Colour obsession - do you have one?

No, I don't.

I have never actually used the paint feature of GT5. I don't know if I want to, really.

I feel I would be more inclined to if you could just buy whatever paint you want.

I started to paint my cars in high visibility yellows and oranges for online use, in the hopes that it would be easier to see and avoid me. As it turns out, it was easier to see me all right... to hit. I'm starting to lean towards blacks and dark grays.

:grumpy:

depends on the car.. but i'm painting my favourite ones!
gallardo -> metallic dark blue (idk the name)
murcielago -> light green
I'm keeping a matte black for a paintable x1 when I get one

Pink with yellow wheels. Tends to make online opponents lose their head for some reason :)

I bought the LFA just to get the passionate pink, have never driven it.

Frankly there are so many boring colors and so little styling possibilities that it is a shame, pink is almost all you can go for.

@NOS Waster: Still got chips to spare? I'd love if you would waste one on me (psn: cicua).

Used to love black cars in GT4, especially the black beauties but gone off black now and onto mostly red & blue. Some really nice shades in GT5 too.

For the longest time, all the cars I won were either coming out white or silver...so I had to paint them. I dont know if it is something about the server, but at least 15 of them were all white...I hate white on a car.

All my Ferrari's are rosso scuderia, and all Lamborghini's are yellow. Lotus is lime green, and Jaguar are shades of green or silver for the XKE. My Furai is red. Call it childish, but I try to make sure each car looks great, from the lowest Citroen to my all white (only exception) Veyron.

I like black Corvettes, Lamborghinis and Tuned Lotus Elises.

All my Ferrari's will be red eventually, although i might get another 458 as i like the yellow my tuned one came with.

I also want to collect all of the Midnight Purple cars, not just the paintchips

I love how you know exactly what color the cars were stock! I bought as quickly as a could the 70 challenger r/t and painted it panther pink! I hated other racing games where you have 50 shades of blue but have no clue which one is closest to Dodge B5 Blue Pearl. OCD? Absolutely!

I tend to collect cars in Silver, Grey, Yellow or Orange. All of which MUST be Metallic. :)

I tend to go for colours I would choose when I would buy that specific car in real life which resulted in a lot of rather similar blackish, dark grey or silver ones, you know mature understated colours.
Not only though, there are also plenty of bright yellow, orange and a few white ones too, etc. depending on whether I think it's suitable for that specific car and the culture/history or type/purpose it represents.
I've got a thing for gold-coloured muscle cars I'm afraid and used a chrome-silver chip for the Shelby Cobra so I can pretend it's polished aluminium (I've seen unpainted polished aluminium Cobra's and they looked stunning).
Don't think I've got a specific colour obsession although some sort of pattern seems to be developing in my garage, the only colour I really dislike however on almost any car is red, especially bright reds (that might be an obsession though....).
The only red cars I own are the MarkIV, P4 and TZ2 (oh, and both Ferrari F1 cars), somehow red seems fine on these examples though, on most other cars (including the Italian ones) I find red too garish and loud.
Orange and bright yellow strangely don't for me.....(on selected examples, not all cars ofcourse).

well last night i spent about an hour looking for the right color combination for my McLaren F1.
I wanted the "original" orange that you see on most press photos from it's time, but the orange color it comes with is looking no where near the "real one".
I also wanted to paint the rims a color that would match the orange, but alas, I ended up leaving the rims completely stock, as the original ones simply look better. and well, they're the original ones.
I ended up using Premium Passionate Orange (3P) that the Fairlady Z '07 comes with. If anyone's got a better suggestion, let me know :)

Also, winning the Gran Turismo All Stars and Like The Wind with that car is awesome. A road going car competing, and winning, against race cars. Amazing :D
I did the exact same thing, I wasn't content with the papaya orange or whatever so I used the Premium Passionate Orange. I'm gonna dupe the color so I can also paint my MP4-C the same color. :dopey:

Lol nice :)

I won't be painting my MP4-C the same color though. It's not the classic car, so it doesn't deserve the color! lol :P
I bought it in Volcano Red, and I'm gonna leave it like that. It's a nice color, and I don't really feel anything for that car, as I do with the F1.

For me, my favorite colors are:

Gris Clair
Sunset Orange
Lemans Sunset Pearl Metallic
Grand Prix Maroon
Plum Crazy
Chrome Silver (Love it on my Academy GT-R '09)

I love midnight type colors. Really dark and awesome looking blue, green, or purples.

I generally choose whatever colour I think look best on the car. Ferrari's are usually red for example, though I painted my 512BB yellow. Initially, I had wanted to paint every car I got white - as I quite like the idea of an all white garage. It turns out though, that some just look really bad in white.

I have a problem...

I have every Lancer Evo in the game, except the rally cars, in Scotia White (the colour they use on the RS models), every Honda I have is Championship White (the Z Act looks awesome) and I have at least one R32, 33, 34, 35 GT-R and Stagea 260RS Autech in Midnight Purple II or III, and they all look awesome. If I could figure out whether or not Toyota and Mazda have a special colour, I'd probably paint all my MX-5's, RX-7's and all the rest that colour, too.

I also love the green on the Lotus Carlton; you know, the green that's so dark it's pretty much just black? I also like putting brightly coloured wheels on black cars, it makes almost no difference what colour they are, because it always looks awesome.

Oh and may I recommend putting Mark IV Red on the RM Silvia Spec R Aero? It suits it very well.

So far I use to like white or black now I'm on a mission to get alot of my cars chrome silver I don't know why it's just So cool

HN7
Yellow. I'm painting all my cars in solid or matte yellow. Even my real life bike and car is yellow

Another fan of yellows here as well .Most of my " favourites " are yellow .Did the Ford Gt seasonal event round 3 and did mine in "yellow" with stripes....awesome.Also did the Lotus Elise 111r event in a yellow as well .Love my colours .

Certainly do, Chrome orange taken from an S1 Elise. Every car I use to race online is painted in chrome orange.

I'd probably say that Toyota have the various "Super Red" colours, there's about 4 different ones I think, or Blue Mica. For Mazda, Brilliant Black?
