Common sense with standard and premium cars.

First I'd like to start of by apologizing if this tread is unnecessary. If so, mods feel free to lock/delete it at anytime.

Alright In many other treads there are endless complaints about standard cars not looking as good as premiums. Standard cars have no interior, etc. And I just want to say that all of that whining and complaining is completely ridiculous.

First off, there are many people saying that they refuse to use the standard cars because of the "possible" lack of a cockpit view, and the fact that they're upscaled GT4 models. And to that I say shame on you. Are you really going to deprive yourself of the majority of the game because of it? We've grown up using most of those cars, we've used them in every GT up until now, and all of a sudden you want to stop? Those of you who say that sound like spoiled ignorant brats.

I for one think that the cars look quite good, and I'm not going to shy away from them. I love each and every one of those cars! I could care less if they're standard or premium. GT5 is GT5 and I for one will enjoy this game to the fullest when it is released.

No way in hell am I not going to use these 800 cars, GT for me has always been about the everyday car and getting to drive the cars I have driven myself or owned. Thinking about driving them in cockpit view excited me

I just hope you can standard and premium cars together thats it!

Hood cam would be a nice replacement for cockpit, just sitting on the window.

Anyone who says they're not going to use the cars is just trying to fool themselves, clearly still venting from anger. At the end of the day, all of us here will buy the game and will use the standard cars. Some of us are angry, but that's how it is.

If you look closely at the Muscle Cars in the Standard Cars video, you can clearly see the "one sided wheel" that was so famous in GT4, where the outer visible part of the wheel is 3d but the inner side is flat 2d.

And the textures arent as hi-res as the Premium models.

I bet the "standard" cars have "standard" sound as well. In the last GT5 video I watched, the 2000 C5R and Viper GTS-R sounded just as lame as in GT4. I'm sure they'll look better, but i bet you the engine notes of most cars will sound similar regardless of engine type and size. This has been the case sine 1997.

The 200 premium cars are damn amazing, they eclipse anything out there in the racing game world today, but the 800 standard AREN'T as bad as some are trying to claim.

200 cars are still ALOT of cars! 800 cars is an immense ammount! I'm sure that something will be done in regards to the standard cars interior's. Maybe like a generic type of customizable cockpit or something along those lines. Personally i could care less. Let the masses bitch and moan, i used bumper cam since Gt1 and have no problem with it in Gt5. WIth the premimun cars i'll use the cockpit cam and will enjoy every single millisecond. Gt5 FTW.

Honestly Spark, i would feel like i'm being punished. I'm sure the physics are great and all, but I've been playing this game (and defending it) Since '97. The aweful tyre sound no matter what type of tyre, the lack of damage, the 1/2a$$ed engine notes, etc. But you know what, it had other things that made it great, like drafting, and racing within a class.And the license tests (LOVE those).I need to see/learn much more about this new installation, but at this point , I might not even buy the game and the PS3 and HD tv & G27 wheel. I really wanted this game to be IT.

We'll see.

Could not have put it better myself. Play the game for what it is, not park on the side of the track and look at the pretty interior. If that's all you worried about then you buying the game for the wrong reason.

How can it be annoying? I really think they do look like crap. That's my honest opinion.

I can't wait for GT5 to be released. It will be the most awesome racing simulator ever, but I just simply won't use those standard cars. I've had GT4 since it came out and seeing the same cars again but only in higher resolution is not exciting to me. Not one bit.

There is a higher chance that I will be using the standard cars.

The absence of cockpit view in the standard cars means I will not be buying a wheel; I will be using a DS3 with chase cam. 4/5 of the cars are standard. That means there is only a 1/5 chance that I will use a premium car

👍 Like you said, all those faults are what makes GT...well GT But personally i think, you should buy it. (but ultimately it's your choice) Just think about all those good times you've had with the GT series! Like you said there are many things to look up before you make your final decision, but don't let all the negativity that's going around now affect that. Hopefully when the time comes you'll be happy with whatever decision you make.

I remember playing GT4 and waiting to see the day that GT has fully detailed wheels. I guess I have to wait another 5 years, no words.

When I first saw the standard cars I was like "OH lawd"

I seem to be laughing on the outside, but I am hurting greatly on the inside.

All my common sense was used up trying to explain this debacle,the stuff that we have seen today defies the stuff we were led to believe for 4 🤬 years

When people say "well I will use the 200 cars" they really have less than 60 cars left to see and they already driven 70 of the them, a good number practically duplicates. Then you soon realize that you have waited 5 years for less than 60 actual cars.

This whole GT5 standard/premium debacle is the exact opposite of common sense and rationality.

1st off: How am I not taking criticism? I fully understand why people would be upset, the thing that irks me is the way that people are expressing it. I understand that everyone is different, and that negative opinions are negative opinions, but there IS a limit you know. (and that can go for good and bad opinions)

Secondly I'm in no way demanding people to be like me. You should try and understand what I'm saying first.

I agree with everything you just said. The thread starter just reminded me of the reason why I stopped posting here. It seems like constructive criticism isn't allowed and whoever dares to throw any out will be labeled a troll. I just wanted to join in on a few discussions due to E3 and all the new information we've been getting, but after only spending an hour on here, my head is about to explode. LOL
