You WANT to stay home.
You HAVE to go to work.

You WANT to be at the Racetrack.
You HAVE to be at the Doctors.

You probably WANT to hang out with a buddy, drink absinthe, and plan kidnappings.
But . . .you HAVE to do your Homework.

Actually - I don't really know what you HAVE to do - let alone what you really, really WANT to do instead. You tell me.

I WANT to be riding a KLR up the trail to Maccu Picchu right now.
I HAVE to get back to work at painting walls.
:grumpy:

Your turn.. . .

P.S: Please, Keep it Clean, so everybody has a chance to express themselves. ;) Thanks.

I want to travel the world with a backpack.

I have to take painkillers to get through the day.

I WANT to have my house paid for but I HAVE to do that myself.

I WANT my son to not have CF but I HAVE to accept the fact that I might very well outlive him.

I WANT to start and stop certain threads on time but I HAVE not been doing well in that regard.

I want to go to university, but I have to write a personal statement first :grumpy:

I want to be off studying at school, all of my academic curriculums and school programs, but I have to study by myself even harder than what could suffice to acquire enough education as an expectant member of society in a former way. :boggled:

 that's a pain you have to undergo through a solid college life. :sly:

Took me 1 hour to write mine and my tutor said it only needs minor edits. :D

Tip. Make yourself sound as great as possible. When I read mine I thought I sounded like an arrogant 🤬 but apparently it's quite good.

I want to stay up all night, but I have to sleep.

Give it 80 years and we might be able to help you on that. (I hope, technology is advancing so fast these days.)

I want to be a rebel and do just what I want and not worry about what others think, or impose on me to do.

But I have to realise that that isn't realistic and I will live the next 70 years of my life in the boring monotonous 9-5.

Yep you can guess I'm an angsty teenager.

Perfect for this moment!!!

I want to tell this 🤬 to think with his head and not his 🤬
But I have to respect my boss :indiff:

Your company boss is weak-minded to control his men or too sissy for a man?

I want to go back to bed, but I have to go to work to do some urgent cases.

I want to be able to do whatever I please, but I have responsibilities. :(

I want to stay up all night, but I have to sleep.

I agree!! It's so significant for making full use of a whole day.

Hopefully one day technology will enable us to replace batteries instead of needing to sleep. Being able to not have the need for sleep would be the holy grail for me.

I WANT to start outdoor karting, but I HAVE to accept the fact that my parents want to use their money for taxes, my college savings, etc.

So much food for thought in this thread already.

TB - that is quite a sad post; you bring to mind the saying: "I complained because I had no shoes, till I met a man who had no feet."
I'm complaining that my shoes hurt, and you tell me you have no feet.

The 'Want to/Have to' situation is always with us.
There is the transitory, and sometimes immediate 'Want to/Have to' situations. You want a burger, you have to eat a hot dog - because that is all there is - so you have to make do with a hot dog.
Then there is the Want to/Have to situation that stays with you - maybe till you fight to change your destiny; You want to have a smoke - you have to stop smoking. There is a choice here, albeit not as easy a one to make or live with.
Then there is the Want to/Have to Situation that is impossible to change; You want to have blue eyes - but you have to live with green. You can't change that. But it's possible to change your mindset to want green.
Which means then your Want to/Have to Situation is perfect - in fact perfect destiny.
What you want is what you have, and vice versa.
Finding out that what we have to do is also what we want to do is the pursuit of happiness substantialised.

In TB's case - for a parent, to even think about the possibility of losing a child is horrifying. This is obviously a situation he does not want - and cannot change - and something he has to live with.
I see some other responses here, though, where I can actually see that you may be able to change your destiny, with a little planning, and some effort - you may be able to have what you want. Writing it out must have helped solidify those thoughts in your head. Now all you have to do is to focus on those wants - and how you go about making the choices that will help you achieve the destiny you want - instead of the one you have ( or are supposed to have ;) )

Today:
I want to start a new painting - my usual medium being oils on canvas.

But:

I have to go paint walls instead - using acrylics - because I have to feed myself and my family. And I have to meet many other expenses. Painting these walls for my client will help me meet to expenses. So I have to.
I guess I don't want to be hungry or homeless.
So my personal 'hobby' want is thrown out for wants that are hidden but are actually more important to my survival.

I find it funny that the two today - both my want and have are connected with 'painting'. What am I missing here? :)

I want to be happy, but i have to be rich...

I want to be rich, but i have two millions...

I want to sleep, but i have to enjoy Assassin's Creed

I want to go to the university , but i have to play PS3

I want to stop having sex, but I have to cater to so many women...

i want to relax at home, but i have to travel the world for fun...

uummmhhh ?? Life is tough... Life is short... Life is Beautiful but i can never be satisfied....

I want to spend more time (& money) on my hobbies, but I have to get a better job to pay for school debts first.

I want to have a job that suits my abilities and talents.

But I have talents and abilities which are completely useless in todays world.

[B[Michael88[/B] You have to change the job you want.
Or you want to change the abilities you have.

Today, for me:

I have to go to the Bank.
I want to go to Toys R Us.

But . . . the Toys R Us store is right beside the Bank.

I wonder . . . if I do both - will that cause a kind of Retail/Banking Butterfly effect?

I guess I'll think about it while on the way there. Hm.

Ok, another one.

I want to have a Porsche GT3 RS.

I have to have a Porsche GT3 RS.

- I find that Porsche very ugly, but different people, have different taste.

Another one from me:
I want to get a job, I can be proud of...
But, I have to get 4 year long education (and the only place's 70 kilometers away).
