OK we all know that Forza 4 is out at the end off this year and despite not knowing a huge deal its surely going to be pretty special. Many GT5 players play both series and no doubt many current GT5 players wil be tempted to move over to Forza once Forza 4 comes out. Purely because its new and because most people will have completed GT5

So the Question is what will Polyphony Digital do to combat the release of Forza 4.

2 interesting rumours/discoveries have been made recently, firstly that PD will be at E3 possibly annoucing a new project and secondly the discovery of 24 new track logo's related to GT5.

So Do PD have a plan to release a huge DLC around the time of forza 4's release? Would lots off new tracks, premuim cars and events be enough or is more required to keep you playing GT5? Could we possibly see Gran turismo 5 spec2? Or Will PD do nothing?

So guys and gals what does PD need to do to keep you playing GT5 when Forza 4 comes out? Let them know here lol

Kaz said in an interview that they can put moar stuff in GT5. So all we have to do is to wait and see what's gonna be up for downloading.

We all know that they see our desire for DLC...

I wonder what they need to put in Gran turismo 5 spec2 to make it interesting?

I like the idea though

Personally I'd like to see more variation within A-spec rather than it being just race after race. MSR on the Dreamcast and also the PGR series held interest because they mixed things up with overtaking challenges, top speed challenges, style challenges etc.

We have drift mode in game already but PD don't make use of it within A-spec.

Ithink this kind of mixture also serves to make the game feel less grindy.

Really they need to come out with GT6 having the problems fixed in GT5. If I had the capability to move to Forza I'd most likely buy it. If I had the choice between an improved GT5, GT6 or Forza I'd still most likely go with Forza, hoping they wouldn't have done the knuckle head things that PD did to GT5.

Love GT5, but the only thing that stops me from playing Forza is the lack of support for Logitech wheels. If Forza 4 will support logitech wheels I will buy a XBox. Right now there is no match for me between GT5 and Forza 4, I will keep palying GT5 for months/years to come.

Forza always looks nice, but thats about it. GT always had more long term motivation.
Besides buying an Xbox is about the last thing i would do :)

If PD really wanted to take the wind out of Forza's sales (pun), & wanted to do it with GT5 spec II. It would need to include...

-All 24 of the dropped GT4 tracks added to GT5.
-A popular real world track. Be it Bathurst, Spa, Pikes Peak or something else
-At least 3 premium conversions. (My guess would be Jaguar XFR, Bugatti Veyron & FGT)
-3 or 4 brand new to the series premium cars. (Aventador, One-77, Aileron, Haurya)
-50 new A/B spec events to suit
-Another addition to course maker. Direction & circuit/sprint selections?
-A fast forwad/backward thing for replays.

That's it. If they did that, i know plenty of people who would buy the game :)

I would really like to compare GT5 with Forza4.
But is it true that the Logitech G25 wheel is not compatible with Xbox (and therefore also not with Forza)?
If it is compatible, I might just buy a Xbox if Forza is something good...

I am fortunate enough to have both consoles. As i am a long time FM player; i will be moving to FM4 the second of its arrival on my doorstep.

FM3 kept me addicted and playing daily for more then 1,5 years.
GT5 couldnt keep me addicted for more then two weeks.

Ive said it before and ill say it again; GT5 does not want to be played. Yes ingame most is fine, but the menu structure and the whole UI (User Interface) is unpraktical, was slow, and leaves room for guessing where you need to go.

GT5 spec II would need:
- No screentears at all,
- All standards made premium
- Replay functionalities.
- Reverse being a selectable gear. (as it is in RL!!(and they call themselves the REAL sim))
- Smoother graphics (no pixeltations with smoke)
- Better looking environments
- No B spec; instead triple the amount of Aspec races.
- A function that i can invite my friends to my online lobby.
- In game tuning.
- Adjustable Tire width and Steering angle, engine swapping, Painting, Trading

I could go on and on and on...

