actually he could have passed him as it was not the formation lap. it was ms's fault for sliding left into the minardis line.

sato had a great start and its really to bad they had to penalize him. other then jumping the start by a little bit he passed a lot before he served his drive through. hes not a bad driver when he doesnt make mistakes. i hope hes still in f1 next year.

The commentator here, David Hobbs said Albers was not allowed to pass, therefor he's at fault.

Alonso just radioed in that he has too much front wing, so he's not reaching as high as a top speed as he wants to. He's about 18 seconds ahead of Kimi, but needs to be at a greater lead then that. I bet he's about

OK, JPM hit a chunk of debris and got a flat. The SC came out, and now JPM had to pit for a new tire and he can't refuel. He had to pit twice. One for the tire, and one for the fuel. This is not good for McLaren because it ruins their pit strategy and now JPM is down for pitting twice. Alonso got to pit and set a new front wing setting, but lost his huge lead. It's still Alonso, Fisi and Kimi. An interesting turn of events.

If the drainage cover issue isn't solved properly, the race could be red flagged

In other news, Schumi doesn't seem to be a happy camper right now

actually david hobbs was wrong. it was the recon lap and they can pass on it if they want. its the formation lap they cant pass on and thats not the lap they were on. it was ms's fault.

alonso said he had to much oversteer thus had to much front wing.

and now not only is ms screwed renault has just about won the title...

Why the hell would anyone put drain covers so close to the race trach? Stupid.

Now the announcers are saying JPM could have some serious damage done to his car. I can only hope.

And MS just beached his car during the SC car run. OMG, what the hell is up with this guy? I have a feeling he didn't want to race today.

EDIT: JPM IS OUT!

no need to hope for damage just hope alonso finish the race.

Safety Car is out again... Karthikheyan (sp?) had a bit of a touch up with a wall.

Cool thing is that apparently all cars are going into the pits again and are fueling to the brim, which could make for an exciting end of the race. Of course, with JPM out the constructor's title is already in Renault's hand.

this race isnt going very well. its just a high speed parade with some offs. i almost wish i was tired.

Yeah, and now Fisi goes all the way to 6th position, but Alonso is still in first. Kimi is fith with a few guys ahead of him which includes Masa, Schumi and somebody else. What a mess of a race. I hate to see this kind of end to a great F1 season, but at least Renault is looking great in all this.

its a terrible end to the season. jv was very lucky though just missing nk. button better have a lot of fuel on board as even sato is ahead... i'll be pissed if honda doesnt score some final points in 2005.

its not looking good. satos out. :nervous: :grumpy:

Sweet! Webber and Button passed Barrichello after he locked his wheels at the final hairpin. Coulthard almost got through as well. He passed him later on.

Not the best race of the season by a long shot. Kimi is letting the pack leave and just maintaining position... what an Alonso type! It's 8:30am here and I only slept about 3 hours... yuck.

Great, Fisi had to serve a penalty, for blocking the pit entrance. What BS. He now has to push if to overtake R. Schumacher.

At least he wont ruin the constructors win for Renault.

****ing toyota. i hate them. fisi should have had that posisition he did not block the pit lane AT ALL. thats a bull**** call damn fia. ralf only got any results because of LUCKY pit work. it wasnt even good pit work it was just lucky. lucky bastard. hes not even that good a driver.

and damn button you lousy pile of crap. your lucky sato droped out he would have beat you you slow ****er. you better have a better season next year.

and alonsos car catchs fire right after the race is over. haha. to bad it wasnt a toyota on fire...

Well, it wasn't pretty, but we have an end to the 2005 season. And what a beautiful season it was. Fantastic race and season for Renault. Playing it safe all season paid off, and going for speed on the last two races worked. 7 wins for Kimi, and 7 for Alonso. Renault win the drivers championship, and they win the constructors championship. Their system, their strategy paid off. They cannot be denied by anyone, they are the ulitmate champion of the 2005 season.

alonso has shown that he is very fast. i dont want to hear anymore crap about kimi being faster. i think alonso is the better driver.

That was a very very GAY race.

Nevermind the fact that JPM and McLaren in general had the worst luck again, and I don't understand why Kimi got like 3+ fastest laps in the row at the end, why didn't he do it before, and how their whole pit strategy was useless. There was NO action during the race. The only action came from SATO, Coulthard and Webber. The only thing that was even OK to watch was Webber chasing Rubens and that's it.

Fisi holding up the McLaren's, or the McLaren's being really slow, JPM out of the race again, Kimi behind 3 cars again, Safety car for like half an hour, like no passing at all..

Ugh, I hate this track. It's not the fact that my fav. driver Kimi didn't win, it's that it was a BORING race. Very very BOOOORING race.

I'm a big fan of F1 still, but even I'll admit that there's definetly something wrong an now I realize Tilke is retaded. The track just plain sucks. I was watching the race going like "I stayed up for this??".

