No question about it it would instantly be the best console F1 game ever.

I take it that you must like F1 a lot. Personally I like GT much better than any F1 game. Driving an F1 is cool but it is also very intense and stressful. It is nice to be able to change up and drive something more relaxing from time to time and is awesome to have a chance to drive 100s of different cars on tracks around the world.

To be honest I wouldn't mind having both games. Codemasters F1 2010 game is based around, well.... F1. With actual seasons and sponsors. GT5 doesn't have that, from what I've seen GT5 has that Ferrari F1 car and that's it. There is no F1 season and no "living the life" type career mode. The games look fun in their own ways and to be honest, I would love to have them both.

A Nice intelligent first post. Long may that continue. Welcome to gtplanet.

I can also tell your not Tokio Drift.
Welldone.

Tire punctures occur too often (both my rears blew in the last corner at Australia, sent me into the wall really hard)
AI times are fast in the rain
Game crashes........ALOT
Race results bugs (I finished ahead of a driver in one race, with no penalties, and the results showed he finished ahead of me)
The timing for the first lap of a race isn't right. The time starts when you cross the start line, not immediately on the green lights.
There's no split times showing time behind driver in front of you, or leader, you have to guess.
Game doesn't recognize multiple processor machines
No DX11 support directly (need to edit files)
Teammate will not pit if your team is expecting you, and your teammate will ultimately DNF
Corrupt file saves (mine corrupted after a research and development session)

That's just the start of it, there's alot of problems all over the place. There's piles of threads on the F1 CM forums. It's hard to play the game right now without the bugs affecting race results directly and drastically.

I have it on my PC, but it doesn`t crash a lot. The other issues are true, that said, but they doesn`t annoy me.
It is a fun game, all around, even though it isn`t a simulator.
As someone else said, it would be nice to have both games, F1 and GT5, because the only similarity between them is the fact there are some "cars" and "tracks" on both, given that playability and objectives are completely different.

It didn't have problems for me at first, but then they all hit me at once.

Well the thing about this thread is more like "Is F1 in GT is better than codemasters F1?".

The answer to that is no,the F1 in codemasters F1 is much better there is a whole management system on the F1 game an some parts that only an F1 game can touch,I have played prologue and the F2007 is terrific but is not as good as playing on dubai with a red bull, sure PD will make it right on the F1 part of GT but it wont be as good, although I do believe that it will be great, unlike GT4 formula's racing version which was pure garbage, they try and it was so so.

They creator of this thread should rename this thread, people tends to misunderstand the meanings.

There's slim to no chance that we'll see a handful of 2010 F1 cars in GT5 (with the exception of the RB6) So if you're an F1 fanatic grab a copy of F1 2010. I sold mine btw, I didn't have the patience to wait for the patches. As for GT5 who knows how many F1 cars it'll have. Let's just hope that PD includes a good number of classic F1 cars.

Hey guys, uh, how are you saying that GT5 is so much better than F1 2010 when GT5 isn't out yet? Just throwing that out there.

Well, F1 didn't exactly hit the ball out of the park, so unless you expect GT5 to fall on its face right out of the gate, It will be much better than F1.

The fact that PD worked so closely with Red Bull Racing means that they probably have a pretty good F1 car physics-wise. Of course it's pure assumption, but I'd say is a relatively safe one.

This is a dumb comparison at this point. One models the F1 2010 season, one does a bunch of different kinds of cars. For a fair comparison, you need to compare them on equal ground, like their physics of F1 cars, tires, aero, track surface, steering feel, all kinds of things that nobody knows anything about. This thread is silly fodder.

All right, I've scrolled troughout the other pages and honestly there's no margin for comparison between a game which is focused in one racing category and another which is bread and diverse, and most important of all, isn't even available yet.

For sure, F1 2010 is flawed, there are many bugs, is not as impressive as GT graphics-wise, it's quite easy to put really fast laps, limited to a single category and therefore boring after some weeks. However, the Dynamic weather system is great, the AI is quite smart and always spread like a cloud of beetles in the first corner and there are real hazards which can end the race in no time.

