clutch button

why dont PD make an option to use like real life clutch, forza have this feature, so why GT5 not?, MAYBE IT WOULD BE BETTER TO GET A g27 logitech, but i really cant get one, and i think a lot of people either, so why dont we get a clutch, it would be fine, cause sometimes when i change gear it feels too smooth, like you never loose speed, and the sound its a bit unrealistic, it just changes gear too perfect, too clean.

A button for clutch? The only buttons on the DS3 that could work as a clutch are the L2 or R2 buttons and they are also the only ones that work good as throttle and brake for me. I don't need one.

I'd like a clutch button. It's all in the player's configuration tastes leepangfu. ;)

Yea but a clutch is not something that you can put on and off with a button. So a button like X or on of the others would be even more unrealistic than no button at all:D

I'd place it in as L1. I think I had it like that on some PS2 game that had a clutch, can't remember which game it was though.

Toca Race driver 2 and 3 had clutch button options i think?

I personally can't see it working out very well, in Forza i find it fiddley to use

The G27 clutch is on off so a button would work fine. I have a G27 and can't understand why PD think they are perfect at making a sim, but apparently don't know how a clutch should work! Rant over, but yes they should allow you to map it since it i on/off and i'd rather use a button for on off than a clutch pedal with lots of travel myself

Need For Speed Pro Street had it. It was fun once you learned to use it. Problem was it took you a long time to get used to the feeling that your fingers were getting all tied up in a knot. But it's not impossible, and with GT5's physics it would be easier.

I would set it up in R1, keeping the L2 and R2 for shifting, and both analogs for steering, braking and gas. Just Like I've alwasy played since GT1.

I think we should have it, hell the game tries to simulate it when you select manual anyway (hence why %99 of the cars have wheelspin)

I use the left bumper on the xbox controller for forza so it'd work the same way on a DS3

Why do people keep saying this? The G27's clutch isn't on/off it is gradual. The grabbing point isn't too large but it is there.
Moreover why did you get a G27 if you don't want a clutch that has travel? Every car I've driven that has a clutch has about the same amount of travel, if not more, than the G27.

Answering the OP. I'd like to be able to have a clutch option available with the DS3, but as I use a G27 it doesn't actually worry me.
I think that Tourist Trophy had a clutch option as well as body lean, front and back brakes and gears.

On Forza using the Microsoft wheel I use the button clutch and I think it adds to the game a lot. It only took me a day or so to get used to it.

This is true my g27 has a smooth clutch.... Also you are right about the grab point it is kind of big and you can slowly let it out and coast forward slowly... Only down side to the clutch on the g27 is it feel's the same for all the cars..... LoL but I would not use a button on the ds3 cuz I did not like it in TOCA3! Could be helpful/fun for some tho

Forza is on XBOX, why isn't Gran Turismo too?

Happy Holidays everyone!

I wouldn't mind a clutch button for my DFGT, it would almost be like a hand-operated clutch for an f1 car. I'd set it as down on the d-pad.

I throttle with the R2 button as well, but my upshift is R1. Sometimes I'll use the finger that I throttle with to upshift. Kinda mimicks a clutch better and adds a more human element to my laps, though it does add a little more time. It's fun to see how quickly I can change gears this way.

Yet another failed attempt at esarcasm, but I thought the 'rolleyes' smiley was a dead giveaway. It was to the effect of "If Forza 4 jumps off of a cliff should GT5 too?"

The problem with a clutch is that. Well. You dont need it to play GT5 because the clutch plate doesnt actually exsist for you to disengage it from the gearbox. To change gear. Or something along those lines...

What's the point of a clutch on a pad when you don't have a H shifter? :dunce:

Also, clutch on GT5 isn't on/off since it has a very nice slip (at least the slip is nice on my ClubSport Pedals). 👍

Sarcasm doesn't work on the internet.
Good point though, I hate these "why GT5 doesn't have X what Forza 4 has" threads.

I'd like a clutch as well, but only for manual cars, so the premium interior view would give a realistic pause for the clutch, so when bob changes gear, it looks realistic.

Here's an idea, STOP UPGRADING YOUR CLUTCH.

Meanwhile having a button on the DS3 for clutch would be too many operations to deal with all in just two hands efficiently. Still, it should be an option.

If you want the clutch, G27 is the way to go.

What's wrong I could handle clutch operation with bump Forza 3 Default gamepad layout 12 ?:)

If this feature a clutch function in key mapping screen, I could build my own custom external button set (feat. analog clutch) for my GT(Driving) Force Pro .