Big disappoinment. 👎 :indiff:

alonso has shown that he is very fast. i dont want to hear anymore crap about kimi being faster. i think alonso is the better driver.
Kimi again got fastest lap of the race man. :sly:

Great race! That was really fun to watch. Alonso, R Scumacher and Kimi all did well. I always preferred renault to mclaren fr some reason so im pretty happy they took the constructors from the McMercs. Great finale, especially when Alonso started singing lol!

it was a very boring race. the track is worse then hungry for passing.

i said alonso is better and i believe that. its just a small margin though. kimi is also a great drive i dont mean to take anything away from him.

alonso singing was funny. i at first thought it was flavio.

You know what? This race is exactly the end of the season we need, it shows how the entire season has been – horrible for everyone except Alonso!

And pSI, calm down man. Fisi was blocking pit lane, he slowed down way earlier than he should have. I didn’t think they would be penalising that until next year though … they only mentioned changing it after Kimi did it at Spa.

What about Alonso killing the engine at the end of the race though? Sounded nuts, on the rev limiter for like 15 seconds! I thought he was going to do it until it died, but no, he had to switch it off – left it on fire though! :p

Pretty horrible race though. The safety car completely ruined everyones pit strategies. I would have liked to see how it would have turned out in a straight race.

i was playing gt4 during the times when they wernt racing. got the ib license on my new 2nd save file...

i'm sorry for being so mad about it. i just dont think ralf should have gotten that podium just because fisi was slow. i dont think they should have penalized him for it.

well now what shall i do now that the season is over? get some sleep? hahaha... maybe i'll see the light of day now. i'm sad its all over.

the safety car really ruined the race. china is the worst track of the season.

well... i hope honda has a better season next year. i really cant see how they cant do better.

The race itself was pretty boring... Once Montoya left, McLaren's chances for the constructor's vanished. The race was like the 2004 season: all the fun stuff happened in the back. Good for Renault... I just wish the Spanish commentators would get over the fact that Alonso won... they've been as annoying as hell since Alonso won the first race. The good thing is that they're going to televise Alonso's party in Asturias.

Anyway, bad end to a great season. Hope McMerc will have better luck next year!

It's just as fair as Alonso getting first place in Nurburgring because Kimi had the tire failure. And about three other first places he got because of McMerc's dependability issues. It goes back to an earlier discussion of who's the better driver. Many of Alonso's wins weren't because Alonso is such a good driver, but because Kimi had problems. But that could be a subject for another thread.

Sorry for the double post... I posted my reply and then saw pSI's reply.

i like our commentators on speed here in the us.

this track needs to be changed very much very soon. more passing here seriously. it was terrible this year.

Look at it this way: It was as good as the race could have possibly been considrering how poor of a track it is. Just adding technical sections does not a good track make. If you need further proof, just look at Infineon.
I did get a good laugh of the Speed commentary crews jabs at Jenson Button. I had a laugh making up my own: And here comes Jenson Button, under achiever of the year! I also found it funny when Alonse blew his engine up in the paddock from overrevving it after the race.

with alonso having 133 points and kimi having 112 now even if kimi had one the 2 races he gifted alonso and alonso took 2nd he still wouldnt have won the title. if you want to blame anyone blame jpm for not having a very good year.

What kind of jackass thinks he knows everything about everything? Answer: You.

I'm tired of this whole "Kimi is better than Alonso; Alonso is better than Kimi" thing before every race.

You have no idea how much fuel Raikkonen has on board, nor do you know how much Alonso and Fisi have. Bottom line: The Renaults are on the front row. What does that tell us about who is faster? Nothing. However, I strongly suspect that McLaren would rather not be staring at "Mild Seven" on the starting grid in the deciding race of the manufacturers' title. Just a thought.

And oh yeah, if McLaren is leaps and bounds faster, why are they relying on pit strategy to win? Couldn't they just take the front row in qualifying, and drive away during the race?

Hmmm, havent seen this guy all year. where did he come from? where ever it was I hope he goes back there

Shame about losing the constructors, but hey, there is always next year. Webber had a very good drive and finished ahead of button . Now we have the off season to look forward to. I hope that a few videos will be posted of the cars using there new engines, I want to hear what they sound like. :)

Well done renault, you have well and truly earned the championship this year. I mean after all you were good enough to beat Mclaren in the end :sly:

It's pointless to talk about this but still... 133 - 4 = 129 and 112 + 20 = 132 and 132 > 129.

Good season overall, congrats to Alonso. I wonder if he will still have motivation for next year since he has already achieved everything in F1 (he said so in Brazil).

I'm hoping for a Kimi vs. MS battle in 2006.

I'm hoping for a Kimi vs. MS battle in 2006.

I dont think that is likely because MS has passed his used by date now. It will still be a kimi v fernando battle for 2006, unless of course JPM gets some good luck and manages to avoid drains.... :indiff:

Shanghai is 'grate'.
Second time this year a grate has found its way onto the track, thats something that really needs to be fixed!

Those grates are a major hazard, those things are more life threatening than Takuma Sato driving an 18 wheeler. One ripped a massive hole through the floor of Mark Winterbottom's car when V8supercars where at shanghai earlier in the year, and had damaged his seat as well. Lucky it did not hit him. thats in a touring car. If it had done the smae damage to an F1 car it would have killed the driver.
