Iv'e used cockpit view in all games and sims since the days of Virtua Racing and Toca 2 but which one do you use in GT5 Standard, Narrow or Narrower.

Usually standard but sometimes do zoom in, unless the car has a mirror I can actually use in standard. Different cars have radically different camera positions however.

The Zonda R has a brilliant cockpit view and narrow for me, but it does depend from car to car.

Hmm I've been using narrow mostly but am trying to get used to narrower as it's the most realistic view to mimic real life.
I find that with some cars you can see your wing mirror in the view i.e on my monitor in front of me which is totally unrealistic with the standard view. There's no way my wing mirror should be in front of me especially when it's on the outside of the car!

Narrower is restrictive at first but I'm slowly getting used to it. It has to be the most realistic view surely? I'm Surprised more people don't use it.

To be honest, I just got used to Standard and haven't wanted to try anything else. Maybe I should give Narrow a go.

At first it will feel very alien for sure but after a good few laps it starts to make sense.

One thing I just noticed whilst watching a replay of Spa was that whilst using standard view I was a good few feet away from the curb on the Kemmel straight but whilst using Narrower I was on the money down the straight and I seem to Apex better.

I just tried a lap of Type V in the Alfa (as per the GTP weekly time trial) and I swear I Apexed 95 % of the turns properly. I knocked 2.5 seconds off my lap time!
Looks like I'm gonna stick with narrower. :)

This depends really. I often use the standard.., but I've also found that if you're like me (in that you're one of those people who still see a lot of digital noise in the interior shadows).., zooming in helps take your focus off that as there is less of a the dash visible.

I'll take my Miura for a spin in Standard and then Narrow, and see if there is any difference.

How long do you think it'll take to get used to Narrow?

Well I've just gone from narrow to narrower is about 2 hours or so.

I'd say that this view is much closer to the one I use in iRacing which is scientifically calculated and also closer to the one I use in rFactor 2 and GTR 2 etc so maybe I have adapted quicker than you might.

I try to avoid epilepsy, so I don't use cockpit view at all in GT5--the bumpiness is just too much. Other driving sims I've used figured it out and don't bounce so much (simulating how the head absorbs the bumps and stabilizes vision). The older NASCAR ones did a fine job (although the cockpits were pretty simple looking).

I tried using Narrow today and sucked. I'm getting used to it, though. I'll stick at it for a couple days.

Standard for me too.
I hate how the mirrors disappear in the narrow / narrower views.
Some cars even have most of their mirrors out of view in standard view, which is a major flaw in my opinion.

Hay Harris.👍

I must say that I enjoy standard car cockpit views more then premium, only because you don't see the steering wheel and drivers hands as much. If I could remove the steering wheel in premium cars now that would be impressive. I only say this because in my old racing rig I had the monitor right by the steering wheel.

Exactly ^. Also look how bad that looks. It's as if your sat several feet away from your dashboard and windscreen. Imagine having arms that long to reach the ingame steering wheel, not to mention your incredibly long legs to reach the pedals.
That's why narrower is the most realistic.

I also use a wheel and I sit as close to the screen as possible and am now sticking with the narrower view
