In light of my Santa Clause 2 thread... I was wondering, what movies always put you in that Christmas mood every year. Funny, serious, cartoons?

My List includes:
The Grinch
Charlie Brown Christmas
Mircale on 34th Street

Scrooged with Bill Murray

AO

The immortal classic A Christmas Story. Best Christmas movie of all time.

"Tadafinga!"

A Christmas Story has to be my favorite! Haven't seen a Christmas movie that's funnier. Just thinking about it makes be laugh.

OA

I'm with Neon and Duo. A Chistmas Story owns the holiday movie genre.

"Fra - gee - lay... hmm, must be from Italy."

Hm..

A Christmas Story
The Muppets' Christmas Carol (Don't ask.)
Christmas Vacation (W/ Chevy Chase)

Same here. Scrooged was really funny, I hadn't seen it in over 10 years.

"VCR, or towel set?"

I saw Scrooged but I don't really remember much of it.

I saw A Christmas Story for the first time this year the day we put up our Christmas tree. That was a perfect conclusion to a day of Christmas decorating. It is the one thing that gets me into the Christmas spirit.

There is something about that silly movie that really gets me on an emotional level. It's probably the closest thing to what Christmas and being a kid was like for me as I'll ever see on TV. There's something sad about it, too... something lost, maybe? The world is not like that anymore, and that's sad, if you're old enough to remember.

I was telling my wife while we were watching it that the movie seems to represent a world that was guaranteed to "us," as a birthright, an American dream that never came to be. I find myself laughing with tears in my eyes for what I miss about the pre-call waiting world.

The overbearing, yet big hearted dad. The homemaker mom. The well behaved, mostly innocent classroom. The nice house on one income with two kids. Sending away for things through the mail and waiting forever. The big C-9 lights on a real tree. Bla bla bla... I could go on but I'll spare you all any more of my sentimental reverie.

I was thirteen when A Christmas Story came out.