I like F1 a lot, and for sure I'll like GT5 when it finally comes out, but establishing a rational and balanced comparison between these two, is like trying to compare Tequila to a good Scotch, both are good to my taste and really can cheer up any social meeting, however they're different in so many ways that you can't help but want both of them. The same goes for Bacon and Barbecue, hmmm, I like 'em a lot too.....

Just picked up the game and played it for a few hours. I like it so far, the game does real well to make you feel like you are a F1 driver.
Authentic content wise, this is the best F1 yet.
Graphic wise, I'd prefer the F1:CE a lot more. 30fps looks horrible on the main straight of the track, now I see why Kaz strive to maintain 60fps in GT5.
There are some annoying bugs which will be fixed soon I hope.
It's really not fair to compare F1 2010 to GT5 so I'll compare it to F1CE instead. To be honest, I'd take F1CE with updated roster and some physics tweak over F1 2010 any day of the week.
Though it's not perfect, this should help me kill some time until GT5 get here.

F1 2010 is great but this is a stupid comparison. It's like comparing Fedor Emelianenko ( GT5 ) to any fighter that ever lived ( F1 2010 ), it's just unbeatable

you've got to be kidding, you think a red bull F1 car in F1 2010 is better than the F2007 in GT5P? do you mean speed wise? bcuz otherwise you must not be a sim racer @ all. Any car in GT5P beats anything in F1 2010 but I only say that bcuz physics are important IMO

This is like taking A tennis player, and a football player and saying which is better.

Unlike a number of fanboys here, I don't think GT5 is the God game and is automatically better than anything else. But if I could only choose 1, GT5, although I would really miss F1 2010.

I believe Akira is saying that F1 2010 recreates the whole F1 experience better than GT5:P, not, "LOL, F1 has better physics", which isn't surprising since that's the purpose of the game.

Once you shop around youll come running back, the thing is thers always a compromise, some games have amazing physics but poor choice of cars tracks and maybe poor graphics, some are the opposite, in my experience none have it "all" but GT always has the MOST, and especially after playing WRC2010 i can say that even GT4s physics are superior to alot of racers out there.

Codemasters, meh, if they came out witha TOCA4 with updated everything, that could be their competitor title, but rinky dink things like Grid and Dirt its NFS with a bit more sophistication.

F1 looks nice but it seems that they put alot of attention into the "image" of the F1 career as opposed to the reality of driving an actual F1 car. Which in its own way is great, its certainly what i liked about TOCA3 and felt GT lacked, however, in GT you have to use your imagination! But i do envy that career progression seen in some Codies games.

I can't say which is better b/c i don't have gt5 yet, but i can say this. I'm disappointed with F1 2010. I loved codemasters operation flashpoint, and played dirt some (it had some things i enjoyed). I had relatively high expectations, but i don't think too high.

Were it not simply for the opportunity to try the tracks, I would sell the game. The steering wheel is just not working for me. Im using a dfp, and maybe its just not optimized. As it is now, it's really awful. There is no sense of connection between the car and driver.

F1 2010 is absolutly amazing. Gt5 will probably be better but I would still play f1 quite often. There, the best answer.

Couldn't agree more. When I purchased F1 2010 and then found out GT5 of course got delayed I wasn't to bummed. This game will definitely keep me busy until GT5 finally gets here just in time for chrismtas of 2011!

I was really indecisive in the lead up to the release of F1 2010 as to whether or not to grab a copy. The game had reviewed well in the days prior, and for the first time in years I was actually following F1 because of the tight championship points battle, combined with Webber's success...finally! On the other hand, it was Codemasters first outing with the licence so I could possibly get my F1 fix from GT5 instead and eventually pick up a more refined F1 2011 game.

Something came over me on release day and while standing in the shops staring at the case on my lunch break, I went for it. Both PS3 and 360 copies were flying off the shelf and when I got to the counter I overheard the call to "get more copies from the back". I've thoroughly enjoyed every minute I've played of F1 2010 since and am so glad I decided to take the plunge. It's a brilliant game that will only get better next year!

Sure, the Gran Turismo series holds the number 1 spot in my heart for racing games and, sure, the GT5 disc will no doubt spend way more time in my PS3 than the F1 disc will...but there is something to be said for a game that focuses on doing one series and doing it well. That same argument also has me following NASCAR The Game 2011 with bated breath (here's hoping we're finally getting closer to a having a worthy NR2003 successor).
