I want F1 1989. If they ever announce this I will, quite literally, **** my pants.

I would to. It would be nice to race historic cars on historic tracks in 1080p lol I would prefer a historic f1 game rather than the next installment to be honest : )

Codemasters wins race to drive new FORMULA ONE™ games.

Codemasters wins race to drive new FORMULA ONE™ games to new genres, platforms and territories. Formula One World Championship Limited extends multi-year videogame alliance with Codemasters. FORMULA ONE games portfolio to expand and diversify throughout 2012 and beyond.

Codemasters® will remain the home of official FORMULA ONE games with the confirmation that it has extended its partnership with Formula One World Championship Limited in a further multi-year agreement to develop and publish multiple titles for video game consoles, personal computers, mobile devices and online platforms.

Bernie Ecclestone, Formula One group CEO, said:

“Codemasters has created some of the best and most successful FORMULA ONE games to date. We and the teams work closely with them and look forward to creating more award winning games together in the future.”

Rod Cousens, CEO, Codemasters said:

“We got off to a strong start with FORMULA ONE but we harbour ambitions to do much more. FORMULA ONE is front of mind at Codemasters and we give it the focus and attention it deserves. We have established close links across the sport and they know that, in Codemasters, they have a great partner.

“We remain ambitious with our plans and want to take the series forward. We want to take it to new geographies, make it available on new platforms to new audiences. We are taking FORMULA ONE to a new online platform this spring and our portfolio will be extended with a FORMULA ONE experience that will address a younger video game audience later in 2012. Our teams are hard at it, creating world class FORMULA ONE games across multiple genres for players irrespective of location or gaming platform and now, for many years to come.”

Codemasters will continue to produce the official FORMULA ONE game for worldwide release; development will remain with the BAFTA award-winning studio team at Codemasters Birmingham. The FORMULA ONE portfolio will be expanded with F1 ONLINE THE GAME™, a free-to-play online management and racing game, which will go live this spring. An additional and all-new FORMULA ONE experience for a family audience is due this holiday season with details to be announced.

What are your thoughts on this ?

Personally im happy as long as they continue to make the game feel fresh each year with new ideas and not just make a copy of F1 2010 with the new teams/drivers
Now that they have added DRS and Kers , and the safety car they can hopefully work towards making the future games a proper simulation of the beautiful sport that is Formula One.

edit : well the Mclaren is beautiful , not sure about the rest..

I would say that this is a good anouncement, except they hardly announced anything... And a child friendly sim is sort of scary to hear.

"We're going to make it a simulation of unrealisticness, and when you crash it will sound like BOOM! The fastest way around the track is to drift, and the cookie monster will be a bonus driver!" :P:

It sounds as if they're going to make more then one game. Maybe there will be a child friendly game so as to get children interested in the sport, and a normal game which is similar to the previous ones.

Activision have done this with the NASCAR series. They're working on the new NASCAR 2012 but they've also released NASCAR Unleashed, a more cartoon-like and generally easier game for the youngsters.

I think that would be a shameful money spinner for Codemasters but I doubt cynicism from their regular F1 players would put them off producing something similar to Activision's 'Unleashed'. Obviously there's nothing wrong with trying to get young kids into F1 but there's nothing to games like Unleashed, they're unbelievably simple and bare, yet they're still retailing for £40 which is ridiculous.

How mature. The bugs are all minor and none spoil the game.

Force feedback ruined. Was the nail in the coffin for me.

Haven't played it since. Is the tire wear bug still in the game?

Force Feedback is decent, and what tire wear bug are you talking about? I've never encountered it.

Some people will be fixated on one thing they here about or one experience they encounter and hold it against the game for its entire lifespan.

I say, your loss.

Looking forward to 2012, it should be another great upgrade to 2011.

And this. It seems that people just expect games to be perfect. One little bug and the whole thing is ruined. No game is perfect.

Sach
Just want them to make the AI better and to make the racing more realistic, tbh. :)

Yeah, but they could at least announce that. Makes you worry that they won't improve it :nervous:. Also, I want them to go back to career system from F1 2010. That'd be really cool 👍
