Common sense with standard and premium cars.

I think it should be said that you'll probably have to use those Standard cars to get to 100%. And I bet that some of the Driving School missions will feature them, as well. I think that, if you want to get all your trophies and complete the game, you'll need to use some of those Standard cars.

You also need to remember that PD probably has big DLC plans for this games which probably means more premium cars!

👍👍👍👍

Why? I think it's a perfect comparison. People have waited 5 years for this game, and only a few months before release it turns out to be something completely different from what they expected, in a bad way. Of course they must be allowed to be mad about it!

Not exactly, and totally different? I don't think so, only if you consider the cars. I know that's basically GT in and of itself but you're not thinking all the other features that it has to offer, and even features that probably have yet to be mentioned. There's still another 5 months before the game comes out. Things can change.

And almost certainly at a cost... wait 6 years for the opportunity to buy more cars on top of your $60 game price! :)

I should seriously compile a thread of all the feel good comments like this... this is exactly what I am talking about... realistically a game that will relase on november 2 and has had this long to be worked on and has to get tested and go gold will not have any significant improvements along these lines... but hey lets be positive! It will allow us to ignore unpleasant realities!

I know a person like this in real life who is always saying "can't you just be positive?" I mean you could be hit by a car and bleeding out the ears and she would be saying "oh can't you just be positive?"

The positive thing about that is you are still alive! See, its easy! ;-) hehe I'm all for positivity but I do see your point, sometimes there is not a lot of room for it and as for DLC they would be missing a trick if they gave us everything for free and we should be prepared to accept that.

Or they could do it through update, which would be free. So I guess we'll just have to wait and see on that.

Keep being optimistic!

(BTW don't look around at what every other company outside Valve is doing with their DLC)

I don't know if you follow FPSs but recnetly when EA released BattleField Bad Company 2 it came with a"VIP" code that entitled you to free DLC! Everyone was saying how awesome it was and how it would mean free DLC as long as you bought it new or bought a VIP code.

I totally called that it woudl be "some" free content and not much good stuff at that and that it was only a tax on used game sales they were extracting on the new game buyer.

Guess what? The only DLC that was free was pretty much unlocked disc content and new game modes on the same maps... oh and now you can buy a new game mode DLC for $10 and soon you will be able to buy $7 DLC that will unlock some of the guns you otherwise had to unlock by playing.

As a consumer DLC is not your friend anymore... I will make that bet every time.

I would be more disappointed if i actually used cockpit view. Yes it looks nice, but i cannot stand the way the wheel doesn't go past 90" , i cannot drive with it not matching my wheel. therefore i use roof view. so it really doesn't affect me. I'm sure the standard cars will still look / be awesome, and i still cannot wait for this game! :)

Forza has like 500 cars... with full interiors? And they worked on the game for like a year or 2..... After 5 years, i expect ALL the cars to have interior views, thats a big big big big factor for me... i will buy the game anyways, but im going to be deceived....

Every company is different. Bandai Namco had free DLC on a few of their games that I've played. Even Capcom and Nippon Ichi have had plenty of free DLC. So if PD decides to use DLC, what makes you so sure that they will charge for it?

I am not in this argument but the cars are GT's forte and if the cars are greatly compromised the whole game suffers greatly. All the good will be out weighed by the negatives. Imagine saving up for a car for years and then on the same day you buy it you total it beyond repair. <<<That=GT5 after 5 years of patiently waiting. A bunch of 🤬

What was the DLC and how long ago was this? Free DLC does still exist but it's almost entirely relegated to crap and unlocking content already on the disc and/or single use DLC (which is basically the second hand tax I was talking about).

I am sure they will because Sony is a company that wants to make money, every video game company outside Valve is doing the same thing, and the DLC market is moving more heavily the direction of milking for all it can get every day.

What many people don't realize is that a company has a legal obligation to make the most money it can for it's board. That means if company CAN charge you for something, unless they are sure they will make more money by not charging you, they WILL charge you.

Basically... it's common sense :)

I don't think we would see free DLC cars, unless it's like most DLC car packs today where you get 1 free car.

Where's all the people that said they would be happy with an HD GT4 with a little extra stuff and online play?

