers of fraud... and yes, some scammers have tried that themselves to cover their backs.

Thank you.

EDIT:
EDIT: And if you're willing to send me a free copy of GT5, I'm more than willing to grind a few million bucks to get you that Chapparal. :D

This is funny actually, if you thought anyone would trade a FGT for something like a 2j you probably deserve to be scammed.. maybe a little bit. However, it is a very lame thing to do. Moral of the story "If something sounds to good to be true, it probably is." I remember a time I worded a post wrong and my inbox was full and I had about 30 friend invites in about 10 minutes with 2j offers.

A PM was sent to interludes within 5 minutes of the corrupt transaction, with all emails between Rigxy and I also forwarded to interludes. My post within the thread itself came after the PM was sent to interludes.