Conclusion:
It doesnt really matter what GT5 spec II does; i will be moving to FM4 the second of its arrival on my doorstep.

Forza 4 looks very promising. But that's it. We got to get some real thing of it before comparing it to GT5. All that exists for now are promises. And remember that many games look quite different in their pre-release demos to the final ones.

Im the complete opposite.....I played both forza 2 and 3 and for some reason could just not get into them, cant quite put my finger on why but they just didnt grab me............it just wasnt gran turismo and to be honest when i fired them up thats all i wanted them to be. Within weeks off having both forza's i was back to playing gt 4. GT5 has now been out for the best part off 5 months and still gets played every day in my household.

Although im not a fan off forza i do appreciate that its a great racing series with a big fanbase, something im sure PD are also well aware off(well hopefully lol) So im just hoping/wondering if they have a plan to as someone put it"take the wind out off forza's sails"

Agreed, some refinements to the coures creator would be very welcome. More control over corner types and options to place some eye candy(grandstands/buldings) at the track side would be nice lol

I guess its just what you played most and what suits your needs best.
I take my hat (that i dont have on but hey....) off to you for your unbiased reply; I was expecting to get flamed for being an FM fanboy.. Which i kinda am, but i respect GT5 non-the-less.

I'm intersted in knowing why you think that most GT5 players also play Forza, as both games are only available on seperate consoles =/

Seriously, first of all, gt5 needs to fix all glitches and stuff, and make the online stabilty better. I dont ming all standards beeing premium, and i doubt all standards will be premium either.

Indeed, but a lot of people have both consoles and a gaming PC. And GT and Forza compete directly as games.

On topic, I guess GT needs some refinements overall, more tracks and more premium cars. I would love to see those Le Mans beasts upgraded to premium.

=)

watch this and you see it is compatible, so if you really want to use your g25 or g27 or whatever you have you can but it isnt all that great.:)

Wait a minute here.

When you guys say GT5 Spec II are you meaning that if PD put out a seperate game sort of like prologue called GT 5 Spec II and put in 24 tracks that should already be in GT5 and tossed in a few premium models that should already be in GT5, additional ASpec events that should already be in GT5, fast forward and rewind in replays that should already be in GT5 you would be pleased and buy that game? Doesn't that sound crazy to you?

I'm not a hater, or a fanboy, I have both systems, and both games (FM3, and GT5) I like them both, but the only way GT5 is going to combat anything is to release an update, not no damn DLC, but an update, that swaps over some of these standard cars into premiums and changes the garbage ASpec.

The simple fact that GT5 (a new game that came out in November of 2010) is being compared to FM3 (a game that came out in October of 2009) is silly, there shouldn't be any comparing, it should be pure and utter domination on GT5's part, and it's a total shame that it isn't.

Just from that leaked footage video showing a few features and some minor content of the new Forza game if Turn 10 just does a halfway decent job of putting this game together it's going to crush GT5 and any other game out guys, denying that is simply crazy talk, fanboy or not.

For people who don't have an XBOX I get it, but for people with both consoles, you'd be a fool to not go to Forza 4 if it's done HALF as well as GT5.

I know this is a matter of opinion...

I have an XBOX too and in terms of GT5 and Forza I think they're very similar, there are good points and bad points to each. They both focus too much on grinding in the single player, the multiplayer and online is much better in Forza but IMHO the driving/track experience is better in GT5. In general Forza is a more coherent and complete package.

However, in terms of single player game structure and progression I think they should both take a long hard look at Shift 2. There's a distinct lack of grinding in comparision and the track mastery is a nice touch. The leaderboards in Forza are good but I think they may go the autolog style route for 4, which will be great.

I doubt PD are too concerned about having a big release ready for Forza 4, those who are going to buy it, me included, will do so no matter what PD do. If I was them I'd plan a headline grabbing release 2 to 3 months after the launch of Forza 4 to bring players back to GT.

