I think that PD should add the option to choose the wheel size and maybe add more rims. GT5 is missing many features that were in GT3!

ABSOLUTELY!!!

I know this was covered in previous threads gone by, but I LOVED the fact that in previous GT's, you ahd not only a wide selection, but you could also fit wheels from featured race cars onto different cars.

And also the fact that if you fitted racing rubber, the wheels would automatically get bigger.

in my opinion, making a game with differnet aspects missing that were in past games; is absolutely ridiculous.

something that seems simple like the ability to change rim size is really quite complicated and would require a very large update. adding new rims wouldn't be as bad however

I don't get why all rims aren't available on all cars, and those OZ racing rims on the RM vettes and R10 should also be available for the road cars.

There already is some kind of (very) limited choice in rim size for premium cars.
Hasn't anybody noticed when rims are changed? Some are clearly bigger than other ones.

Tire width also increases very slightly when fitting sports or racing tires (compared to comfort tires) or premium wheels. This was already visible in GT4.

Of course it would be better to have direct control over these parameters. There should be some limitations, though. In real life in many cases, for example, installing wider tires can cause a decrease in the maximum steering angle (indirectly). Big rims and larger tires can kill straight line performance and fuel consumption on lighter, underpowered cars, and so on.

Yes some do appear bigger but not visibly wider. Case in point the 350z. Put wheels on one and it still has that unsightly stock wheel tuck. The wheels just ain't wide enough to look flush with the bodywork and give the car that tougher look.

For example look at the Nismo 350z Z-Tune. Perfect stance with that flush aggressive look. So PD can do this with every wheel. They would just have to push out The axis on the cars so that when wheels are attached they will fit flush like in the Nismo 350z Z-Tune.

None of the other modern Z's look right with aftermarket wheels because they pretty much have the same stock wheel tuck. It's the same with most of the cars in the game.

GT5, to me is a very good game. They did a good job for the most part, but I agree with your OP and also, I know many couldn't care less about livery editing etc but this game could of been so much more with PD allowing us more custom options.

I may be alone but racing in a car where you custom designed its livery and paint scheme brings a better connection, it sounds crazy but for me that is how it is. Oh well, can't get everything we want.

If they could add the possibility of making all wheels available for all (Premium) cars, where it applies ofcourse, in a next update I'm already satisfied.
Not only are the limited options for a lot of cars, well, limited but also often poorly chosen in my opinion.
If some cars for whatever reason aren't going to have all wheels available then at least make a selection which is rather obvious, logical or appropriate.
Some classics (for example the Fiat 500) can only be fitted with modern wheels whilst there are those American Racing 'Vintage Torq Thrust' alloys which perhaps aren't ideal but more suitable than a selection of modern wheels.
A lot of modern cars also have a poorly selected stash of alloys, and even some wheels on themselves are questionable on any car (especially some designed by PD) in my opinion which since there aren't that many in the first place is a real shame.

Make them all available in the same size at all 4 corners aswell as adding racing rims with tyre manufacturer logos (Like those found on the premium race cars) and I'll be happy as Larry.

I don't get the fascination with wheels in GT5. The last thing I'm worried about in a race is how cool my wheels look.

Well after all, you're the only one PD should care about....

I mean it's not like they have a photomode that has an enormous following or anything.

Turns out some people are dull as dog s***

I'd rather have rims I like the look of on my car even if I can't see them (wait, whats this about pit stops, replays and photomode? GASP!) than have rims I know I don't like on my car...

I suggest you take a look at the annual sales figures of major aftermarket wheel manufacturers.

Let me simplify it. A whole lot of people spend a whole lot of money every year on different wheels for their cars in real life. I gather quite a lot of people care. So it's understandable that a game targeted at this same demographic would mimic that.

If they were less weight and added performance, then I'd press some buttons and buy wheels. Otherwise, it's bling, looks and decorations.

So your house is beige, your hair and eye colour is beige, your car/s are beige, your clothing is beige and your favorite colour is beige then?

I think i'd be a cool addition to the game and I also don't understand why you can put rims on some cars but not others, BBS rims for example i'd love to put on some cars but I can't.

Nothing wrong with that, let me guess, you probably don't care what colour your car is either, how it looks anyway and exclusively use bumpercam or hoodcam, am I right?

It's not as divided as some make it out to be, that you're either only interested in the performance aspects or only in the visual aspects.
People aren't one-dimensional, they can appreciate both and know what has the priority when it truly matters.
Obviously when fully focussing in a race nobody thinks about the wheels on their car at that moment but there are other moments too in a game like GT5.
Probably preaching to the converted anyway.

True Story Analog... I've painted one car in GT5, mainly out of curiosity to see how it works. And, I always drive with bumpercam. Give me performance. Playing car dress up just isn't my bag!

Very happy you can't change the rims on the regular Ferrari F430. It makes the car even more underrated and makes me even prouder to drive it.

👍

I would never mod a Ferrari unless a future GT series had an RM option.

Which going by PD's sillyness in not putting one in GT5 makes me hope they've been smarter with GT6's development....not getting my hopes up tho.

If GT5 and Shift 2 were merged, my god what a racing game we would have

I keep every exotic car I own 100% stock, tyres and everything.

I do mess around with Paint Chips too much though, I bought a Ferrari California in Azzuro California Blue to put on my 458 Italia. Now I have a replica of this.

Paint is okay! 👍

Modding is not. 👎

Fixed it for you :). Nothing wrong with PD giving us changeable wheels for every car and more wheel options. Those that share your opinion can just ignore it. Those of us that want it will use it. Viola. Everyone is happy.
