My apologies if this has been discussed before. How or when do you know when it is a good time to restore the chassis rigidity?

Im still working on this. Trust me once I have a definite answer It will be posted here.

I had a theory that it was after 600miles because my Bob couldnt keep the car on the track. However after a few terrible races he seemed to recover his Mojo and went back to his usual lap times. At the moment the test car has nearly 2000 miles on the clock. It hasnt had an oil change yet, the oil light isnt on yet, the oil has "looked dirty" since 500 miles. It hasnt had a Rigidity upgrade yet and BOB still looks pretty consistent.

About all I managed to work out in the Maintenance section is that. Oil Gets dirty at 500miles. When power is down an oil change will give a maximum of 5% increase. An Engine rebuild will give a maximum of 10% increase.

Ok thats interesting. What about cars you buy with 100000+ miles on them? Can you justify a chassis restoration on those?

I can tell you one thing.

When my Corvette ZR1 RM was at about 4500 miles it had lost hp and an oil change couldn't bring it back up (max was 905, at this point it maxed at like 890 no matter what I did).

So I did an engine rebuild to remedy this and figured I'd do the chassis rebuild at the same time.

And to tell you the truth, I didn't notice any real noticeable difference from the chassis rebuild. From now on, my rule of thumb is that unless the car isn't handling the way I want, I'm just gonna leave it.

Ignorance is bliss after all. :)

To be honest i don`t think chassis restoration does anything. It looks to me like they had plans with that car wash feature and chassis restoration along with the damage model.

But as it stands now i`d say it`s left to your imagination those 2 features have any affect.

I gather it's a matter of when your car's handling is noticably 'off', it's time to rebuild the chassis.
An indicator would be nice though.

Perhaps it's something that was never fully implemented..

There should be a whole separate thread about car maintenence in my opinion. Obviously oil changes and engine overhauls make a difference, but the other subjects are still debateable.
