Well, whether you noticed it or not, prices have gone up a lot. Most notable are:
Gasoline -- up 17.3 percent in October
Fresh and Dry vegatables -- up 34.2 percent in October

The "indexed" average price increase was 1.7 % in October, the biggest increase since 1990 (interestingly, coincides with the last major war we had...this is probably obvious to some of you, but I am ignorant as to why...)

Can anybody think of any price that has gone down?

Dont forget about how high "natural gas" prices for homes. Went up a lot in the last 2 years. 👎

Gasoline because of Iraq and growing conflict in the Middle East.
Suppose Veg has gone up because of increase in import costs.

[off-ropic] And nickle prices are high at the moment due to a worldwide shortage :D. Good news for INCO! :D [/off-topic]

Well, it could be a present in disguise, because this will force big consumer cars to be more efficient, which is nice. But, it will be bad for those with classic muscle under the hood, because they probably won't give up their sweet ride due to any typical raise in gas pricing.

I quit driving mine as much due to gas prices. And my Camaro gets 18-20MPG on the highway with the 6 speed. But not so generous in the city so it stays parked. So does my truck.
BTW 18-20MPG is excellent for an old muscle car with over 400hp and a 750 Holley carb.
My truck is terrible no matter what I do. 8-10MPG  I only drove it twice this year because of gas prices.

How much is gas per gallon in the US? Here it's £3.76 a gallon (at the station nearest me) which is $6.97 (according to http://www.xe.com/ucc/). 1 UK gallon is 1.2 US gallons, 0.823 UK gallons to 1 US gallon. So we pay about $7 for less than one US gallon. How does that compare?

Here in Michigan it is about $1.98 US Per gallon. Dang and I thought our gas prices were high!

Here in Canada gas prices have actually been going down. In the last few weeks around where I live it has gone from an average of about 81 cents / litre down to about 72 - 73 cents / litre. Some days it goes below this even, to 71 cents!

Now's about time for a Brit to come in and say...

You have no idea!

18-20 on the highway is excellent. I dont think new Imprezas can do much better than that (by more than 1-2 mpg).

Car base prices.
You can get a few American minivans/compacts for under $15k.
Not including all of those $9,999 Kias. They've been around forever.

Technology prices are always falling. It is when they enter the market low everyone can jump and cheer. Well the consumers can anyway.

Gasoline has gone down about a nickel per gallon in the last couple weeks. And the stock market has been shooting up like a crazed heroin addict.

video games in canada. Well, the prices are still the same now as they were 4 years ago, but the difference is that the US to Canada exchange rate is now $0.85 US per canadian rather than 0.45 US per canadian. We pay a hell of a lot more on our games because of it :irked:

I was just curious as to the pricing on brand new vehicles in Britain. Are they considerably less than the US? I'm just trying to figure out why the difference in Gas Pricing. Or is it that your minimum wage is higher than $5.15 an hour?

I wanted to cry when I heard the new Ford Mustang costs about £14.000 if converted to £s in the US. Double that and you would come close to the price Ford would sell it here in the UK for. :grumpy:

I'm not seeing prices go up. Gas here is pretty similar to what it was a year and a half ago. Groceries have actually come down some for me. Electronics always go down. Rent always goes up. Car prices seem to be falling quickly.

On an even brighter note, the prices I charge my employers is going up. :)

Breakfast cereals seem to have gone up a couple of dollars too which is why i either have toast, Weet-Bix or nothing for brekkie nowadays.

Petrol is about $1.23l (which has gone down from about $1.29l).

Car insurance etc has gone WAY up thanks to all the boy racers.

*sigh* And the New Zealand government is still trying to think of even more ways got grab money off us people who really need it.

Except for the Hitmen, you could just generalize it into technology...

I'm typically getting 20-22mpg in my 2004 WRX. But most of that is city driving, and running it to 6k RPMs every on-ramp and other street I deam it necessary to have some fun. I also have a turbo-back exhaust, but I doubt that changes anything.

There is place near by me that serves up 93.5 Octane gas, which is rather rare up here in Denver, Colorado (91 Octane is the standard premium). Plus its even cheaper than most other gas stations.