GT5 will be a year old by the time forza 4 comes out, I think itll be time for a change at that stage. PD have no need to try and compete with Forza 4 seeing as there is such a large gap between them.

They cant wait that long to release DLC, so many people will have lost interest at that stage it would be too late. The DLC would have to be pretty special to out shine a new game that so many people are anticipating

Ive played forza 2+3 and really got into 3. I anticipate forza 4 to be very good and expect the single player/career mode to be better structured than GT5's A Spec

Yeahhhhhh...um, im not gonna buy a new console just for forza, also buying another seperate wheel, and forking out money to play online, no matter how good it is. But hopefully Forza will give a reason for PD to combat it, by adding alot of new content. I am also really curious how Forza's graphic power will compare to GT5. Especially GT5's lightning and attention to detail.

I think the reason I find it difficult to get back into Forza 3 is because I have to use my brother's Xbox to play it. I might feel like playing for hours on end, but that could come to a halt if he wants to play WWE SVR 2011.

If you have both consoles you have 1.) Too much money. 2.) Too much time. 3.) No life.

For me to play FM4, they'd need to release it on the PS3 :) Which I would like, actually. Seems a fun series and I wouldn't mind giving it a go. I won't buy an Xbox though, so alas, not for me!

I agree with everything you said. I grew up a GT fan and the series has slowly went downhill. I had high hopes GT5 would revive my gt love but I just cant get into GT5 at all. The standard / premium car idea was THE worst idea ever in a racing game and just destroyed the GT series for me. They try to brag about 1000 cars but it truly only has 200 cars that can be used for everything. Only the premium cars count to me. Just plain laziness and after 6 years in development, and insulting.

Forza has had me hooked since Forza 1 and has improved with each game. GT5 has been going downhill since GT4. 6 years later and thats what they call GT5. No thanks. Looking forward to Forza 4. I dont care at all about GT6 and really have no plans to support PD unless they pull out some kind of miracle with GT6. But seriously how long until that game comes out? 10 years? At least we know we will truly see Forza 4 in 2011 or 2012 at the latest.

Kaz on the DLC: "We can release it anytime we want, we're just adding more stuff".

Kaz later on the DLC: "We'll have to delay the content until GT6 because I want it to be moaaar perfect".

Kaz on GT6: "We can release it anytime we want, we're just adding more stuff".

Kaz later on GT6: "We have to delay bla bla bla...".

That's what history taught me. I'd gladly eat my words raw if PD released a jaw-dropping update for GT5 that solved the horrible and disappointing mess GT5 is. Come on PD, prove me wrong.

I have absoultely nothing to compare GT5 to. I've never palyed any other version of GT ot FM series. I was an old Papyrus Nascar player in the early 2000's and that's my history of racing sims.

I can say that I enjoy GT5 overall but the menus and navigation literally suck. I'm pissed that I can't access my garage in practice mode. If I want to do a comparision of 3 LMP cars at a specific track I have to go completely back to the main menu. Thats poor design.

I'd love to see them add more US road courses. Road Atlanta, Sebring, Road America, VIR, Mid Ohio, Watkins Glen, Sonoma, the old riverside, etc.

Love GT5, but the only thing that stops me from playing Forza is the lack of support for Logitech wheels. If Forza 4 will support logitech wheels I will buy a XBox. Right now there is no match for me between GT5 and Forza 4, I will keep palying GT5 for months/years to come.

Same with me, although I have an Xbox and FM3, but what limited my time with it was the lack of Logitech support. I am not shelling out more money for another wheel.

If you have both consoles you have 1.) Too much money. 2.) Too much time. 3.) No life.

On the contrary, I myself have both consoles, and I:

1.) Don't have a lot of money (enough to support a family of 3 for the time being).
2.) Don't have too much free time (married with children).
3.) Have a life with a full-time job.

What other reasons might you have because I don't fall under any of those categories, and I'm sure a lot of other people don't as well.