See I find some of the posts in this topic hilarious. Not in anway does PD allude to the standard cars in this game being straight ports from GT4. In fact all details lead to a completely recreated car with the only difference being that it doesn't have a recreated cockpit or underside. Now if Polyphony were to release all standard cars with this view.

Then it would be in my mind, a good compromise as it takes very little effort and those complaining about a lack of interior view kind of get one without the massive substance of the premium cars.

Jesus... I've said earlier that I'm very excited about the game. Day/night transition, online with 16 players, damage and 200 gorgeous cars. I even said it will be the most awesome racing simulator ever. The only thing I don't like however, are the standard cars.

That's what started all this, wasn't it? I mentioned I was not gonna drive the standard cars because I thought they looked like crap, then you started this thread and here we are. 👍

And yes, totally different. Isn't 200 instead of what we thought would be 1000 totally different to you? Cars is what what makes the game, I mean, it's a racing game after all. Yes, there are still 1000 cars, but 800 of 'em are GT4 ones.

I don't care though, as 200 is well enough for me. 👍

but to be hones and just having play gt4 for taking the outrage out of me i just make realised of something:

from Gran turismo 1 to Gran turismo 4 the same cars has been used through the years ,but when i found the evo III,evo III gsr mazda rx8,then rx8 proto on the gtpsp, and those are in a model perspective the same basic the same car,so i been thinking that is why they shouldn't make the crappy interiors from these cars, but sadly the list from the cars that we re following shows, there is no Aston martins,or jaguars, the Ferraris supercars interiors make sense and the lack of interiors on a basic car like a Honda life makes also sense ,but the shame is that they are just 200 that have interiors,i am sure that they will get to 300 at the time on the release, but some iconic cars that you will be looking forward like the ae86 in my case will not have interior witch is a shame, but the whole idea of this is to drive them,if the standard cars have the new game physics it does makes sense, still we could wait for updates like the ones made for gt prologue and then spect III.

but certainly I will be buying this game,in fact I just waiting to be offered in my country.

Anyone who says they're not going to use the cars is just trying to fool themselves, clearly still venting from anger. At the end of the day, all of us here will buy the game and will use the standard cars. Some of us are angry, but that's how it is.

There are many who will not use cars w/o a cockpit including myself.

On the DLC front the only other option to paying for it that I can see is unlocking some things for completion of certain parts of the game but it is more than likely that we will have to pay for them unless they are released as an upgrade... we can but live in hope (or not)

It's also common sense not to assume someone (or a company) will do something that another company is doing just cause they can. :)

Where's all the people that said they would be happy with an HD GT4 with a little extra stuff and online play?

They're all out partying with the people who assured us that with a procedural damage model it made no sense that damage would only be on some cars and that every car would be done from the ground up and not just a high res GT4 car.

There should be an option to hide standard cars, that garbage.

Some of us actually expected the past 4 years of screenshots and videos to be decent representation of that the game would look like, not just a small corner of the game while the vast majority of it uses PS2 technology.

It's also common sense not to assume someone (or a company) will do something that another company is doing just cause they can. :)

I didn't say just cuz they can, I said straight up on their own they are company that wants to make money and companies are legally bound by their board to be as profitable as possible.

And you can't assume that one will because another does, but this is Sony we are talking about, this is video games we are talking about and this is the real world we are talking about... it's a realistic and educated guess that this any major DLC along the lines of what you are talking about will cost.

Assuming that PD is some kind of benevolent friend who will do you right becuase they love us as much as we love them is a common but ridiculous way to think.

I would love to be wrong, sure as day I would love to... but every logical, educated bit of rational reasoning says I won't be.

Let's just put it this way, I have been calling out a lot of reasonable conclusions throughout GT5s dev period and so far I am battig pretty solidly and those who were sure I was wrong seem to have mostly dissapeared into the woodwork now.

And this is the video game world in general too...

I am not some psychic or market analyst genious... but on the simple stuff... I am pretty sure of myself :)

Also, where exactly has polyphony ever made an impression that its strictly profit organization? If it were in the same category as the likes of Activision and EA, we'd have been paying through the roof for the 3 dlc cars in prologue. But we didn't.

Really? Good for you. Well the majority didn't, and kept their hopes up till just hours ago.

Wasn't it kind of to be expected when Kaz said that the majority of cars from GT4 would be in GT5?
