I dunno why De la Rosa is being so underrated. He's far better than other drivers on the grid, like Sato, Pizzonia, Villeneuve, Klien (far, far from Klien) and the list goes on. He drove with Minardi & Jaguar in the past, but it doesn't count...

Not really, though it does remind me of Opera Paris in GT4; no flow or rhythm at all. What is the point of those 270 degree corners?

Damn, the race will be at 4 AM here.... I´ll try to watch the qualifying tonight at 2 AM to see how it goes.
 
i'm sorry for being misinformed. i found out about the equater thing earlier though. darn american schools lying to me.

the track is made to look like a chinese symbol of something. they speed tv commentators were talking about it briefly last night. i actually like this track. then again i like malaysia and bahrain as well.

Nope, De La Rosa never drove for Minardi. In 1999 he started his career in an Arrows and immediately scored points in Australia. Marc Gene indeed scored points on the Nurburgring in the Minardi, but he was only 6th that day.
 
as usual I stroll into this thread when it's already four pages long :grumpy: Anyway, de la Rosa is good, but as a test driver, as fast as we've known. Remember he completely sucked at Jaguar. Besides, Massa did well as a test driver, but not so good as a starting one, same with Anthony Davidson and Ricardo Zonta.

Anyway, I'm hoping (as usual) for McMerc.
 
Personally I like de la Rosa, but I think Wurz is the better race driver. I would put Wurz in a race seat before I’d put de la Rosa in one.

Anyone seen asphalt racer on Ninetendo DS? I looked on the back of the box today and i quote "tracks inspired on real locations" and in a screenshot, hes drifting round a turn, but the track map is identical to the shanghai circuit..
 
cant say i've heard of that game.

i think both drivers would make great guys to put in a second car.
 
Looks like Webber has got some pace back in him again, best of the rest behind the renaults and Mclarens :cheers:

the symbol is chiang or however you spell it and means high up i think.
 
hmmmmm, quali is on soon. I reckon that the grid will be:

Kind of sucks that JPM has to go out first....
 
hes going out second actually. it wont make that big a deal though i think. hes a good driver in a great car.

I sure hope nobody from Renault or McLaren crash on the first lap. It should be a good battle for the Constructor's with Renault's new engines.
 
Wow, P1 and P2 for Renault. Plus, JPM and Kimi saying they're having problems with their car. PLUS, Alonso saying Renault did not tap into all the power of the engine for qualifying but will for the race. Wow! Looks good for Renault!

Maybe, McLaren are running full racing fuel loads for a one pit stop strategy?
 
they probably are. what i'm a bit ticked off about is the 13 places between button and sato. sato fust have a huge fuel load or hes in a great deal of trouble. come on how can you get beat in quali by a jordan.

button did pretty good though for being sick. possibly food poisoning. i'll be rooting for him and rubens.

albers is clearly running no wing as his 334.1kph is 4th fastest of the day.
 
Another in the long list of Sato finagles. And Jenson made a mistake on that lap, too...

Extremely quick for Kimi, especially with the fuel load. He could end up winning this race, but if JPM doesn't step it up, they may still lose the manufacturer's trophy.
 
it looked like a pretty good lap from button. where was the mistake?
 
This could actually turn out to be a stunner of a race, as long as JPM gets ahead of button quickly it will be game on. I still reckon that out of the four fast cars one of them isnt going to get to the checkered flag, hopefully it wont be a Mclaren.....

Basically the constructors is going to come down to the "team mates", I think that Kimi will win it and Alonso will be second. in Japan he showed us all how much of a racer he is now that he has won the drivers championship. As for JPM, this is the race where you must perform and try and keep up with kimi.

Also, Alonso is running slightly lighter because there is no way he is .4 seconds faster than kimi over one lap, no way. Button is also running light (as usual) and even if he does get a chance to get on the podium, he will mess it up anyway.
 
actually there is a way hes faster then kimi. kimi didnt have the best lap. he made some small mistakes. both mclarens didnt look as good as they normaly do. alonso had a pretty good lap. i dont think button is running all that light either. hes looking pretty good. if he can keep the pace up in the race and not kill his tyres he should do pretty well.


on a side note, are there any other sites that offer free newsletters? i get them from formulaone.com but i was hoping for maybe something more personal.

rofl, if you look how much faster he is than Minardi and Monteiro, he will be in the pits within 3 laps... just like Monteiro did some races ago (ok, that was even lap 1)

Other remarkeble thing is how Coulthard qualified. 7th in the Red Bull, that's very nice (although he won't be very heavy, but still...)
